Hi Michael, Welcome to EB!! The image you have posted is too big. The maximum size for images is 1024 wide. Please try to follow the site guidelines next time you embed an image. (you can always save an image to Flickr or Bricksafe an embed the scaled down version). Thanks in advance

Adobe Premiere is great indeed! You can also try GoPro Studio. Very simple piece of software. Sony Vegas possibly.

Technic General Discussion
Jim replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
We have a pinned index, which pretty much contains all the useful topics Most of the subforums have an index with the most important information. Rules are indeed the same for each section/subforum of the site, so they are described in the site guidelines (link in my footer). -
Davekuhh's Detailed LEGO models
Jim replied to Davekuhh's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The Caterpillar is stunning, no doubt about it. But what I like even more are the tracks on the ground behind it. You've flattened the ground where the Caterpillar has driven. That, my man, is eye for detail!! -

Please don't revive an 8 year (!!) old topic, without adding some useful information! -
[TC8] Gantry Crane
Jim replied to paave's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This is the quintessential crane contest entry! Limited number of parts Simple design Great functionality Perfect presentation (love the intro of your video) Your entry proves that a contest entry can be relatively "simple". Very nice -
Hi, This is absolutely fantastic! But some of your images are wider than 1024 pixels. Can you modify your post and/or images to meet EB's guidelines regarding image size? Thanks!

HiTechnic IRLink Sensor
Jim replied to knotian's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Exactly! You can send messages to 4 IR receivers, each with 2 motors. So you can control 8 motors with a single IRLink (if I am not mistaken). (More if you run multiple motors on a single channel of course) If you put your IRLink in a closed section with 4 receivers, you can use multiple IRLinks to control even more PF motors, but that's theoretical. Be aware that you can't precisely control a PF motor. -
HiTechnic IRLink Sensor
Jim replied to knotian's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
If I am not mistaken, you use the sensor port. Maybe this will help: http://www.ev3dev.org/docs/sensors/ -
HiTechnic IRLink Sensor
Jim replied to knotian's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Exactly what I had in my mind. You can use the Mindstorms motor for precision control and the PF motors for auxiliary functions. -

You're welcome! It does. I have tested it and it's an easy way to control your robot. -

I remember seeing one of them, so I must have forgotten about the others -
HiTechnic IRLink Sensor
Jim replied to knotian's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi, There's two types of IR sensors supplied by HiTechnic: IRReceiver IRLink The first is to Receive IR commands and the second is to Send IR commands. The IR Link will work with EV3. Here's the software: https://www.hitechnic.com/downloadnew.php?category=38 Or on the bottom of this page: https://www.hitechnic.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=NIL1046 According to HiTechnic, the complete range of sensors is now supported on EV3: -
[MOC] Mad Max War Rig Midi
Jim replied to KirTech LAB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Very cool! About time some cool Mad Max MOCs appeared. -
I'm afraid I can't allow this MOC in the contest. It's a great MOC, but it's already shown at an event. I know the rules state "never posted before" but it also means "never shown before". I will alter the specific rule. Contest are meant to build a new MOC, not to enter an existing MOC, already shown oline or at an event. I hope you will understand why that wouldn't be fair.

You're welcome. I'm afraid it does mean you can't join the contest. At least not with this model. One of the basic principles about our contests is creating a new MOC. Sometimes people get lucky because they've already started building a MOC. When they haven't shown their progress, they can enter the contest with that model. That's the "grey area", while you are definitely in the "black area" Nonetheless; you have created a fantastic model and I would love to see some more pictures!!
