LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
TeddytheSpoon replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The forge is a great choice for a set, and with hindsight it seems so obvious that that would've been the retailer exclusive. Not sure I'll pick it up, but is there a chance the third figure could be one of the Aqualish from the start of S2E4 (I think)? The mold for those exist now thanks to the Mos Eisley set... I think the airborne trooper helmet mold is pretty close so I would expect them to use that, although a new one would be nice. -
Picked up the Scout Trooper from Prisma - was considering getting the May 4th promo, but couldn't find anything I really wanted to tip me over the 85EUR limit, so got it from Prisma 5EUR cheaper instead. Very happy with it, it looks great.

New LEGO Speed Champions 2021 Rumors, Speculation

Oooooh the Ford set might have just jumped to the top of my list. Gulf colours, low-profile tyres, headlight stickers that are the right size... And the Bronco is 9-wide! I'm very excited for that. I presume the GT is in light azure? It looks like teal in some pictures.- 755 replies

New LEGO Speed Champions 2021 Rumors, Speculation

Yikes. Not a looker, is it... The rest all look good enough. The Jesko is nice, the 'vettes are fine and the dragster in the Dodge pack looks great. The Elva is definitely the pick of the bunch though - as well as looking great it looks there's some really interesting techniques on it, mainly looking at the sides. I always preferred brick-built headlights over stickers. The stickers are usually either on one piece and too small, or across multiple pieces and don't look like headlights. The C8R might be the best instance I've seen of headlight stickers so far, but they're still not great IMO.- 755 replies

Looks like there's at least three helmets. Never in doubt... That cockpit is hideous though. I'll wait for high-res shots but that's going to get modded out for sure. -

I've been working on the assumption it is anyway. A lot of the set lists have been kind of ambiguous on those two sets, and the contents definitely don't scream $70 based on what we've heard so far. If anyone with more info knows please smite me down and correct me! -

Agreed, the sand blue looks fine. It's arguably closer to the blue colour of the original models used in ANH, which is a nice touch. This picture also shows why the cockpit doesn't look great as well, IMO (I concede this is only a concept, but the one in the show is not much different). The nose and front of the ship are very angular, which you would've thought would translate fairly easily into LEGO, but for some reason they've used that round piece with a sticker which frankly looks nothing like it. The rest of the nose being all angles and sharp slopes only makes it stand out more, and since the cockpit is usually what the eye is drawn to first it doesn't make a great impression. A real shame. -

I'm with you on this one, especially with the starfighter sets that include more than just the pilot, it gives the other figures something to do (hence why I don't think the BB will all fit in the shuttle). This year's X-wing was good but could have benefitted from one of those small service speeders, for instance. -

This is the most important thing in the set. *happy GONK noise* In all seriousness, the cockpit is the only thing that could really ruin the look based on this pic. I'm going to wait until a) we see a picture from the other side (I doubt LEGO will use the anti-studs on the central fin in promo shots), and b) we see a picture of it not in its landed configuration. I'm also guessing the BARC's inclusion alongside the lime green speeder (which is pretty cool) means the set is based on a specific scene or episode. To me the speeders make it less likely all the BB members will fit in the shuttle. You could maaaybe fit two in the cockpit, but I'd wager only one, plus probably two in the back rather than four. The other two get speeders, and the GONK gets left out in the cold, I guess. *sad GONK noise* -

Homestead looks great, there's so many little details. The three-part landspeeder is my favourite by far - LEGO just couldn't resist giving us another one -

The amount of detail in that shuttle description is turning my usual grain of salt into a handful. Do leaks of this nature happen much (aside from the minifig details)? I'm actually not too upset if it does turn out to be sand blue. I love that colour, and it'll make a bit of a change from the vast amount of grey in Star Wars sets (even if it is kinda grey-blue...). Most importantly though, I'm glad they included the most contentious figure of all... A GNK droid. All hail GNK. -

New LEGO Speed Champions 2021 Rumors, Speculation
TeddytheSpoon replied to Bartlomiej's topic in LEGO Town
AFAIK it's because EB is a recognised fan forum (mods, please correct me if I say something stupid!). The best example is that LEGO will occasionally provide sets for contests and such, free of charge. One of the conditions is that EB and its members don't actively share leaks, including pictures (and occasionally links, so I tend to err on the side of caution with that one). Telling people where to find leaks is indirect enough to be OK I think, just no direct sharing.- 755 replies

I wouldn't - 'tis against the rules! There is only one picture on IG so make sure you sort by recent and don't scroll past it. Elva looks reasonable from what we can see. I'm not smitten by the Supra or Jesko, but I will reserve judgment until we get proper pics, which will surely be very soon...- 755 replies

In fairness it's never been easy to get sarcasm across on the Internet! September springs to mind for the gunship but I'm not sure if that's from a reliable source or just the EB rumour telephone game. -

I presume he asked if they were coming in June? Either way I don't think anything can be inferred from that email, at most you could say that there'll be an announcement sooner rather than later from that. The customer service team must get questions like this all the time, especially with the speed at which leaks and rumours spread, so this is probably not far off the typical answer they would give. Where did this August idea come from? As far as I've seen all the reliable sources have been saying June.- 755 replies

90% of the time they end up on a hashtag that rhymes with mego meeks. There are also a few people who occasionally drop hints (but not pictures) there, like falconfan or azani. That said the pictures don't tend to hang around, especially with Star Wars stuff, since the Mouse is always watching. The homestead looks cute. I might wait until that's available before getting the Scout Trooper, I'm sure I can fill my cart up to meet the threshold. -

R2-D2 has made it to Instagram. It's certainly rounder. And it has a feature where you can eject Luke's lightsabre à la ROTJ. That's pretty great. -

I'm not sure they'd make such a popular ship a store exclusive though. The argument of it being on shelves at the same time as the AT-AT kinda goes out the window if they'll only be on the same shelves in one store... On the flip side, if that were the case I would hope it being a store exclusive would entice them to add something more interesting to the set - maybe like the Wampa cave from a few years back. -

I think LEGO should (and will) keep the theme going. I feel like the longevity that Racers had (notwithstanding the last year or two) showed that cars make pretty popular toys, and SC is no different. As long as manufacturers keep coming to them, they'll keep making them. I'm not sure about the effect this year will have on future waves though. It all depends on how far into the development the June sets were before the decision was made to push it back; if they were quite far behind, I would expect them to change to a June cycle to deal with the knock-on effect. If they just had finishing touches to make, and consequently the following wave's development is not too badly affected, I'd imagine they'll stick to January. That's pure speculation on my part though.- 755 replies

Wishlist: Future Star Wars Sets and Minifigures
TeddytheSpoon replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
+1 for cantina. After putting it in my last post I can't stop thinking about how great it could be. You could include virtually every major character from the film, since they all appear there in some form or another. I was going to say ROTS for the Venator, but thinking about it TCW probably makes more sense, although the only difference I'm aware of between the two is what minifigures would be in it. I'd throw Yularen and maybe another deck officer in there, but you could argue that anyone from Rex to Anakin should take up the second spot. -

Yeah, not confident on that one. I feel like it getting revealed is reasonably likely, but I imagine it will be analogous to the Razor Crest and released with the rest in summer (which I presume is August?). -

I think the helmets, probe droid and whatever the May UCS is (R2-D2?) are the only ones coming between now and then.
