Winter Village Sets - Rumours and Discussion

That's fabulous. I'm glad I only ordered one extra reindeer from B&Ps now though! -
Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
RichardGoring replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
Maybe. Either way, frustrating, and it's on me to check. Oh well. I can wait for another order at some point. -
A lot of the ones in both round 2 and 3 are really large. Some well over 3000 pieces. The train station and ruined house are about 4000 pieces. So they're going to be expensive. Will that dampen demand compared to the castle and fishing boat which are both desirable and relatively small and modestly priced (compared to what they could have been)? My favourites for round 2 are: Mountain WindmillSeasons in Time: Calendar Retro Bowling AlleyBrickwest StudiosScience Adventures For round 3: 1950s Diner Train Station: Studgate Exploratorium Modular Construction Site Mountain View Observatory In a way I'm hoping they don't all make it, so I don't get tempted to try and order all of them! The Winter Chalet is also really cool, but it feels like it's on a different scale to the Winter Village sets.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
RichardGoring replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
That feeling when your Bricks & Pieces order arrives, and you realize that you only ordered 1 of a critical part instead of the 5 you needed. :( On a different track, does anyone know if there is a way to see what parts are out of production vs just temporarily out of stock on Bricks & Pieces? I frequently see fairly standard elements in standard colours (so not specific to just one set), but I never know whether I can just wait a bit for them to come back into stock, or if they're no longer being produced, and so I should go to Bricklink (where they are sometimes much more expensive). Is there a database of this sort of information? Or is the best method just to see if recent/current sets use that element? -

And great puns available with it too! I enjoyed the Dr Jones no snakes in CG. -

Not to say that this isn't true as well, but Mike Psiaki has said in interview that the DD was originally going to be a car dealership. The car in the final model was from that original concept. -
LEGO Ideas Discussion
RichardGoring replied to The Real Indiana Jones's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I wonder if it will be November 1, which is the date they put up when they accidentally updated the page a few weeks ago. There are five in that list that I would love, but I suspect that they won't all be the ones to get produced. Have they confirmed that there will be 10,000 of each of these available, or is it reset back to 5,000? The FAQ isn't very clear. Interesting small update tucked away at the end there that Anatomini has been withdrawn as it's too complex. It was something I saw a few people say would be hard to pull off. Shame though, as it was very clever. -

That's very cool. I enjoy StoneWars' monthly update on the interesting things to get from Bricks & Pieces. I've often added a few things to my next order from that list. This is going to join them. Thanks! -
When is the best time to buy the 3in1 Ferris Wheel?
RichardGoring replied to ks6349's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Ah, well, you didn't say anything about it being worse than older sets. Yes, clearly it would be great to have something more complete. But at least you can close this up. -
I rarely see any Walmart deals around me (I don't live close to a Walmart, rarely go there, and when I have they're mostly gone), but I did get a candy mermaid beatbox for $5 and a punk pirate for $15. I've got all the series 1 bandmates I want and recently the Punk Pirate Ship and K-Pawp Concert from Zaavi on about 10% off, figuring that they may not last long enough in the US to be on sale. I'm happy with that. Good sets and figures. If there is the opportunity to get a few more at a discount I will. Shame they made a hash of this, as the physical things are really very good.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
RichardGoring replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
I got really excited by a package from LEGO the other day, thinking it was the Bricks and Pieces order I placed August 1. Turned out to be the very small Pick a Brick order I made less than a week earlier. And while it's always nice to get LEGO, this is for a MOC that won't be built for a while. I tell myself that the wait makes the final model all the sweeter when it comes together. -
Yes, tried that and nothing comes up. I wondered if there was a special link or code. Oh well. LEGO is generally cheaper in the US on average, but we don't get as many of the deals that you do in Europe.
-
Is that just in Europe? Or in the US too?

For a time recently they had that round 2 would start on November 1, but at the same time also said the current round was closed, so it may all have been a mistake. I hope it's sooner. I hope they have more sets available so they don't sell it mega fast. And I hope that all the sets I like get funded, and that I get one! ;) They did suggest that all future found would have a limit of one per account though, which use probably the best move if all else stays the same. But I still don't buy their argument that people like these sets to be exclusive, which is why they are sticking with a small limit. I think resellers do. People who want to build the sets likely don't care much.

I'm on my phone, so can't post it now, but I've just had the email too and it's only showing existing sets, staying with the new Creator 3in1 Ferris wheel. Then the haunted house and roller coaster, then Duplo and Friends sets. No artwork that suggests something new. Would be cool if there is something unknown coming though.

When is the best time to buy the 3in1 Ferris Wheel?
RichardGoring replied to ks6349's topic in General LEGO Discussion
They almost always display it in a single line, but there are hinges, so you can close it up into a single castle. There isn't much space inside, but it does turn into a complete castle. -
LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
RichardGoring replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Thanks everyone! Wonderful responses that I hoped I'd get which give a range of views and the warts and all points that I don't think you get from fan sites or videos. For the other sets suggested, I totally get that the MF is the better model. it's more detailed, the shapes are more interesting, it's far more iconic. Objectively it's better. I just don't really like it. I appreciate it, but I wouldn't want to get it. There's also something about the scale, which again, is purely subjective. The SD draws me towards it because it feels much bigger than it is. This may sound odd, but the micro detailing on it makes it feel really imposing, as does the shape, compared to the MF, or the SSD for that matter. It's definitely mostly a large grey wedge, but maybe it's the bridge at the top that gives it more presence and the height to make it seem more. I also really like the Nebulon B, and think that would be cool as a UCS if they ever made one. Perhaps it's the same vertical height I like about that. Not too many space ships have it, so to me it stands out more when they are all. The Venator is cool and I saw M&R's video on it. But again, on a purely subjective level, I admire and appreciate it, but I don't think I'd get it. Part of me is really pleased to not like Star Wars that much, as you have so many cool models to choose from! But as I said, I keep getting drawn to the SD and wondering. I think I'll wait until we move - hopefully by the end of the year - assess the space, and then wait for a double points. Fortunately, I looks like the SD doesn't sell out as quickly as the MF. Oh, and sorry for it being off-topic. I had a look at threads and thought this was most appropriate. Didn't find the general Star Wars questions one. I appreciate everyone's insight and discussion. Thank you. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
RichardGoring replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I actually originally saw this on AliExpress, along with a few others that were genuinely unique, properly licensed, or just copied, like this. It wasn't until quite a bit later that I saw the original Ideas listing. I managed to get hold of instructions, then I went through it and noted where I wanted to modify it. Both bringing in some of the detail that Bricky_Bricks had in his original Ideas submission and making some changes of my own - most notably increasing the height by several bricks to make it fit better with the other modulars. From there I built up a parts list, and then went about getting them. Honestly, it was a pain, but I love the model so much, and my daughter really loves playing with it. One of the worst parts of it originally was using mostly plain 2x2 tiles for the albums in the music shop, with a few of the Rock & Roll printed tiles. But with Vidiyo, it's now full of amazing album art too! I also find it rather sweet that my daughter, who's five, hasn't really ever seen a CD player or DVD drive. But she knows that record players are from this model, and so all spinning disc things are now records to her! I did this before it was rejected from the Ideas program, but I'm really hoping that they do a Bricklink version of it. Although the large curved windows have been out of production for a long time, so it would likely have to be modified using either the smaller versions that are still available, or the curved transparent walls that they use in the Downtown Diner. I can PM you more details if you'd like. And please support Bricky_Bricks on Ideas, as his designs are so cool. -

That's fascinating. I wonder what the bottle neck in the process was? Because it clearly wasn't design, if they had a model. And it wasn't production or logistics, because they released a model. Was it testing? Marketing?! Or maybe the model wasn't as complete as this suggests.
