    I had my Pick a Brick order from August 1 ship before my sets. Although the sets arrived today and the PaB order hasn't yet. Bricks and Pieces part of the order is still in the warehouse though.

    Ha! This is the very thing I linked to above with Rebrickable instructions. I have to say, it's much. much cheaper to get off-brand vs the genuine LEGO parts. Sigh.

    There's a small tree in Detectives Office and Brick Bank, but nothing substantial. I've just placed my final order for the parts for this botanical gardens MOC, which can also turn into a park if you remove the structure. https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-26998/BrickPolis/botanical-garden/ There are quite a few modular compatible parks in Ideas and Rebrickable. The Chinese New Year Spring Lantern Festival also works well as a park.

    We've got Ninjago City Gardens as a demonstration that they hopefully think long term for compatibility with other sets.

    After looking at LegoArtisan on Rebrickable for the Chamber of Secrets confined with 2018 Great Hall MOC, I think that the other buildings they've made are terrific. There's a great combination of the CT and AT to convert it into a great building that's compatible with Diagon Alley. Almost fills the void of waiting for Gringots to be something majestic at the end of the row. https://rebrickable.com/users/LegoArtisan/mocs/

    I had no interest in the architecture line for a long time. They look neat, and I love the people that put them up on the wall connected to maps, but they're not for me. As a result, I ignored the others, but recently got given the Empire State Building and Statue of Liberty, and was super impressed with how clever they are. The final models are nice, but the build experience was terrific. The details they put in and the techniques are fabulous. Waiting to see the the Taj Mahal gets discounted, but it also looks interesting, but I'm sure I'd get new larger models if they release them.

    This is terrific. I look forward to seeing it on Rebrickable when you have time. The original was my favourite set growing up. My daughter loves it now.

    Yes, that's what I had in mind too. It fits nicely with the WV idea/theme, although maybe not LEGO's approach to it, especially in terms of final model execution.

    I suggested the butcher just thinking about what you'd need to set up a Christmas meal. We've had the bakery, toy shop, and post office. And you could have a couple of neat minifigures and the turkey. It's something that's nice and olde worlde. But not really the family vibe that they go for. Reindeer stables would be cool, but would they include the 2-3 reindeer that you'd really need? Maybe, I suppose. Some of the safari city sets this year have several animals in, but none that have multiple large animals in it. Ooh, how about a Santa battle back, with two elves and two reindeer in? Better yet, robot Santa from Futurama to make it both truly 18+ and a real battle pack! ;) Probably not too long to wait, and I'm particularly looking forward to this year's one as we'll (hopefully) have moved in October and so have room to actually get out and build the new sets instead of just having the older ones out.

    It feels like the things they are missing are a tavern, sweet shop, and town hall. You could also say butcher, but that feels very unlikely, or general store, but somewhat bland. We've already had Santa's workshop, but maybe Santa's house would be sufficiently different if the fantasy line continues. Possibly the reindeer stables, but would they put a reindeer in again so soon, and would they have the budget to put more than one in? Or take it completely out of olde worlde style and do a Christmas logistics and flight tracking control center for the elves to manage Santa's journey!

    Lovely idea! And maybe limit it to two stories, or possibly even one so there is some height variation with the Creator Expert modulars.

    I have sometimes looked at sets with the right parts in and wondered whether I should just buy the entire thing for the incremental cost increase to get all the other stuff. And then there's the balance of checking Bricklink costs and accounting for postage, vs direct from LEGO with free postage (usually). And then you have to try to ignore the cost, because you're already well into it and it really would be foolish to stop at 75% complete, and that the sunk cost fallacy definitely doesn't apply in this case. But despite all that. Still definitely a great day when the parts arrive.

    Do you think you'll buy the box and it will have nothing inside except a note saying that they couldn't afford to put the bricks in it?

    Is it just me that finds getting Bricks & Pieces or Bricklink orders is the most exciting LEGO package. It's the concentration of things you need to finish something off that probably does it. Very happy with the things that arrived this afternoon so I can complete stuff at the weekend.

    I predict that the following events will happen in the next six months: 1. Speculation about the new modular leads to wildly amazing expectations (probably both that it will be amazing or that it's too small and will be terrible).' 2. We get leaks about the name/form which allows people to double down on their position. 3. We see a blurred photo that everyone unanimously hates (hurrah for bringing the community together). 4. We see the full images that everyone loves (more hurrah for bringing the community together). Maybe I'll become as good as you at predicting things... ;) I do like the idea of a continuous line of these. And while it's always nice to think that the next one will be even bigger, maybe it's nice to have a smaller thing, that's either lower - maybe just the old level or to complement the temple - or narrower, to give more flexible layouts and configurations.

    Clearly true, but the way that this elevates (both literally and figuratively) the 2018 Great Hall, I think it's well worth it. Either as a standalone, in which case, the CT and AT can be separate, but close-by. Or making things continuous by MOCing connections. I could see it still working well to have just a small slope down from the sides of the raised Great Hall, and suspect that the WW set could take the modifications pretty easily, and need a relatively small number of stone parts to bring it down, similar to what they've done with the Fluffy Encounter set. Doing that the the Clock Tower might be slightly trickier, if you have it to the left of the Great Hall, but much easier if you move the Yule Ball corridor parts over to the other side.
