  1. Purple would be amazing. It would require some serious courage from TLG, and for us to buy a purple lego porsche, but it would look so cool. Orange is the safe choice i guess.
  2. Why do you think it got canceled when you look at the model?
  3. Thank you, much appreciated.
  4. Can you show the steering solution a bit better? Really curious about your solution. I might be able to use it for my own car.
  5. I hope, and expect, that this rumour is just humbug. No way that Lego would release a batman/tumbler set so soon after the UCS, just in a different theme. And indeed, i'm not to keen to pay € 300 or more for just a pile of black or very dark grey parts.
  6. 6: 10 16: 6 12: 4 5: 3 10: 2 9: 1 Amazing entries with a lot of different cranes. Some entries amaze me in quality and style/function. Well done.
  7. So far i'm not really convinced. Yes they are preliminary, so things can change, but right now i'm just seeing a whooooole lot of panels. And panels are not really my favorite part in lego technic. I hope the dragracer will turn out nice, right now, it looks really bad. (bad picture angle maybe?) The firetruck looks ok-ish. I will wait for some videos from Sariel for the final verdict. Maybe there are some nice hidden parts/functionality.
  8. I lived near the SS Rotterdam for a few years, it's a beautiful ship. So i would encourage you to build it, but also not to loose your mind ;-) I'm tinkering with a ship model myself, totaly different, in model and buildstyle. Maybe i will post something when i have some ideas to show. Building ship hulls is really a challenge, and I have no experience with it... Good luck.
  9. When i was 9, 10 and 11, lego released 8880, 8485 and 8480. Prices in those days for these kind of sets were around 300 gulden (before euro) and that was a heap of cash for my age. So, when i went to toys r us, they displayed these kind of sets, which in my eyes were huuuuuuges boxes of lego goodness. Never bought any of them. I guess that was also when my dark ages started a bit. 2 years ago i bought 8480 second hand, and it's amazing. Also, maybe 8043 and 41999.
  10. Really nice. Are the dark green parts officially released by Lego? Never saw those panels in that color...
  11. Haha, nice, I was not expecting that.
  12. A transformer that turns into a crane, is yellow and knows mad disco dancing skills...
  13. * Checks username... Does not compute. Very nice model. Will you make instructions?
  14. That is coming along really nice. I like the front suspension, and some nice details on the bodywork.
  15. Receiving my copy today! Really looking forward to build this machine.
  16. I had a problem with a receiver from set 42030, right out of the box. Contacted customer service. They send me a new one, i send them the broken piece.
  17. For the dutch: toys r us has 15% off of lego until 5th of august. 42043 will be € 169,99. Anyone else got other/better deals? If so, where? Can't decide if I want to grab it right now or wait longer for better deals (if there ever will be a better deal...)
  18. My newest addition to the hangar: 42024 C-model - Tow Truck I got 42024 for my birthday and took it with me on holiday to build a nice C-model. Well here it is: 42024 is a nice set: It comes with 6 of the new style wheels, which I think have a great size. Not to big, not to small. The set also uses exactly zero of this piece: Part 32140 - Technic Beam 2 x 4 L-Shape Thick I think this is notable, since it is a very useful part. Other notifications: The set comes with a lot of beams, and has few perpendicular connection parts. Building with it makes it extra hard, since you have to be careful where you use them. My goal was to build an american style truck. I had the hood design in my head, and the rest just flowed from there. Functions: - Steering - Openable hood - Opening doors - Gearbox with two functions 1) Raising and lowering the crane 2) Extending and retracting the chains - Raising and lowering the wheel lift - Room for a spare tire (not included in the set) Building proces As mentioned I wanted to build an american style truck. At first i wanted to build the gearbox between the rear wheels, like in the official set, but this got in the way of the large actuator. Having already build the cabine, i figured if it was still possible to switch the gearbox to the cabine. And it did! Additional advantage of the switch was using even less parts, so they could be used elsewhere. Since this set only offers a two function gearbox, the wheel lift had to have it's own controls. The remaining gears were used for this function. The 12-tooth gear controls the raising and lowering, and is secured by the yellow axle connector. C-models always trigger some creative part use, hence the first ever exhaust with adjustable height Seriously, I think the big actuator forms a great exhaust part. Belly shot I hope you like it as much as i had designing and building it. Instructions are on it's way, but don't hold your breath. All images: Bricksafe gallery
  19. It's all about the money, dum dum dum. I know. Still, to me, the set looks really boring. They could have added some staircase scene with the broken elevator. I mean, it's just a wall, where are the nice building techniques? Sorry if this sounds like a rant, but i expect something more from lego ideas.
  20. I'm not seeing it being used that way in the video from brick builder. But if it works this way, it's nice. The space shuttle B-model has this way of working with the functions aswell. So, implementing it in this set brings something 'new'.
  21. I don't understand why a sitcom is turned into a Lego set. What will the playfeatures be, an instructionbook full of jokes? Edit: I see a page back my question answered, but I still don't understand it.
  22. Can't we just make connection ourselves? The cylinder connection is 2 by 1 by 1, above and beneath is room for bracing?
  23. Has anyone laid the lego model next to a scale to see if it really is 'short'? It appears to be in the video, but i'm not sure...
  24. So, the system has the same power output, only the lengths are different. Still, nice to see an update on this. I think with the extended range of movement a lot of new possibilities wil come. Somehow with the old style I always had the problem of not having enough range.
