Nice work Doc! Simple, yet very sturdy and it resembles the real crane very well. Can't wait for the video.- 34 replies

REVIEW: 70751 Temple of Airjitzu
Jim replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Great review, for an equally great set! I don't collect Ninjago, but I am still very temped to buy this set. I could definitely learn a thing or two building this set -
Don't worry about your English, it's fine! Picture size is 1024 max wide. A suggestions for making better pictures with your handy is to take your model outside and shoot in broad daylight. This will significantly increase the quality. This is the entry topic. I will add the necessary information shortly: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=114321 It's a very cool creation by the way. The latest picture does suggest you've already shown this model to an audience. I'd like to know the details, since it's only allowed to use a model never shown before.

Hi, Sorry to bump this topic, but I didn't want to start a new topic. Superkalle, slap me in the face if this isn't the right topic I am designing a modular building in LDD. I run into some troubles when I want to determine the right angle (and right parts) to make an awning/porch. What's the best approach to determine the right parts (which hinges/clips etc) and the right angle? I know there are standard angles but I am not totally sure how to proceed. Any hints/tips are welcome.

[REVIEW] 42039 - 24 Hours Race Car
Jim replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks Glad you like it. Nice comparison picture. I know it's a big model, but your image definitely proves it's huge!! -
Hi, Welcome to EB! I have changed the title of your topic, to be a bit more specific. Like Jay Psi said, you can build Nathanael Kuiper's Predator, but I recommend building Nathanael's Concept Car first. It's probably one of the best (modular) car builds you can find. I'm not a big fan of the exterior, but the build is outstanding, and you will learn a lot about building cars, in a modular fashion. Highly recommended! Since you don't have all the parts, you can skip the bodywork if you like. Maybe use the chassis and build your own body. At least get the instructions, for educational purposes. If you like to know which sets to buy in general, this might be a nice topic for you to read: Which Technic Set should I buy? My second recommendation is to buy the 42039 - 24 Hour Race Car. It's a great build with a lot of useful Car parts. You can read my review to find out why I love this set so much. Bear in mind that the Concept Car and 42039 use different Tire sizes. Additionally, you can buy the 42000 Grand Prix Racer, which uses the same Tires as the Concept Car and also has a lot of Car parts. So getting the 42039 AND the 42000 will provide you with lots of parts and options. 1. Buy and Build the 42039 2. Buy and Build the 42000 3. Get Nathanael's Concept Car Instructions 4. Check which parts you are missing to build the Concept Car chassis 5. Put the missing parts on a Bricklink wanted list and locate the best shops, or get one or two sets which will cover the majority of the missing parts 6. Build the Concept Car chassis 7. Evaluate and plan your own MOC You can use Rebrickable to help you find the missing parts. I think getting both the 42039 and 42000 will get you a long way.

Best set never told...I mean sold
Jim replied to Kman860's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Got all the Technic sets I liked, and then some. I only missed the 10179 UCS Millennium Falcon which I REALLY REALLY regret. I would have bought two if I knew what I know now. -

We hiked two trails, the Bright Angel Trail and South Kaibab Trail. Bright Angel Trail we went down to the 3-mile point. Took as 2,5 hours down and 2,5 hours up. Downwards I took most of my pictures and shot most of my movies, that's why it didn't take much more time going up. We did like Bright Angel better than South Kaibab (we went to the 1,5 mile point). The view might be better on certain points of South Kaibab, but the Bright Angel hike is more fun. We did the Bright Angel first and it was a unique experience. If we did the South Kaibab first, we might have liked that one better. Not sure. The first look at the Grand Canyon (at the start of Bright Angel Trail) is something I will never forget. When you go see a mountain, you are prepared because you see the mountain from a distance. But seeing a Canyon is much different. It's suddenly there, and it's huge! The grandeur of the Grand Canyon is unprecedented. We also did the Helicopter tour by the way, which was even more awesome! Flying over the trees and suddenly the tree line stops and you are flying over the Canyon. Amazing! -

We sure did. This was a very special (if not once in a lifetime) experience. I will probably elaborate more on certain parts, but the Grand Canyon was definitely the most amazing experience! Wow! Being a scifi nerd and all, driving the Extra Terrestrial highway alongside Area 51 was very cool too -

Won't take me that long About 3000 shots I think (not even sure). But I will limit it to around 250 shots. Hopefully I will be ready by next weekend or so. I'm more concerned about the videos shot with my GoPro. That project will probably take at least a year, possibly more -
I hear you! Time can be a restricted asset Assuming you have a smart phone, shooting a video can be done in 5 minutes. Add another 5 to upload it to youtube and you are good to go. Bigger doesn't mean better. Sometimes the smaller, more compact MOCs are way better than the big ones. I wouldn't let expectations stop me from participating. After all; the contest is meant to have fun, and maybe learn a thing or two.

I concur! This is a very cool AND original MOC!
