Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
cosmic replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Long time no see. Some leaks to discuss, we have I was initially elated to hear we were getting Rogue in place of Storm. We really needed new characters. When I saw her I was initially extremely disappointed. A little mad even. She's since grown on me, but ultimately I find most if not all of my initial criticism still stands, I just settled for reasons I'll get into shortly. But first I want to review the leak. Rogue - let's start head to toe. For one, her hair is considerably voluminous and bulky on the show. Not only is this hair piece EXTREMELY over used (I mean seriously, Black Widow, Gamora, Storm, Jean Grey, Scarlet Witch, Captain Marvel, and now Rogue have all adorned this hair at some point!) but it just does not provide the silhouette she needs. it's a pretty hair piece and that plays into why I settled with her, because it may be incorrect and annoying but it's not terribly hideous. Actually kind of second guess saying that because the placement of the white patch is sooo awkward, pair that with the hair color itself being far too bright and I'm starting to kind of resent this hair choice. We haven't even gotten to the torso and there is so much to say. The actual torso print itself is near perfect and easily "carries" this figure because there is so much to pick apart basically everywhere but the torso. It's the 1 thing they got right. I may be nitpicking here, and I hesitated even bringing this up but technically the jacket she has on should be a little lighter but I understand that even though it's slightly inaccurate, this slightly darker color contrasts better with the neon green legs. I get it, but even if the color is a minor detail, the arms should have been dual molded because her jacket only goes to her elbows and her lower arm should carry the neon green color of the actual jumpsuit underneath. So yeah arms should have been dual molded and hair is wrong in shape and color. FINALLY onto the legs. Lol. Should have been dual molded. the neon green of her suit covers the entire side of her legs and almost all the way in the back where there is a slight yellow strip towards the center much how we see from the front facing angle. She needed dual molded legs and a yellow hip piece to pull this off. if no dual molding, we should have at least gotten this green printed towards the side of the legs. But no! She only looks presentable from a front facing angle. I am personally really put off seeing all that yellow on the side of her legs. TL;DR for those who don't want to read all that. Color and shape of her hair are wrong, placement of white patch is awkward (to me), arms are incorrect in that the jacket color should stop halfway and the green from the jumpsuit should be in the lower half. Plus a red printed X is missing from both her shoulders. Leg printing does not extend to the side but ultimately should have been dual molded. I can excuse the incorrect hair mould, but the color being off throws me off. Okay fine lets make peace with that, but the arms are wrong too! okay well that's "close enough" as well so lets ignore it. But they then chose to double down and half a** the legs as well! My goodness its just all so much to take in. I don't like being negative, and I have rose tinted glasses on for Lego X-Men content no matter what it is so I was able to "settle" and make peace with the fact we are getting a subpar Rogue. But I had to comment on how confused I was the the image first dropped and everyone was so enamored by her!?! Lol. Plus the price to part ratio on this rumored set is so high I initially reasoned that if the set is so expensive then a decent budget must be allotted to the figures. This better be one incredible build because so far the figures AND the price point for this X-Jet are doing it no favors. But finally Cyclops - Near perfect but come on dude. Those legs suck so bad. Needed yellow hip and some print maybe for his undies. Lol. Also has leg straps and yellow boots. I guess we can give him the boots but the hip is hard to do without removing the dual molded yellow and blue legs from the blue hip and swapping it for a yellow hip. I can't speak for anyone else but I treat my figures very carefully and get kind of anxious even thinking about swapping a hip piece. So even if we fix the legs it's still not quite accurate. Which makes this figure kind of a let down. Both leaks kind of let me down. But at least we didn't get another Storm lol. And to my final point, I wanted to clarify how basically all of the issues with this Rogue figure would have been solved if we got Jean instead. 90's comics Jean would have loose hair exactly as shown in the first (and possibly best) Lego Marvel game. 90's Cartoon Jean would have a ponytail piece. Both are extremely accessible but also accurate to her! This same hair which makes no sense for Rogue actually works perfect for a comic Jean from the 90s, and once again a ponytail is just as easy to use if we go with the cartoon influence. Don't want to dual mold or print on the side of Legs? Well that ruined Rogue for me but 90's Jean could honestly get away with no leg printing. And while she does need arm printing which I know they would skip, they can just give her should armor/pads to depict that detail (would have to be paired with ponytail if they gave her physical shoulder pads instead of printed), and skip the blue bands on her lower arms. So if they wanted to go this route of reusing easy hair pieces and skipping leg and arm detailing, that would all have made much more sense for Jean Grey. Rogue is a great character but given Lego wanted to make a cheap figure with barely any detail, and no new hair moulds, I'm surprised they skipped Jean seeing as she lends herself much better to that. Plus she has a love triangle with Cyclops and Wolverine, the other 2 protagonist in this set. Apologies for the wall of text I had a lot to nit pick but kudos to you if your read this lol. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 25. Rumors and discussion

I actually kind of liked the Mushroom girl lol I completely agree! This Mushroom girl fits in very well with Forest creatures and adds lore to the Fantasy realm we otherwise would not have seen coming. I find her simultaneously obvious yet refreshing and original for a concept. Something I appreciate in modern (and previous as well) CMF Series. Also major yes to your CMF ideas!! We basically got Red Sonja "rip off" in this new Series, that Red Ranger from Series 19 is obviously an unlicensed Power Rangers reference, I always thought if Lego were to keep this going I'd wat to see a Sailor Moon type girl. I have been waiting for that, I believe Ash n Flash or someone who does those very detailed CMF renders depicted a "Streamer Girdle's" with a pink hair piece which was very much a nod to Sailor Moon. It looked amazing! Having said that I wanna give my opinion on the new official reveal and all the figures. Harpy - Probably my favorite of the Series. Saw a video from Ash n Flash and agreed with most of what he said but he seemed to find this concept boring which I find so odd? We rarely get Greek Mythology figures and when we do they tend to be some of the best. Think Medusa, Minotaur, etc. Not only did they give her this purple color scheme which makes her look dark and mystical, the concept itself is so out of left field. I would have expected Zeus, Cupid, Hercules or even Hades before a Harpy figure. I'd expect Sirens before a Harpy. Paired with her color scheme and she is standout. Red Sonja - Love how masculine and tough her expression is. Love the sword. These lear images do her justice. Double amputee- Love the coloring on his suit, his hair piece is not new I believe Nothing new to say about the Detective, Dog Groomer, Mushroom Girl, Shephard or even Basil, as I enjoyed them from the jump. That said.. Train Suit boy - I was already tired of costume figures but clear images only confuse me more on his face print. Why is his eye like that? Seriously I don't understand. Confused me more. Gamer girl - Only new though is I do enjoy her Lion Knights track suit but given the quality of modern city figures, this did not need to be a CMF figure. Weak concept and decent figure, should ave just been in a city set, does not belong. Workout woman - Horrible tattoo imo. The leaves are purple why? And the shape does not even look like a leaf! It looks like the feather piece that goes with the S8 Pirate and S9 Knight. Plus the blue and purple on her arm clash with the salmon colored top. Plus no new moulds. I was initially on the fence for her but ultimately will just choose to skip her. Triceratops suit guy - I know I said I'm tired of suited figures but he is the very best costumed figure they have ever made, probably challenged only by the Series 5 Lizard Man or the S19 Pizza Suit guy. It's my personal taste but he does it the best. If I get any of the 3 figures I plan on skipping I would sell them. I straight up do not want the Train Boy or ugly tattoo lady in my collection lol ! I may end up just sticking to Bricklink while the boxes are around. One thing that bothers me about that is that most sellers place the interior contents into a separate plastic bag? For space purposes in storage that makes sense but there are surprisingly few sellers who sell it how I like it. Where they open the box to see who it is, then reseal or retake it so you're essentially getting the full product you'd get from the store with a similar experience of "opening" it. Wish more sellers just closed the box and sell it to you as if it were fresh from the shelf, but props to the few sellers that do! Also sorry for the long response its been minute lol- 574 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 25. Rumors and discussion
cosmic replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
We got the sumo wrestler, karate master, Kimono girl, Ninja and Samurai. I’d love to get a Sumo wrestler with a belly piece that could be used for “heavier” characters if they ever felt like revisiting that concept. Besides there is also the circus trope we have not seen in ages. We could get a unicycler, trapeze artist or contortionist but the latter two are hard to depict imo. We also have medical professionals, I mean we got the Surgeon and Nurse but no Dentist? Or how about more Western characters? Anything but more suited figures I beg of you- 574 replies

No offense but I would hate this. I am quite over the costumed figures and to get a costume figure of a costume we already got (twice!) just because a new mould has been introduced would be annoying from a consumer point of view because we only get 12 slots. There are other tropes I'd want to see them pursue, like fairies in teal, green, pink, aqua, and lavender, or mermaids with varying tail and clamshell color schemes. We got that unofficial Red Ranger in Series 19, would love to get more Power Ranger-esque figures with different color schemes. I'd be down to see more cooks, we got a Sushi chef with the Ninjago cmf series, and a Baker in Series 17. I'd welcome more figures specializing in certain cuisine with accessories to match. But another dragon suit figure? We have green and red dragon suit figures I really don't need this to become a trope if anything just release a BAM figure and call it a day lol.- 574 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 25. Rumors and discussion
cosmic replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I bought a scale and plan to put it to use soon, updates to come. Upon first impression the shepherd is honestly kind of boring without his goat. I would only buy some of these figures if I had the chance, as I am not enamored with the entire series. I do enjoy some more than others so here goes; Detective Noire - Love the color scheme and addition of red herring. Gamer girl - Adore the mouse and keyboard accessories but honestly could care less for the figure itself. Total skip if the accessories are available on PAB. Basil the Batlord (?) - Seems like it is a reference to classic Lego. Even if it is not, my first impression was "looks like a Bionicle character". Definitely my favorite of the bunch. Double amputee racer - I love the representation but not too exciting really Shephard - I feel he works in both classic and modern settings. Somewhat timeless. Growing on me, love his face. Mushroom child - Very ini line with the Elf of recent Series 24. A forest spirit that feels joyful, youthful and in tune with nature. Very unique Muscle woman - I go back and forth on her. On the one hand I love the weight, but that will likely be available on PAB. I do love her torso print but she's kind of a snore Triceratops suit guy - I am tired of the suited figures but his color scheme is so standout and the mould looks lovely Siren (?) - I question if this is really a Siren but whatever she is she looks great! Otherworldly and mythical Train suit boy - Reminds me of Thomas and Friends. Confused by his face print, total skip. Not terrible, though. Red headed warrior - Leaked image is far too blurry. on this one so I will reserve judgement but immediately confused by the bright red hair choice Dog groomer - Dog mould is excited and figure herself is about just fine Ultimately figures 1,3,6, and. 9 are the best of the series for me. There are 7 of 12 I definitely want and of the other 5 I'd say 3 are possible depending on if I enjoy other images of them. Not the worst series ever but honestly not the best. Kind of mid.- 574 replies

LEGO Star Wars 2023 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
cosmic replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I initially had no issue with the Justifier. When it first released I did not have my critical eye on and gave it wayyy too much credit. Once I saw the source material I was blown away! The wings are so tiny and not at all the right proportions. Not sure if I should even call them wings? The proportions of the entire build is so bad. I hope Cad Bane can appear elsewhere as that current set he’s in is hideous. -

I think its time to introduce the mid sized torso piece depicted for Mr Incredible in the Lego Incredibles game. This would work not only for the CMF figure but also licensed figures such as Mr Incredible (obviously), Colossus and more. With the larger size these boxes provide, just that torso piece should be a reasonable use of the budget. Not that I really know how that works though, lol. And talks of a new animal mould are nice and all, but I just really want then to release the entire series the way they tested in Denmark for Marvel Series 2. I don’t want to waste money how I did for this Series. Enjoy the experience of buying CMF figures in store and wouldn’t want to resort to Bricklink exclusively moving forward, though I might.- 574 replies

Be nice if its a figure scaled play set and not a micro or hyper expensive macro build. Be even cooler if some dope figs were included. Babydoll would be fun.

I’m gonna be honest I wish Rouge had the larger wing piece introduced with the Vidiyo dragon. These traditional Bat wings are a bit small I would have used the newer wing mould for her. Besides that they look stellar. -

I just hope Lego does what they tested in Denmark for the Marvel series and release the full series so people don’t have to waste so much money. I guess they do this so no one just gets everything they want right away and we all spend money trying to find what we want. Its good for business if you buy into it, but I may just stick to Bricklink if they don’t release the full set. If anything that may help sales of full boxes because resellers will buy full cases and people like me will buy the figures we want from them. But I used to love the process of feeling bags and being exciting when I got it right. Which was basically always after my 3rd to 4th Series I collected, many many years ago. So strange I will likely not be able to recreate that moving forward. The entire dynamic of collecting figures changes for me then. And looking at my collection, CMF figures take up the largest chunk of figures in my collection but also my display setup. Seeing how large a role cmf plays in my collection I hope Lego makes it approachable for fans like me to keep this up.- 574 replies

It would be super if they did this, man. But what could kids possibly want more than Batman v Joker on repeat? Surely this is the best we can do. But if we are gonna make Batman sets there’s still ground to cover. Azrael, Lady Shiva, Mad Hatter, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, quite a few designs and portrayals over the years of Ivy with green skin. That’s one I really want. Plus Spoiler, Cassandra Cain, Tim with his helmeted Red Robin costume (the 2020 Captain Marvel mould from the Square Enix Avengers game wave in black would be perfect for this imo). Etc. we also have Bat family variants to produce. And if we are going to get Harley, give us her Hyena’s, thats a mould they can reuse in the Safari subtheme for City. Maybe an exclusive cackling face print on hers to make them special. And while Bat vehicles are nice, we have never gotten the Botanical Gardens, Iceberg Lounge, proper Wayne Manor, or more affordable builds like Ivys pink car from BTAS, or just anything creative and new really. I don’t mind just getting Batman content but there’s better ways to do this.
-
The fact that I believe you does say a lot about this theme, and it ain’t good. They had it right at one point. Remember in 2017 when we got Batman vs the Scarecrow and they dropped Blue Beetle in that set? Or Batman vs Mr Freeze in 2013, when they dropped Aquaman in there? Like if Batman is the only thing that sells, give us Batman sets and sprinkle some other heroes occasionally. Idk why they felt the need to just give us the ugliest variants of Joker and Harley for the past 2 years! Like seriously the Jokers and Harleys of recent years have not even been aesthetically pleasing. Using a black and red variant of TLBM Harkey’s hair with the rebirth/New 52 Harley face? It was weird. The face print on the new Joker for me just looks weird. It’s all just so weird.

I agree, Venom and War Machine have very dark color schemes, so releasing both at the same time feels off. I’d love if they gave us a classic comic War Machine with that silverish grey and black color scheme. We’ve gotten so many Venoms I’d have skipped him. Also just noticed the rumor for the Taxi GWP! How exciting, I wonder if Black Panther would be a new variant for the GWP. Two outriders and a civilian feels like a nice addition to the display without having anything fans would see as essential. -
Is this true? How disappointing and predictable. A micro scaled D2C, a buildBle figure, a 4+ set, and a display piece. Anything but a proper figure scaled playset. They will do anything but produce a proper figure scaled play set. :/

Lego Superhero original films and video games are always frustrating because it feels like they are teasing us with what could be. I still remember how excited I was seeing the 90's X-Men in the original game thinking it was a hint of sets to come. Didn't think it'd take over a decade later to actually get that :/ -

There’s still a case to be made that Marvel fans would consume and pay for comic based material. As you said though their movies have the biggest fan familiarity. And even if Shazam with or without a hood is not necessarily another variant, they gave us more than 1 way to purchase Shazam since he was a San Diego exclusive. How many Jean Greys have we gotten since 2012? -

And we have gotten more than 1 Shazam and Green Arrow since then. Imagine not only getting an updated Phoenix, but Dark Phoenix, Marvel Girl and 60’s Jean Grey as well. My dream is to be able to display and photograph comic based figures through the decades. We are obviously very far behind as we have never gotten OG 60’s X Men, a set with the original Avengers (seriously how have we not gotten comic based Ant Man and Wasp or a classic comic based Loki?). We also would do well getting the Giant Sized X Men, the 90’s X Men, Marvels first family, comic based Dr Strange etc before giving us modern variants. But yeah call me crazy but I’m hopeful we will cover some decent ground in the coming years. -

Agree to disagree in that case. I would just use a standard ponytail piece, I find Auburns to be too short in the back, plus its braided and not a loose ponytail. If anything we could get a new mould for Jean if she we’re to hypothetically show up, but given she didn’t show up at all we may never know. Jk hopefully Lego releases her soon. And with variants! I want 90s Jean Grey, Marvel Girl, Phoenix, Dark Phoenix, etc. Praying for the day Lego finally gives us wide released versions of Jean and Jessica. DC got Green Arrow and Shazam, when will Marvel get around to producing wide released variants for those SDCC exclusives? Its a shame. Plus 90s Jean wouldn’t have even been the same costume as the Phoenix. -

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
cosmic replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. I'll be doing the opposite of @Lion King and placing classic smileys on some of the newer sets. This is my sentiment! It was tradition and a nod to the company's history. We have "normal" heads in just about every other in house iP, I felt it was disrespectful to scrap it from the only line that held the tradition of that legacy. Especially given we only get 1 single new modular a year. It's not like the classic smiley living on in this theme causes much of an issue because that amounts to just 1 single set a year that pays homage to that and getting rid of that tradition felt dismissive. As dramatic as that sounds lol. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
cosmic replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I think the announcement of the Museum is cool. It would be kind of a dig at the Ideas project if figures of Sacagawea and other NATM adjacent figures end up appearing in this set. The rumored description of the fossil and skylight sound lovely. I did want to take a moment and express that I truly wish we would get classic smiley heads again in the modulars. I hate that the normal heads have seeped their way in. I always loved the classic smiley and felt it was nice that this tradition lived on in the modulars. We always have CITY, Creator, Ninjago, CMF and other in party IP's that utilize "normal" yellow heads. The classic smiley was one of my favorite parts of the modulars and I hope eventually they come back. We don't even have an option to currently buy the smiley piece on PAB as of the last time I tried to find it. If anyone can provide a part number that would be great, as the ones I found on Bricklink could not be ordered on PAB. Mind you, the Assembly Square is still available but given its the most recent set to have that smiley and its likely not in production, that may be a factor. Still, I think its annoying that with the choice to give regular expressions to these figures, we have no sets that carry the legacy of the classic smiley. The occasional figure is not enough for me. I wish the modulars went back to that formula honestly. -

I completely understand the physics that led us to get such a small Quinjet, especially since they added the function for the landing platform to go in. I just wish somehow it could be done because it would be so cool to have the new $100 Quinjet land on the pad. Would have been so cool. Getting updated 2012 Avengers Hawkeye and Hulk feels amazing. Unpopular opinion but the new Vision looks dope. Love the new face print and someone said this variant is of him still downloading? it's interesting how after all these years our last regular MCU Vision was in 2018, with the 2016 version remaining exclusive. I kind of wish they added the Ultron variant with his top and bottom face moulds. With both that Ultron and OG Vision being exclusive to that 2015 Quinjet, that set has aged exquisitely and I had honestly hoped we would have gotten that version of Ultron in addition to or in place of the variant we got. The no strings version is fun, but with a set like this I was hoping we would get the big boss Ultron variant. Wasp looks amazing with the helmet and wings but we really needed arm and leg printing. It would have been so simple too it was just the yellow and red stripes its nothing major. I would even say Falcon looks off putting with the solid grey arms. I truly wish he had the dual molding to be accurate. Iron Man with no arm printing is expected yet he still looks funky to me after all these years. Not every figure needs arm printing but its awkward seeing when they do need it and it's left out. Aside from the underwhelming figure detailing I love this build. Also yes it an easy fix that Cap never gets his boots but given how easy of a fix it is would it kill them to just give him dual molded legs? the mini builds in the chariot, Quinet, and Leviathan feel appropriately scaled with the tower but its all obviously not to scale seeing as that would be impossible to produce for a commercially available set. I think the ability to recreate so many scenes, namely the Loki arrest escape scene from 2012, is so exciting. Amazing set even if the Quinjet landing pad is not what I wish it was. This was such an exciting announcement, I'm dreaming of the day we eventually get a classic Avengers Mansion, or an Endgame $300-$400 Avenger s Compound (with Black Widow bearing a red version of Elsa's braid!). Not to be annoying but did you mean to say Paisleys hair? Auburn has a messy braid peice which I personally do not like. Paisley does have a long red wavy piece, which does look good. I think Paisley's hair is reminiscent of Violet from the Incredibles as it has that "emo" element to it, with the bangs in the front of her eye. I wonder how it would look on a figure, I tend to think Lego needs to invest in a "straight loose hair" piece that isn't emo like Paisleys or wavey like the 2012 Black Widow piece. I always loved the hair moulded for Vicky from friends and think that should be the go to "pretty girl straight hair" piece. In red, I think it would look gorgeous and not only work for Jean Grey when her hair is down, but for a comic accurate Black Widow as well. -

It’s gotta be physically possible! I mean they got it to work in the movies!! 🤣 So I wanted to revise the figure lineup for the upcoming X Men sets. This is how I think it should have gone. CMF Series 2 - Wolverine, Beast, Storm XJet - Magneto, Cyclops, Jean grey with red 2012 Black Widow hair, smiling/angry expression, Gambit X Mansion - Professor X in green suit and “concentrated” facial expression, Wolverine in biker gear/tank top, Beast in lab coat, Storm with no leg printing and the tussled hair in white, Cyclops, Jean in red ponytail and calm/shocked double sides expressions, Morph, Jubilee (with one of the BTS hair pieces), Magneto, Toad, Mystique with the jewel printed on her head and using Bo Katans newest hair piece, and Sabertooth. -
Its like a self fulfilling prophecy with Lego DC. They put absolutely no effort into the sets so we get repeated, weaker builds with no new characters or even variants! Then the crappy sets do not sell, and therefore Lego keeps putting low effort into DC because it does not sell! And the cycle continues.

Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
cosmic replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Eh, I’d say they held back on arm printing for Falcon, Iron Man and Wasp based on the leaks. Considering we just got a $100 Avengers Quinjet, I wonder what design of jet we’ll get in the tower. I personally hope they opt for a smaller build like the AoU or Civil War Quinjets. I also hope the Tower has a landing pad that can hold the Quinjet. I get that the Levithan and the Quinjet sound like fun side builds, but a good leviathan could easily be $150 of a set on its own and we just got a Quinjet worth $100, so for both of these to be side builds is cool and all, but I hope it does not detract from the bulk of the actual tower. I just hope the landing pad is there, because with side builds so large there is a chance we see a compromise on the building itself which I hope is not the case.
