[HELP] 42009 Missing Parts
Jim replied to PauloS's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
You are missing these parts? Which parts do you have left? Can you post a picture? -
Please don't bump an old topic just to say it's nice. Only bump a topic when you have something meaningful to add.

The mails are not in the spam folder. I am experiencing the same lack of notifications.

Agreed! Or you can adjust the WB in Lightroom/Photoshop/... I always postprocess my pictures in Lightroom and I always adjust the WB. Another thing you can try is pointing the lamps upwards, instead of pointing at the model. This will result in less shine.

[HELP] Pneumatic Valves
Jim replied to DK-Brickfan's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Cool! I recommend creating a BrickSafe (very easy) or Flickr (widely used) account. It's very useful for hosting your own pictures. -

Save the picture, upload it to your own BrickSafe or Flickr account, and embed a smaller version. Otherwise you can simply link the image, instead of embedding it. -

Your images is way too big. Can you limit the pictures to 1024 wide, according to site guidelines. -

This topic is ok, but there's also a dedicated Pneumatic General Discussion topic. I have added it to the Index. -

I was thinking 10 weeks, so if you start right away, you will have 11 Or, what we could do, is set a deadline for the A-model, finish it. And then everybody gets another 4 to 6 weeks for the B-model. The deadline for A-model could be 1st of Jan. -

Exactly. Not a specific period. You can post a WIP topic when you can show WIP, that means a picture of a model in progress. -

Exactly. You can still build a plane. It's wide and long, but it's not so high. -

Great! I see a couple of Yes's, some maybe's and hardly any Nooooo's! I will continue to set things up. You can expect this to go online after the current contest closes. Oh, and for the maybe's and No's......there will be prizes....great prizes! -

I'm not to sure about it. There's gonna be debate about "big parts". I'd rather stick to "no extra parts". That's the main challenge of this competition. Or you need to get out of your comfort zone If you build and awesome A-model, people will understand that the B-model isn't quite as good. After all, that's what TLG has been doing for years (maybe a few exceptions). -
It will simply be a NO. Guidelines state that TLG won't release sets which are related to a current theme (or a rule like that).

Looks very cool! I love it! Some of your pictures a way too large by the way. The maximum size is 1024 wide. Can you embed smaller versions of the images? If you use BrickSafe or Flickr, you can upload the hires versions and embed the smaller ones. I also recommend trimming the whitespace in some of the pictures! Good luck with your project

Generic Contest Discussion

Since I see a lot of positive reactions, I think we can continue with this contest. Let's choose either a weight or a dimension limit. I think a dimension limit will be the better choice. One needs to state the L x W x H and thus the volume in cubic studs I really like MajklSpajkl's idea of a volume limit. Instead of having a fixed x y z limit, the total volume of both the A- and B-model's bounding box needs to be limited to .... cubic studs. Examples: 31x21x15 = 9765 25x25x10 = 6250 45x10x7 = 3150 Let's define the volume limit. Any suggestions? I don't want the models to be too big, let's say medium sized. I'm thinking A4/Letter and 15 studs high or something. Maybe 10.000 cubic studs would be okay. That still leaves ample space to make decent models.
