  1. Correct, they're very different, with different arm colours and new prints for both torso an leg prints. Since it has the new head I think the kama and helmet are the only similar pieces. And the imperial officer in the UCS star destroyer. But I agree I cannot see it happening.
  2. I thought they did, albeit when they join there is more friction and it can't really work as a towball, I assumed that was just intentional. But having a look I see they are different. You learn something new every day!
  3. I am glad this year has picked up. I think the last couple of years have actually been a little underwhelming (with strong exceptions like the tuning workshop), coming off the great years between 2012 to 2016. But I agree that this year has most certainly been an improvement. I think that the 1hy was brilliant and this 2hy is actually sounding really good too. Some hospital sets would be good. Some ambulance services are actually trialling jetpacks now, and there are (even in dry countries like Australia) snow and alpine ambulance units, yet it seems to be a opportunity TLG frequently overlook, despite it being a perfect balance of action and realism. A bit off topic but related to your post (even though your reference was on topic), I am glad that Star Wars should improve in the 2hy too.
  4. We did get the airborne trooper in a battle pack previously, albeit a different variant and some six years before the starfighter set. It is a rare example though, but there are some others, like the yellow 212th trooper in the umbara cannon..
  5. Spectacular, you've mastered the dagobah scenery, and the crate pieces for the door on the ISD is great. The IG 88 droid is great too.
  6. I think MandR said it, so not confirmed but likely and pretty much certain. Agree, and since battle packs aren't around any more. Normally when only singular troopers appear it is in cheaper sets, with one of them only in what will be a relatively large set it would be bad to have just one.
  7. I suppose we sort of got that as a playset in 2009, but as a 18+ set it would be great too. That's a good idea. It would have made sense for all official TLG battle packs to have customisation options, as it would be great to differentiate troopers, especially more obscure ones if you get multiple sets. I'm not sure about the content of most SW video games but overall the set ideas sound good.
  8. Looks good. i like the use of the quad bike mudguard piece for the headlights. I've seen that in many mocs of that scale but that is the neatest use I've seen of it yet. The grill on the truck before that is also really well executed.
  9. Perhaps modify the stand in 3368 to be more like 60080 to attach the creator space shuttle to it. You could use the parts in the 3368 rocket to form boosters for the shuttle. The colour scheme would be different but the space shuttle's colour scheme is already different from the prototype so it wouldn't be too bad. 3366 could be used to the side of the layout as another interest point. It is a quite complete set so it doesn't really need any mods. The shuttle in 31090 would be a good model to be at the gate of your space centre layout, more of a display rather than a practical item. The truck would be difficult to integrate since its out of scale and wouldn't make sense as a display piece like the shuttle. As for modifying the command centre I'd just close it off neatly at the back and let it stand apart from another building. Or you could attach it to a garage to house the ground vehicle like 3366. Any fire station set would have good parts to do so, especially the most recent one. Regardless I'd join the command centre to the side of a building if you choose to extend, so it keeps the 'bunker' sort of feel.
  10. Actually they were different, but it was the 2012 ARC helmet that was unique, not the 2014 one. The ARC helmet had holes to attach a rangefinder and a more prominent fin, whereas the BARC helmet, as you said, was a clever print on the regular P2 helmet. The regular P2 helmet used by the BARC trooper was released in 2013, and I don't think the 2012 helmet was ever used again. I know in posts since you mentioned the differences between these two helmets, so I think it was just my wording, I meant different to each other, not the P2 mould, but I noticed my sentence was a bit ambiguous. Still, that was sort of what I meant, with clever printing they could easily make three different new helmets for the bad batch figures. Perhaps tech could use the 501st pilot helmet from 2013? It wouldn't allow a rangefinder to be added but could work with clever prints.
  11. It took me some time too, half were gifts and teh others I got later. I think 2016 sets were so good because of the great hand Rogue One dealt them. They were able to make small and medium sized sets with generic, but new figures, and the larger sets were so distinctive in the movie and fitted right in, but weren't a redo of an old vehicle like some ST sets. There were also some of the best remakes of old vehicles too. I hope that this is an indicator that the Andor sets will be very good to because of what will be hopefully good source material. If we get an A wing, at least it should be a new colour, which might be good. I would guess that three of teh bad batch helmets will use the regular clone P2 helmet and will have different prints than usual, like the 2012 ARC trooper you mentioned and the 2014 BARC trooper (though those two examples were different moulds).
  12. That's nice. I liked the cameo from Jabba the Hutt, and the signs on the sides of the floats were well designed. The background was good because of the style of the buildings: all nicely detailed, but positioned so as to not detract from the main focus. On a separate note. Do you have any other pictures of the tree in the far left of the slides? The upwards tilt of the branches looks good and realistic and it would be interesting to see how you achieved that.
  13. Well we're now talking about possible 2022 sets based on the presence of an actor in a 2022 TV series and what sets were made in 2016. There's no need to apologise. I simply thought you made that reference because those in the debate you were referencing were mainly American by virtue of the time zone and it just seemed like good moderating. If it would work I'm all for it. That looks like it would work. They could design a piece that fits under the head and helmet to bulk it up like the character, because the helmet you mentioned has a good shape. I missed out on the Striker, but got all the other 2016 sets. I think all of the Rogue One sets were brilliant because of the amount of generic figures in each set, such as the TIE Striker containing four generic trooper/pilot figures.
  14. The Ninjago gardens would be a good start because of all of the plants, assembled trees and tiles, so it would be a good place to start. You would have to sacrifice some sets as unresellable (without effort reassmebling) for creating a layout. The modular buildings would be good because you can place them into a layout easily. There are a lot of elements of the build that wouldn't go well in a medieval layout if that is what you decide, but the colours of the parts in these sets are generally muted so would work well for MOCs. I'd start simple, buy some baseplates and smaller sets, and start up from there, making larger investments as you go along and plan the overall layout. The new blacksmith shop set may also be a good starting place as a cheaper option as it has similar design features to the gardens set but is half the price.
  15. The actor said he won't be in the series, but could appear in a second season. There's been no issue with the character or actor I'm aware of, just a strange production decision
  16. The hair looks really good, and the gun does too.
  17. I think it will/should have five, since it will probably be the only set in the line, and it will utilise all of the figures to optimise sales and make the set more enticing. Probably right there. It seems to be getting more attention from Disney and it has been rumoured and discussed for years longer than the other series. That said, the best character, K 2SO, from Rogue One,, which Andor will rely on for exposure, won't be in it definitely. Not to stray off topic (though I suppose I already am since I'm talking about 2022), a UCS U wing would be good and probably most likely to get a remake of any ship.
  18. That's the problem with the 2021 x wing, it can only be Luke's x wing due to stickers. which is useless for most AFOLs who buy multiples. A sticker set like the Xtras sticker set would be brilliant, and could have stickers for Rogue One, OT and video game x wings.
  19. Didn't think of it like that, good point. It would be a good idea for Lego to make/sell rechargeable batteries, since they don't make money from reusable ones anyway.
  20. I think because lego recognise technic is being bought by adults primarily, when concerning the bigger sets. Simply because most children won't have the financial means, nor would many parents be willing to pay that much when there are cheaper sets available. The B model probably has less appeal to AFOLs (in TLG's thinking), because it doesn't normally look half as pleasing as the A model (with exceptions) so they see no need to use the effort to make it work and put more effort into the set. In a way, I don't think parents or children will pay attention to the B model (except for the bulldozer set when teh catalogue - in Australia - pictured the B model instead of the A), since it isn't visible on the box and isn't viewable easily on catalogues or online, so TLG will remove it without fanfare and not bother to charge consumers less. Sorry for bringing up an older comment, but surely when its a USD $450 set they'd be the least of his worries! I get the point though.
  21. That's incredible. I love the attention to detail with those seats. The use of skeleton arms for the davits its also ingenious. The colour scheme is also great, there is contrast, yet everything works well together.
  22. Not getting into political opinion, I cannot see Lego including the figure unless the character is recast. The marvel set where Captain America was included instead of the Black Widow figure is still being brought up (on a high rating Australian primetime quiz show just two days ago) and that was obviously a planning error. It would be too much controversy for Lego regardless, especially if Lucasfilm has already severed ties. I don't think TLG really care what was said, just what is going to impact their bottom line. I would much prefer if some regular imperial figure anyway, maybe a dark trooper but preferrably something more regular, like a technician or something.
  23. I agree there would be, as one correct actuator tries to raise and the other can't. That made me just think of something. You may have each side mixed up in the gears. That way it would be equally not working and I think (though I'm not sure), that may not make a crack as I think (again not sure), the orange connection place at the bottom of the actuator would still spin in the downward direction without impacting the actuator and not making noises. As the cracking would be from the working actuator. If the drive function still works it would be an issue with the gear's placement because the drive works off the same motors.
  24. @Charlies Pal I'd check the gears in teh box below the linear actuator. I can't tell because I don't have the set, but if one of the gears is on the opposite side it will turn the gear on the actuator the wrong way which won't move the actuator. I know you've said you've built it twice correctly, but it isn't uncommon for there to be errors in the manual. Since, from what I know, the same motor controls the drive and tray functions, and the motor spins, it must be a gear problem, if it is able to drive. I'd ensure the the gears which are perpendicular to the linear actuator are on opposite sides of it on each side. If they are both above or below the small tan gear beneath the actuator, it won't go up. The one on the left should be below and the one on the right above. ^ The gearbox above the arrow.
  25. I like the build, and the storyline is great too. The vegetation is great, especially that tree, and the use of that snake piece is the pinnacle of Nice Parts Usage. As with your other recent build, it is great that it still has that Star Wars feel to it, through the vegetation, yet still resembles a peaceful occurence.
