Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
cosmic replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
So on the one hand I would have liked some more comic based material for the Summer wave, but on the other hand, some of the rumored Legacy MCU sets sound nice. Some. Lol 76290 Avengers Battle - Ideally its a comic based set debuting Sentry, Spiderwoman Jessica Drew, and comic accurate Thor with dual molded hair/helmet combo!! I'm joking it's obviously going to include the 6 OG Avengers from the Tower in some sort of diorama, most likely the bridge scene. An affordable (wish) way for people to get modern designs of the OG lineup. Not mad at this since not everyone has the means to buy the Tower but its an easy skip for me. /speculation 76288 Surtur Battle - I wonder if he'll be a mech like build that's very downsized or if they truly will only include his upper torso. The price point is suspiciously low for this concept imo 76291 Age of Ultron Final Battle - Would love to get updated MCU versions of Ultron, Vision, and yes, Quicksilver mini figure (s). This set has so much potential. Veryyy excited for this one. 76286 - Kind of torn on this. I feel like the OG set from 2014 is perfect, even if the handle on the roof broke on me recently. It has a lot of interior room for a $70 set, and it's version of Ronan is just better with the specialized headpiece mould. The Benatar D2C was nice but still lacked interior room and didn't really improve upon that, and interior room plays a big role in a sets appeal for me. Pair that with subpar versions of figures I already own and it sounds easy to write this off. I'll say, I've been looking to add the Infinity War Benatar to my collection because of its inclusion of Gamora with her brown coat look. I love my Ravager Gamora don't get me wrong, but her coated look was her most stylish and arguably iconic MCU look. If Lego can put her in this set and expand on the impressive interior detailing of the first set, they may have my attention. Heck, add in Yondu or some other ravagers and I'm hooked. So we shall see. 76287 Iron Legion vs Ultron Bots - Incredible. Finally some army builder Marvel sets. Hope this sets a trend moving forward. The Superheroes theme lends itself very well to army building kind of crazy it took a decade into this theme to really explore that. Not really interested in the micro scaled Hellicarrier or potted Groot sets. But these AoU sets sound interesting and I hope they live up to the hype. Quicksilver feels more believable paired with that recent torso link now that this is the rumored lineup. Hopefully in time we can get comic versions of the Guardians, and classic Avengers. But for now, not too bad. -

I recommend picking up Namors Throne if you’re on the fence of it. Figures and build are all visually stunning. As for the Mansion, I certainly hope Lego chooses to produce it but I don’t think it would be released as early as this year. And yeah the curvy shape and License fee are gonna complicate our ability to get the Mansion as a proper build. Still I dream. -

Kind of awkward to be posting here I was unsure if I should bump the 2023 thread or post here. hope this works. Anyways, I built Namors Throne and should be building the War on the Water in the coming week. I wanted to share thoughts on both as I make my way through my Christmas purchases. Namors Throne - Near perfect set. Revisiting videos of the movie, his throne was much larger and I find it commendable they chose to scale it down but still capture the essence of the throne. The Wakandan water craft is similar in that it evokes the essence of the ship in the movie. Feels like a solid depiction of the scenery. I know Shuri is inaccurate but I love this figure. She sported a purple track suit in the movie as a civilian and a solid black dive suit in the underwater escape scenes. So this black and purple Shuri is not accurate but a very interesting amalgamation of fits she wore in the movie, and it feels very believable. Plus her hair piece is stunning. War on the Water - Have yet to build but thus far I feel confident saying I'm gonna love it. Believe I got it on discount as well, which adds to the value. The only criticism I can think of is Okoye should have should armor and M'Baku should have Kravens fur coat. Or at least, I feel they'd look better with those respective accessories. I guess printing on iron hearts wings or a longer accurate braid in place of the afro would be more accurate. But long hair is hard to depict with those back pack pieces so I see why they chose to give her a shorter hair piece. Overall very excited about both these sets. -
LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
cosmic replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Finally built the Bad Batch set and its amazing! Need to say that the Mandalorian Starfighter from a few years ago was very flimsy and hard to pose amongst other builds due to its wide footprint. I am enjoying the Bad Batch shuttle a lot more. It makes me want to check out the show. Hearing how great Endor was received I'm sort of bugged I missed out on the $70 set, hoping to snag it at a Barnes and Noble in the coming months. Excited to see what we get next year for play sets. I'd enjoy a new Tie Fighter at around 70-80 bucks like the 2012 version. The newer ships have been too small for my taste. But given inflation the scale of the 2012 model would probably be $100 in a modern context. Frustrating. -

Personally, I’d rather they do a facade of only a portion of the mansion the. Choose to do another box set. I’d compromise on not including all details but they could so a sized up version of the 2013 model. Like still a facade but incorporating more of the mansion than before. I wasn’t a particularly huge fan of the Bat box and the armory is already quite boxish I feel the exterior of the mansion would breathe more life into a set like that. As I said we could compromise and only incorporate portions or a portion of the house but a well encompassed Hall of Armor should have some sort of an exterior to give it dimension and context. Imo at least. -

Happy holidays to everyone, I wanted to brag about an absolute steal I found recently. Once again, Barnes and Noble is the goat. I bought the Iron Man 2 Hall of Armor at "30%" off (it was really 27%, deceptive listing) a few months ago and fell in love. The War Machine was my particular favorite but every figure in that set along with the build itself was phenomenal. I ordered that off of Lego.com and it ignited a nostalgia for Phase 1 and the Iron Man films in particular. It reminded me of my childhood and the hype I had for the MCU as it was starting out. I chose then to add the Iron Man 1 Iron Monger set to my collection as a companion to this display. Having bought the Hall of Armor recently, I was disappointed to find this Iron Man 1 set was retired since last year! But low and behold, I managed to find a perfect box (and the very last one!) at a Barnes and Noble that also had the retired Wolverine Mech, which I already own. The build is accurate, clean, bulky, and exciting. I love the Iron Monger design and its impressive how both of these sets pull me into their respective movies. I feel like both were such strong representations of the first two iron Men films. All we need now is iron Man 2 Black Widow, That was my personal favorite MCU Black Widow design and it sported her darkest "natural" red hair moment. The only time she sported a darker red since then was the bottle red color with blonde tips she had in Endgame when she bore the braided look. So that curly dark red spy look remains very distinct so I hope Lego finds it in them to include her in an Infinity Saga set eventually. And finally on this topic with the recent reveal of the Friends Reunion House, I am hoping Lego chooses to produce a Malibu Mansion at a similar scale. A $200 Black Panther bust is kind of a snore, and a $300 Hulkbuster feels insane. But for 300 bucks I'd happily pay for Tony's Mansion. I wouldn't; mind if they left the interior space for the Hall of Armor empty to save space. They could leave the empty space to be compatible with the inclusion of former Hall of Armor sets. With such a huge build saving that interior detailing can allow for pieces to be allotted to other rooms. I would expect to see a master bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, staircase and Hall of Armor areas, but a living room, space for his car collection of a balcony would be appreciated as well. In the mean time, I gotta find a way to get that original $50 set from 2013. Which is most definitely going for more than 50 dollars today lol. But yeah, Lego Iron Man sets are fun. -

There has been no confirmation but I saw some images of comic accurate villains such as Kang, Killmonger etc in a catalog and felt it was indicative of things to come. Its very likely we will get infinity saga sets in addition to or in place of what I’m dreaming of. I did say I was being optimistic lol. But yeah practically speaking we don’t know. I will say I just hope whatever Lego does they choose to make it comic accurate or MCU accurate. I don’t want a repeat of the War Machine mech. That War Machine figure is not accurate to anything, comics or MCU and is an original Lego design. We have far too much uncovered ground from both cinematic and comic material to be producing original content imo. Just my take but a comic accurate War Machine with a circular arc reactor as opposed to this weird boxy logo they gave him would have been ideal. In the comics he’s had a circular red arc reactor and in the movies its been squarish but this grey angular shape behind the red arc reactor or whatever you call it on hos chest just looks awkward and is not accurate to anything. I don’t want Lego’s original take on these characters with creative liberty on the designs. Once again just my opinion but with decades of untouched comic material we have so many variants that can be produced for each character, plus some MCU characters we’ve never gotten or gotten few of. Rant over. on the topic of mechs hope they start to branch out more on who they make. With Rocket, Captain America, Miles, and Ghost Rider being comic accurate I have hopes that we can continue to get comic accurate figures in mechs. With the Gamora Fortnite design being revealed recently and the Rocket Mech being what it is, I sort of wish they would make more comic Guardians mechs. Agent Venom would have been 10000x more exciting than regular Venom who we’ve gotten plenty of. And before anyone says that Agent Venom is not currently in any major projects to justify his inclusion, my response to that is variants and exclusive figures help drive sales and being an obvious variant of a hugely popular character I feel it’d be justified. Sometimes I have a hard time resonating with the thought that a character needs to be very popular to be produced because looking at the Star Wars and Harry Potter lines, Lego is quite comfortable producing background characters and people who appeared in literally 1 scene. So I don’t think Lego has a trend of avoiding C list characters anywhere but the Superhero theme. Its the only Licensed theme where the A listers dominate to this degree. Fromy my perspective at least. -
Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
cosmic replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
To be fair, the 2020 version is based of the Square Enix wave (a notoriously underrated wave imo) and the Square Enix Avengers game was explicit in drawing inspiration from both the MCU and comics. Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Rescue, War Machine, and Falcon were all comic accurate. Nick Fury, Black Widow, and Thor drew inspiration from the MCU while the AIM agents were original designs. But this Hulk big fig from 2020…. Feel free to argue with me but I would group him with the comic accurate 2020 Avengers figures. Nothing about his design is unique enough to call him an original Square Enix design, the way the AIM agents have a unique color scheme of yellowish orange and black, as opposed to their traditional yellow. Additionally it’s not MCU accurate either. So yeah not to nit pick but the way I see it we have 3 comic accurate Hulk big figs not 2. One can only dream. Those were my hopes for this leak. I figured when the price leaked that it would be a sizeable upgrade. So disappointed to still only have room for 4 figures despite paying double what I once paid for another 4 seater. I finally got around to watching the review for the set and god its just so hard to like. Rogue is annoying because she looks so cheap from most angles with no side leg printing and that overused inaccurate hairpiece in wrong color. But why did they add these carts? We have 2 containers with some red tiles for what? They took up what should have been extra seating space. I really wish the set was designed to fit at least 6 figures. And honestly the large cockpit pieces are clunky and the design is not particularly appealing. I will say I’m hopeful for this summer wave. Lego has historically delivered well for comic waves. The 2017 Hulk va Red Hulk set may have been hideous but it had some of my personal favorite character selections ever. That same wave introduced us to Kamala Khan. We all remember the Spider Bridge battle wave with White Tiger, Hobgoblin and Ghost Rider in the accompanying sets. And of course the 2020 wave I never shut up about. With little MCU content coming out next year I’m optimistic for what they have up their sleeves. -

Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
cosmic replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Feels like the most obvious choice is a Sentinel. Not only does Lego love mechs but they also seem to love repeating content. Haha just kidding. Sorta. I wish I could be this confident in Jean being produced. At the moment we only have the X Mansion to anticipate but hopefully we do get other sets. I honestly love the X Men this is a dream come true that we're even getting new content. I do wish we had better hair options for Magneto. Both Han Solos hair (26139) and Episode 8 Luke's hair (35494) would work well for Magneto and neither have been produced in white before! The combination of the bright purple with the long hair makes this Magneto feel childish and not as intimidating. A darker color scheme would be fine but if they kept this light purple and gave him a shorter cut I'd be fine. Hopefully new short white hair pieces appear in other themes or PAB/BAM this upcoming year. If we do happen to get more sets I hope we see Jubilee, Jean Grey, Gambit, and Colossus or Bishop before Nightcrawler but I love Nightcrawler so much that I wouldn't be too mad. I just don't envision him as a core member of the 97 team, even if he is going to be on. I'd enjoy Nightcrawler as an addition to the Giant Size X Men. I'd actually love to get Banshee and Sunfire as well to add to that team. The 2014 Cyclops and Storm are accurate to the Giant Size X-Men so my hope is when they finish the 97 wave they eventually get around to producing 70's X-Men designs. Or at least going back to it..... for the tiara. -
I figured I would love this Series! Shocked we already got a leak, Series 23 just got revealed! Shows how ahead of schedule they always are in production Human suit for small aliens - In hindsight its obvious they would use the trophy piece for the “little aliens” still I was hoping for a new head mould on the baby piece or a new mould altogether for the little people. Still a very fun concept and excited to see clearer images of this Space cook ? - Looks like the chef working at the space prison the Space Police took Brick Daddy to. Classic spacewoman - surprisingly exciting gender rehash. Fun colors and prints. Dog was a nice touch M Tron redux - possibly top 3 of this series Alien in UFO costume - the body print is perfect its a shame they wasted it on that wacky green face and tacky “UFO” neck element. Should have had that cosmic space print on his face and have another cosmic being ala the 11th figure on this list UFO tourist - so cute my current favorite Squid alien - kind of out there but thats exactly the type of creative liberty I wanted to see them take this Series Modern space man - boring waste of a slot. Give us a conceptual futuristic or retro futuristic astronaut but this is just too literal and boring compared to everyone else Ice Tron redux - looks like a transformer so cool need him in my collection instantly Blactron mutated soldier - Love blacktron but would have preferred a Black suit guy you could army build “Orian” best figure of the series I take back what I said about the tourist this guy is the best. Perfection Space babysitter - going back and forth on whether or not I want to get her. There’s appeal but it’s also so redundant. We’ll see

Perfectly stated. I want to be excited for this wave but at those prices we start to take a harder look at quality and unfortunately it’s not there. Not all the way there. It’s crazy how I’m so extremely let down by Rogue but also so extremely excited at her being produced at all. Although I still stand by my sentiment that Jean should have been included in Rogues place because Jean does not need dual molded legs and would fit with this hair style. -

Lego self sabotages and then turns around to claim X-Men sets don't sell well. They do this with DC as well. Every set has is a repeat concept/vehicle rehash, no new characters and the figures lack detail. Then it becomes a cycle of producing few DC sets because they "don't sell well". Rogue looks so cheap she needs leg printing across the side of her legs she should have just had dual molded legs. Maybe then I'd overlook her lack of dual molded arms and arm printing. Cyclops looks just as underwhelming with those legs... As for Magneto, based off the reference images of the Trial of Magneto where he dawns this suit it appears he should have had shorter hair. This would have been the perfect opportunity to produce the Han Solo hair in white. That would have been awesome. I hate that I'm still gonna get it but its gonna have to be a hefty discount. -

War Machine mech is nice but figure is disappointing. It has similarities to comic designs but is not quite accurate itself. It’s not an MCU or comic accurate War Machine which feels like a waste, because this just feels random, which it is. Skipping this mech. The X Jet is mid all the way through. From the build to the figures. Rogue needs dual molded legs she looks so cheap from the side. Magneto is accurate just wish they gave him a shorter hair piece, preferably Han Solo’s hair in white. Dumbledores hair is a bit too long for the reference images I’ve been able to find for this Magneto. Couldn’t care less about Wolverine unless he was a new variant. Figures and build are all mid, yes I’ll pick it up. It’s not terrible but it’s certainly not what it could be. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
cosmic replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I agree regular series have broad appeal, but they’ve done 2 costumed themed series and 1 Monster themed Series. It’s about time Space got its own Series imo. Themed Series can be fun. I hope they give us some new Blacktron characters. -
You bring up a great point that incorporating a Space Force sub theme into City was a safer choice than to produce an original theme, but it’s still polarizing for me. I guess there are calls to create a Space Force in real life but nothing has come to fruition yet so all the designs are experimental, but that in and of itself is not the strangest part. The aliens and hoverbikes and mars rovers are altogether too much for me. So I won’t buy the wave but I agree there is definitely a justification to put this into the City theme. As for what other satellite sets I want, thats the thing is I don’t really want that right now. I honestly wanted more Farm content. That was my first priority as a consumer but come to think of it I would also welcome another Jungle sub theme. A few years back we had the Jungle sets with Jaguars and temples that seemed to resemble a South American expedition. I’d love for another Jungle sub theme but more focused on Australia with Koalas and Kangaroos instead of Crocodiles and Leopards.

Not a huge fan of this wave but I love that Prison Island. Our first Prison Island was nice at first glance but upon revisiting images it did have a very black and white color scheme. This new set incorporates browns and blues in a way that feels organic and cohesive. The interior gives a lot to work with and I noticed some of the inmates appear as criminals in other sets throughout the wave which is very exciting to see. Very nice detail to have included. Overall an amazing set but quite literally the only one that piqued my interest with this leak. I'm going to be very honest here, I am not a fan of Lego City going to space in the way that it is doing it. City has always been a pragmatic and realistic theme grounded in relatable figure designs and builds. I somewhat appreciate the experimental venture to try and do something utopian or conceptual like running into life on mars. But this type of material has been conventionally reserve for separate space themes, while City kept a focus on the mundane if you will. I guess I don't mind and I can look the other way for this wave, but moving forward I hope they reserve alien life and "Space Force" machinery concepts to sci fi Space themes and keep to rockets, satellites and other realistic source material for the City theme. What's even weirder is seeing the Friends figures in space. That was actually quite comical. Also, we haven't had an original Space theme in some time so that would have been nice. I'm also just not feeling these sets in general? We had a Rocket launch center and Moon base a few summers back and those sets were amazing. I was hoping moving forward we'd revisit farm material, go into some city architecture or even delve into cultural architecture and do city sub themes for different countries. That would be cool to get a Spain based wave, then a NYC based wave, then a Dubai based wave for example. But aliens and space force? it's a bit much for me.
-
I never processed it this way but that's hilarious, much more ridiculous than I gave it credit for lol. God this set is incredible. So satisfying to get adult versions of the original cast. The color scheme of the mansion is gorgeous and the details are so exciting, we actually have a Lego version of Beverly Hills and that is so cool. The craziest thing is Friends is the theme to give it to us.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
cosmic replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Respectfully, I kind of hate this opinion , I'm sick of animal costumed figures. I do think a space themed cmf should have some standard mono chromatic spacemen you can army build, preferably a Blacktron spaceman, but to say that no experimental concepts of alien monsters should be present is a bad take imo. Some people complain about a lack of innovation at this point in the CMF theme, but a Space theme gives room for creative experimentation because you can always design a new alien race. I welcome this space theme, I actually think it's been overdue. Designers can get creative with alien races and I welcome that but its fun to see other perspectives I guess lol -
Disney Properties 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
cosmic replied to Huigberts Builds's topic in LEGO Licensed
I agree. I'm thankful to have mini figure and mini doll versions of the princess's, but I have to say they make most sense as dolls. I mean Disney princess in real life get produced as dolls not action figures, so it makes sense their aesthetics translates best to mini dolls not figures. Although I've seen Disney princess dolls with articulation and I think they. look much better than traditional dolls with stiff arms but that's a separate conversation. I will say, I do hope that we continue to get figures in other Disney sets that revisit other films such as Peter Pan, the incredibles, Monsters Inc, Lilo & Stitch, etc. I would like the rumored Belle's ballroom to have mini figs for us to get a figure version of Belle, but honestly they could save her, Merida and Raya for the fourth Disney CMF series if they really wanted to. Overall this was the strongest year for Lego Disney but that makes sense with it being the 100th anniversary. Hopefully we get the Disney fairies produced sometime as well. -

Comic accurate Gamora was the most exciting skin to see for me! Green Goblin also looked incredible I gotta say I'd love for these to be produced but I am skeptical. I don't want to get my hopes up because there is a plethora of designs from the Lego Marvel games and movies we never ended up getting. But yeah I agree it would be nice. Finally saw the buildable Rocket and I think it looks ridiculous lol. They should have opted for a closed smile over the toothed look. Ravager Groot is not enticing enough to justify the purchase. I'm excited for the X-Jet reveal despite knowing it's probably going to be very underwhelming haha. -

I rather they bring back Space police for a year or two for 2-4 waves total instead. But for a CMF, I’d appreciate this, so the Space Police reboot can focus on producing new characters when it eventually comes around to being produced. Wanted to share an exciting find from recently. Went to a Barnes and Noble to find Beast from the Marvel Series 2 CMF and was stocked to see both Series 23 and the Disney Series 3 at some Barnes and Noble. I did not find any Marvel figures at all which is odd but a great reminder that Barnes and Noble is an amazing resource for retired sets. For about a year and sometimes a little longer you can find select retired sets at sole locations. I got the Star Wars Bounty Hunter Assault Ship a few years after it retired at a pretty popular spot! So always worth checking those out if you don’t want to Bricklink something. Not only that but I loved the experience of having to feel for a CMF figure. I hated Series 23 overall lol it is my absolute least favorite Series ever I rank it below Series 2, Series 19 and Series 18 (which was actually not that bad). So its ironic that despite hating every figure besides the 3 I wanted, I appreciate Series 23 so much for being the last Series to give me the opportunity to experience feeling for a figure and going to my car with excitement to see if I got it right. And I did! It feels so rewarding each time. Knowing that I can choose to buy only the ones I want because my skill at feeling the bags is strong. From now on I yse Bricklink but these were special memories for me to be honest. Going out to buy CMF figures was something I looked forward to. -

Its's strange I can see how this is objectively an ugly mech but I guess I'm so excited for the figures I almost turn the other cheek. The builds are weak but I think Rouge and Knuckles look incredible. Just wish they'd release the wing piece from the Vidiyo dragon, in purple. If they ever produce another Rouge I'd hope they'd give her the larger wing piece as this one looks teeny tiny on her lol. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
cosmic replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I'm so glad we have a general modular buildings thread because I love going back and giving commentary on retired builds. And the timing is perfect because the builds I'm commenting on are retiring this year but not yet retired. For the Bookshop, I love most of the set but I'm rewatching review videos and see how the shelves all use brick pieces and tiles to represent books. The only physical Lego book we get is Moby Brick. I wish we got more of this proper book piece with other Legofied takes on classic literature. If even on 1 shelf, I wish we got actual book pieces stacked side by side, even if other "books" on that shelf were brick built, I wish we had more than just Moby Brick in this set. When rewatching a review of the assembly square I am appalled by that "music shop"? There are literally only 2 guitars and so much empty walking space and space on the walls. It's easy to modify which I enjoy and I do plan on fixing it, but that store has the room and the need for some shelves or racks to carry more merchandise. Floor plan is also boring could see myself adding a carpet to that floor. So only a few did bits but basically horrified by the music shop and let down by the actual book shop. The funny thing about the Book Shop is, I love Lego apartments and the bulk of that set goes to living space. So it's easier to enjoy those apartment and ignore the fact that the actual Book Shop itself, the supposed appeal of the product, is the worst part of the build lol. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 25. Rumors and discussion
cosmic replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Funny you bring up that Fairy! We talk about tropes they can add to, and while we mentioned Japanese cultural figures, and the Power Rangers as ongoing tropes they can do, the Fairies would be just as exciting. We still need a tooth fairy for starters. But we also have so many different wing moulds in circulation. The Bumblebee girls wing, the Beetles/Blue Beetles wing piece, the new Tinkerbell/Vidiyo fair wings, the new cmf Butterfly wings from Series 17, and the plastic wings they gave to Wasp in the new Avengers tower. I'd love a Lego take on the Power Rangers, but an unlicensed Winx Club or Disney Fairies situation would be awesome. And lots of wing moulds to choose from to keep things exciting.- 574 replies
