New LEGO Speed Champions 2021 Rumors, Speculation
TeddytheSpoon replied to Bartlomiej's topic in LEGO Town
I was going to say I'd be OK with the TS050 to go with the Porsche 919, or the GR Yaris with the M-Sport Ford, but I forgot these will probably be 8 wide... In which case I agree, the GR Supra would be nice.- 755 replies

New LEGO Speed Champions 2021 Rumors, Speculation
TeddytheSpoon replied to Bartlomiej's topic in LEGO Town
Saw some rumoured sets (on Instagram, admittedly, so correct these if they've been debunked) which made me come and find this thread. Bits in brackets are my guesses to specifics: Koenigsegg - 280pcs (possibly a Jesko) Toyota - 299pcs (TS050, possibly the new hypercar? Although I doubt it given that's only being unveiled this week) McLaren - 263pcs (Elva as per the polybag) Chevrolet - 512pcs (presumably a two-pack, though what models I'm not sure. Would be cool to see an old Bel-Air or something) Dodge - 627pcs (again presumably a two-pack. Maybe a tie-in with Fast & Furious? We did get the technic model after all)- 755 replies

LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
TeddytheSpoon replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Thanks for sharing and @Lego-Freak for the summary. Interesting that the $160 set is an 18+; would that suggest something more display-oriented than play as last year's AT-AT was? As for the potential R2-D2 re-release, was the statue not rumoured to be a probe droid? Personally I think that would make for a more interesting set. -

Ah I see. From what I can tell the UCS Slave I and Falcon are at around 1:36 and 1:40 respectively, so they'll be a bit further off. I would guess UCS models use the upper end of the scale to fit more detail in. -

As @Mandalorianknight said, minifigure scale is kind of whatever you want it to be. I use 1:36 for MOCs but I've seen others use anywhere between 1:25 and 1:50. To get scientific, based on dimensions from Wookieepedia both sets seem to be around 1:28. For reference I checked my Y-wing and A-wing from 2016 that were nearby and they're around 1:32 scale, but that only translates to two or three studs difference so the TIE and X-wing will look consistent with any other sets in your collection. Hope that helps! -

According to Landino and a few others, there is a $30 set in there as well (75319), which could be another 501st style set. The dream is not dead yet! -

Agreed. I think one of the reasons the Cantina is doing so well (other than the obvious ones) is because it's not designed to look like some of the old Kenner playsets like Cloud City and the Death Star were, so I'd be willing to bet it's an MBS set but designed to look more like it does in the movies rather than a big ol' playset. -
Also having a go at predictions for the summer wave. Most of these are complete stabs in the dark. 75308 ($200): UCS Gunship. I'm assuming the spring UCS set is going to be a big playset along the lines of the Tantive IV, which makes the design window for the Gunship a bit more realistic with an autumn release. 75309 ($350): MBS Endor bunker. For MBS I'm not sure anything else is particularly realistic; although a Masasi temple would be nice and would tie in with the winter releases, I don't think there's enough there to appeal to the masses. 75310 ($20): Duel on Exegol I guess? This one kinda has me stumped, for some reason I didn't see the duel sets continuing. Otherwise possibly a snowspeeder. 75312 ($50): Naboo starfighter. Not sure there's much they could/need to do to update the design, but it has been a while since we had one, and it's a recognisable prequel ship. 75313 ($800): Death Star II as per the rumours. 75314 ($100): Bad Batch shuttle, with the five members of the Bad Batch. Possibly wishful thinking. 75315 ($160): Moff Gideon's Arquitens cruiser. Also possible wishful thinking but I think this is slightly more likely than the Bad Batch. 75316 ($60): B-wing. Can be Resistance or Rebellion; haven't had the former yet, and the latter could do with an update.

So if 75309 is the Gunship, what is the UCS that was rumoured to be in the winter wave (75303)? Surely we're not getting four UCS sets in one year... Also - 11,000 pieces?! If that's true LEGO has lost their minds. That is too much. Bigger =/= better. -

This list seems to be the final nail in the battlepack coffin. That $20 set is our only hope for an army builder set. For all the plaudits LEGO have had for the cheaper X-wing and TIE (rightly so IMO), this wave is expensive. Only one sub-$50 set (not counting the advent calendar), five $100+ sets including D2C... Ew. Mind you if one of those is a Mandalorian Arquitens I might be able to forgive it. -

MOCs is pretty straightforward, just start a thread and link the Flickr images. Not sure about reviews though, I'll let someone wiser than I answer that one... The Eta-2s were my first thought as well. Poe's Black One gets blown up in TLJ but that's a similar instance of a personalised variant rather than a one-of-a-kind ship, even though that's still the ship I associate with Poe. And of course there's the legendary Quadjumper -
Porsche Tri-Wing S-91x Pegasus Starfighter MOC

Just like London buses - you wait ages for a MOC of this ship, and two come along at once! Nice work! It's interesting seeing it done at this smaller scale, if LEGO were to make a set of this I'd wager it would look pretty similar to this; the front is simple yet effective. I do think the engines look a bit on the bulky side though, changing them to three wide instead of four might help? -

Just built mine and what I found most surprising was how well the scale of the TIE works with other sets. I don't have the 2018 one but I was expecting this new one to look small based on other people's comments; having had it alongside (both on display and while swooshing/doing battle) sets like the 2016 Y-wing and A-wing I can't imagine any other size for it, I figure anything else would be too big relative to other ships that we've already had at this scale. -

Based on the 'clearance sale' that Argos had (I say 'clearance', as far as I could tell pretty much every set had been cleared anyway...), most of the Winter 2020 wave - Resistance A-wing, Obi-Wan's hut, etc. - seems to be up for retirement which makes sense. Grievous' Starfighter was also in there though, and that's only been out for six months (it was half-price so I definitely would've picked it up if it was in stock as well). I hope the Crest isn't retiring so soon, I'd love to pick up a copy. -

Luke has his green lightsabre after all. Never in doubt. Itàs difficult to tell from the pics but it seems to have an interior at least a similar size to the 2015 one. -
Websites where You can buy MOCs with all bricks in one place
TeddytheSpoon replied to LateralusArt's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yes, I should've specified relative to some other MOC sites I've seen! When it comes to buying 'pre-prepared' MOCs instead of just instructions you are essentially paying for a service as well as the work of the designer, and since they're rarely sold in the numbers that official LEGO sets are they will usually come at a premium. As you said, it's very much a niche market. -

Yup, I thought the same which is why I started putting some of my models up there. I've found the prices to be pretty reasonable as well, depending on what you want of course. -

I can recommend a website called BuildaMOC - not least as I have some models for sale there! In all seriousness it's a great site and they have a massive range of models: BuildaMOC - Custom LEGO models -

This looks great, the tiles are perfect for replicating that armoured panel look.

This is true - given Ahsoka and Rangers are supposed to be concurrent to the Mandalorian, I guess they could find a set that works for multiple series (ideally something Bo Katan related, I'd love for her to show up in Ahsoka). This was my point really: Star Wars now seems to be moving to a more TV-based/serialised franchise than a movie-based one, but LEGO seems to be reluctant to commit to sets from TV. I guess that'll have to change now!

This was something I wondered about after Disney's announcements. There is so much new Star Wars content coming out on Disney+, but LEGO seems to be reducing the number of playsets in waves, not increasing them. I presume that they're going to have to pick and choose which shows, if any (and movies, when they come out), get sets, and even then we could only get one or two sets per show, ever. Some things like the Bad Batch or the Rogue Squadron movie will probably get at least one, but I could easily see them choosing to ignore the Acolyte or Kenobi, which would be a damned shame.

[MOC] Tri-Wing S-91x Pegasus Starfighter
TeddytheSpoon replied to TeddytheSpoon's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Thank you! I'm not exactly crazy about the design either, but as a car nerd I thought the idea of a Star Wars ship with touches of real-world vehicles (in this case the Porsche Taycan... Apparently) is really neat. I did consider doing the redesign that EC Henry did for it as @JaCor653 suggested, but that doesn't look right to me either; that said he did do a video on his design process which is a good watch. And yes, they are mudguards! It's essentially a piece of concept art that Porsche and Lucasfilm collaborated on. To my knowledge it hasn't appeared in any Star Wars media aside from the press release for the aforementioned collaboration, but it has its own Wookieepiedia page so that's good enough for me! -
Hi all, I'd like to present my latest MOC of a Star Wars ship that, er, hasn't ever been in Star Wars... Tri-Wing S-91x Pegasus MOC by TeddytheSpoon, on Flickr The Tri-Wing S-91x Pegasus Starfighter is a concept ship that was developed as a collaboration between Lucasfilm and German car manufacturer Porsche's respective design teams. I believe it was originally intended to be in the background of the Battle of Exegol, and the concept art was released to promote the film; although for whatever reason, it doesn't appear to be in the film. (That's only hearsay, by the way, I'm not 100% sure if that's true!) Tri-Wing S-91x Pegasus MOC by TeddytheSpoon, on Flickr The final design uses just over 1300 pieces, and the process was a real mixed bag. The central fuselage came together nicely and I'm very pleased with the cockpit area in particular, but I spent so long trying to find a decent SNOT solution for the wings that I eventually gave up and went with wedge plates. I don't think the result looks too bad though! Tri-Wing S-91x Pegasus MOC by TeddytheSpoon, on Flickr While I think the model is a decent representation of a pretty obscure ship (there's only half a dozen or so pictures that actually exist of this thing), I'll probably continue working on this - I think the landing gear in particular could use some work as it's pretty flimsy. I've also done some experimentation with luminous bricks for the first time, so I will likely do some moody darker renders next to bring them to the fore. Let me know what you think of this strange ship!

For me it depends largely on how big an upgrade the set is. I have the 2012 X-wing but will probably pick up the new one, partly as it's cheap but mostly as I really like some of the design changes. On the other hand, I also have the 2015 Tyderium shuttle, and although we haven't seen proper pics of the new one yet (somehow, isn't that supposed to be coming out in January?!), I probably won't get it since I think the 2015 looks better. For sets I don't have it depends more on the price. I think the 2007 MTT is pretty much perfect for a minifig scale set based on that ship, but given its astronomical value I'd happily settle for the 2014 one as I don't think it looks too bad despite its flaws. The other thing is that most Star Wars sets seem to at least hold their value, if not see it increase, so unless it's a set that's unlikely to get re-made or that you're absolutely desperate to have in your collection, I'd wait for a remake as most of them seem to cycle round eventually.
