  1. That's laughable. They have profits in the billions. It isn't like they are some local mom and pop shop. Yes, family owned business. But still one of the largest toy manufacturers in the world...they should have a better online presence/IT department. Get Moss in there and fix it up!
  2. I am also surprised this didn't get more recognition, but since it was necromanced, I'll comment. I didn't see it the first time around. I think these hit the expansion on the head. Very clever. I'd like to see them a little taller maybe, but that's just because I think the official set is a bit small. But these would fit right in. I really like the sign on Potage's with the cauldron. Very clever.
  3. That's the problem...they all add a bit to the story, so you leave some out, then who gets the axe? After you gut them, who is left? Ryan, Kelly, and Angela? You think those three portray the best of the supporting cast? I feel like all of the background characters would need to be there to feel complete if it is a true Office set. I guess this is why I'm not in charge of IDEAS or making my own submissions. Friends had the main cast and Gunther was a nice toss in. Big Bang Theory had the main cast. Seinfeld will have the main group. Office has a huge group that all have a pretty steady part and not just throw away characters. *Shrugs* Just my opinion.
  4. I just received my order from 12/11, so the 5-7 week is accurate. It wasn't in my order list, so I ended up ordering a lot of the same pieces again because they were taking so long and I thought it maybe got lost. Turns out it was just so far behind. I don't know why it didn't show up in my order summary though. Oh well. I'll have to find a use for the pieces somewhere. I've never sold the pieces, but where does it say they can't be resold? It says they can't be used for marketing campaigns whatnot, but I've never seen it directly saying you can't resell the parts. (again I have no intention of doing that since I am a collector/builder, not a reseller).
  5. I love The Office. I can only imagine they would have to remove a lot to make it a set. The supporting cast is plentiful and important, but I could see them cutting out most of the group and leaving only Michael, Jim, Pam, Dwight. This build while captures a lot of the great parts of it, is really crowded (I understand limitations and wanting to keep it smaller). Having the full office is great for fans of the show, but also less likely to actually pass review. Good luck!
  6. Well done. The man falling after getting hit is very clever. I have always tried to not create a big gray wall issue with castles and I always hit too much variety in texture or too little. I think this nails it on just the right amount of coloration/texture. Great set up overall. Well done.
  7. I really liked the removable horns, especially the dark brown ones. That actually looks like an interesting animal that I may have to include in some of my builds. Also, thanks for the slate pictures. Those really help seal how it should look. I am impressed by the official set. I didn't vote for the original submission. Depending on price, I may have bought either, but I do like the brighter colors more. Why would I want something so drab on my shelf? For the rest, how hard is it to be the A in AFOL. Yes, negative comments will happen. We won't love everything TLG does, but adulting isn't that hard. I think the designer knocked it out of the park here. (I'm also trying to be more positive in my own life because everything else in the world is so negative)
  8. I agree sometimes size in person is different than pictures. But still, another $150 set is tough to chew. TOO many large beautiful sets. Hard to miss out on some, but will have to.
  9. Interesting about the missing pins. We all likely have tons of spares, so it isn't a deal breaker. But odd, that they wouldn't be included considering that was the "appeal" of the set to be able to connect to others. I've never used the pins, so it doesn't worry me. And our LUG does a MILS standard so everything gets built baseplate, brick, plate, tile. So I guess if they phase out the baseplates, we will have to stock up on them for future layouts. Granted, most of the official builds aren't built or included in our layout for our shows.
  10. He's my king from this day to his last day. To the King in the NORTH! Beautifully done. The details make the MOC, but the characters help sell it. That flooring is clever. The candles look great, the chairs. It all works! Well done!
  11. The house looks great. I didn’t buy the set because I didn’t love it (I did buy the figures though). obviously adding stairs would have been preferable but I understand with limited space. my only concern with the build is the yard being overgrown. I feel Vernon would make sure it is trimmed because he’d be worried what the neighbors thought.
  12. Considering they made the LOTR ship and that was useless. They will make a ship of some kind if they can. It will appease pirates fans and HP fans. with that said, let’s be honest. I’ll buy the lot no matter what they end up selling us.
  13. I loved that set. In fact it is the only set that has been built since I got it. So 30+ years?! it is on my shelf. Crusaders and Black Knights, Falcons, Forestmen, Wolfpack. That whole era was top notch. I miss those days of my youth. my friend Aaron and I would play with them and Pirates all the time after church on Sundays.
  14. Very well done. Glad to see the final result of that spider. The bananas work well for the fangs. Are the flex tubes on the trees official LEGO or do you have a source for various colors? I've been wanting more browns for trees myself.
  15. Or they could use a Bombur minifigure torso/hear cover combo that inflates the body mass? But the Spongebob figure looks the best.
  16. All of those pieces for the orange spaceman come up as No Results. So maybe one day they will be available again.
  17. I hate you. I hate you for your creativity! This is incredible! I will echo what everyone else has said. I was awestruck by your earlier Elves inspired builds (like the university). This blows everything out of the water. Because of you I wanted to build something bigger Elves related and I kept planning and MOCing it up and it was getting too large for my ability, so I quickly got overwhelmed. Seeing this proves it can be done. It also proves I would have needed even more space than I originally thought, so again, overwhelmed. You don't see enough Elves related builds at conventions. I wanted to do this to bring something to the table for the other kids that aren't necessarily into spaceships or star wars (that seems to be the only thing I see at shows anymore). Maybe this will reignite the fire within me and I can create something a quarter as amazing. Honestly, you rocked it. Keep up the great work.
  18. I'm surprised at the hate. This thing is gorgeous. Too expensive for my taste, so I won't be able to get it. But it looks spot on. I realize I've never seen it in person. I'm going off of pictures only. But when you type in Colosseum in google and find a picture with multiple cars outside of it that are white, you can clearly see this is a TAN structure. I can understand why they chose the colors they did. Either way, we all have our own opinions, so I'm not going to argue about color choices. I think the set looks great and I would love to buy it if I could.
  19. I’m hoping if the $250 set IS Gringotts, then it better have other shops with it. considering the size and expense of all of Diagon Alley, to only have one building at over half the cost?? Seems crazy. It would be way out of scale then. if each booklet has the one 16x32 baseplate, each booklet would have about 1200 pieces or so, meaning $100+ each makes sense. Either way, it would seem a bit quick to have another huge set like Hogsmeade, but alas here we are with the price listed.
  20. @Modal looks great! I was planning on doing something similar. It definitely breaks up the pink and makes it feel like a separate building. Nice work on window detailing. I was thinking of going another way with it. I may be one of the few but I really like the pink. I just think we can tweak it a little.
  21. I really enjoyed that show as a kid. Then when my daughter was little (2ish) it was on Nick @ Nite and she would love watching it before bed. I think Fran’s voice caught her attention and she liked it. Either way, good memories. onto the build! This looks incredible. You captured all the right details. I hadn’t planned on building this building, but I do like building iconic settings. I may have to revisit this idea in the future. thanks for sharing
  22. I have too many blocks/limits on my phone that I can’t see the leak. But this is one set I’m excited about, yet also keep forgetting about... It will still be an early purchase for me I’m sure. Nostalgia is strong.
  23. I have that book. It’s quite fun in terms of behind the scenes. Also when I went to Universal Studios I took way too many photos to build Diagon Alley. Unfortunately life got in the way and I never did and now Lego went ahead and did a bang up job without me. Oh well. and look at that building next to Ollivanders in the picture...it has a nice pink color ?
  24. Thanks for the review. I ordered it immediately based on bad pictures alone. Seeing this review shows no regrets! This thing looks amazing. I can't wait to build it. Although I may build it up more MILS style since the stand alone baseplate is so flimsy and all of my other modulars are MILS'd up. I also can't wait to design a few other buildings to throw in there. Downside, I won't have stickers or printed pieces, so it won't look as appealing.
  25. I keep forgetting about this set. Another expensive set I'll have to add to the list...this is getting frustrating. If only I had more money, and time to build them, and space to display them, and...
