  1. I always do smaller orders whenever something comes in stock. Yes, it sucks having to pay multiple shipping fees, but at least you get what you need without worry of it going out of stock later. The problem, a lot of small orders add up to a lot of money spent still. I've spent more on BnP this year than ever before and I've been buying from them for at least 8 years.
  2. So do I wait to order or order now for double points? While the GWP is decent enough, it isn't like I HAVE to have it. Other than the tiles (since I only have 7 and lots of doubles) and the pearl gold piece for the end of the bed, I could probably build it with pieces I have laying around. And the figures aren't unique, so they aren't selling points. But I figured it's free HP LEGO, so I'll wait to order, even though Double points sounds more enticing (or just go to Target and get instant 5% off)...now I have a few days to decide I guess.
  3. I saw it was constantly out of stock online and I agree, I wouldn't pay much more for it than MSRP. It was on ebay for mid-$20s earlier this summer. I don't live near a store (3 hours away), but the "local" store had some in stock and a LUGmate happened to be going that way so I asked if they'd pick me up a copy. It does stink being so short lived. Not sure why that happens sometimes. I guess they produce a certain amount and call it good.
  4. No parking in there huh? Craziness! That's quite the city layout of classic mixed with new sets. I have all of my childhood sets from late 80s/early 90s. I don't have any of them built. They are all stored in bags in totes in my basement away from my other more modern sets. I loved that yellow train station. They redid it in red, but I think I prefer the yellow one (because I own it )
  5. Did they alert you they were expiring or are you assuming? I have a mass of points saved up. I guess I should get to spending before they are lost.
  6. Now I want to buy Playmobil... c'mon LEGO give us some Historic sets!
  7. I still need to pick up some HP sets, so I'll hold off until this freebie comes out. While it isn't the most exciting set, it's free, so I'm happy. I likely wouldn't purchase it if it was available that way. Now I just have to hope the sets I want will be available come 10/25.
  8. That's incredible! I love the scaling much better here. The larger head works better for me, but I think the smaller one also works quite well. Good job capturing the structure!
  9. I liked Playmobil as a kid, but never really owned any. I went over to a friend's house that had some. But he also had a lot of LEGO (and so did I), so we mostly played with the LEGO blocks instead (and yes, castle was our theme of choice, followed by Pirates). I did like seeing the "CMF" of Playmobil in the store. It is a big package with a clear front and showed all the figures you'd get, and it was super affordable also...
  10. Well done! I really liked that movie when it came out. If it had Zhang Ziyi in it, I sure enough watched it. The colors work really well here. Kudos!
  11. I've never understood steampunk. It just doesn't click on my brain. I see it and can understand the theme idea, but for me to create something on my own I'm always a blank. This is incredible. I love the buildings. Especially the central part of the central building. That windscreen in white really works well there. I may have to borrow that idea in a future build. And those minifigures are just darling.
  12. Well done! So many tiny details. Incredible. It makes me almost miss building Dutch buildings haha...almost. I don't think I could handle that much SNOT in that small of a space, so very clever.
  13. Lovely recreations! 2021 is the year of Amsterdam for me.... I spent waaaay too much time pouring over photos and Google street view to build 6 different real Dutch buildings. Maybe one of these days I'll get pictures and post them on Eurobricks. But I mention it only because I also built Prinsengracht 2!! I know that building well thanks to it being seared into my brain earlier this year. Your mini creations are spot on. You nailed the shaping/coloring really well. Kudos.
  14. Unless they want to role play Harry being left alone and has to fight off two dark wizards. Oh the humanity! And they don't even mention the word Horcrux until Half Blood Prince right? So that is interesting, since most kids that are into Build a Bear likely wouldn't know what a Horcrux was since most aren't that far into the series by that age (only an assumption).
  15. I can't speak for everyone, but Fawkes and Chess Set (and The Burrow) are all Target exclusives, so I don't know how that limits their sales. But I rarely see them on the shelves in my local stores (we have 3 Targets in my place of residence). We also don't have a LEGO store, so I don't know about their stock levels. Last time I went to our Super Target, they had Privet Drive, a few Moments sets, and the higher priced sets wrapped in a Spider wrap. But none of the mid range or cheaper sets were really available in this theme.
  16. I'm curious as to where you think this is a best selling set? At least around here, it has been a shelf warmer and was even discounted 20% immediately and still sitting on shelves. While other sets (even more expensive) sold out all around it. I realize, my n=1 study doesn't speak for the world, but just an observation. And I would agree, it is a bit more iconic than Grimmauld Place, especially considering LEGO isn't really feeling out those later stories when they would actually spend time at the place. Plus, I doubt they would include too many details from the books no matter how much they want to.
  17. I've never played Skyrim, but either way, this is an amazing build. The scale, the proportions, the coloring...it all works together really well. The rounded roof works really well, but you could probably even not have it rounded and the whole build would still look really good. So well done there. And I agree, the bird/nest looks like a nice little detail.
  18. I did not know that. That DOES sound useful... however, mine always says no packages being delivered today, when clearly I have packages waiting. I'm guessing someone at my local office just isn't scanning properly or clicking the right boxes? Who knows. I'll have to keep an eye out going forward and see if anything happens. But so far, my experience has been just extra junk mail basically.
  19. Regarding the full purple coat Joker...didn't we already get him in the original Tumbler? You mean, a re-release of that figure also in an upcoming set?
  20. Yeah, so you can see what you are getting in the mail that day... it's no different than just being surprised when you open the mailbox. I get an email summary daily saying here's what you're getting in the mail. And usually it is a blank image saying "we don't have a picture of this item" or something like that, so it is really a useless service so far.
  21. But the problem with book details...LEGO doesn't care about them. They have licenses for the movies so that is what they will use. Right? Sure, I'd love more house elves like Winky, but since they were cut entirely from the 4th movie, I highly doubt they'd ever put them in a set.
  22. LEGO can track anything, but it's a shame they don't let us in on that info so we can follow it. It took 8 weeks to get a shipment this summer. At about 7 weeks, I contacted them and they let me know where it was located so I should be patient...well if I was able to track it earlier, then I wouldn't even have to contact you...*shrugs*
  23. Hello all, I don't post much in this forum. I didn't see anything in the search function or at Rebrickable (unless I overlooked it). Does anyone know or have they tried converting the old Artoo to the new version. Like if I have the original, but wanted to modify it to the new one, how many pieces are similar/what would I need to buy to modify it? I was hoping someone else did it so I wouldn't have to do the legwork Thanks!
  24. That's neat. I don't recall seeing many advertisements for Rebuild the world outside of that weird commercial with the dude with a carrot gun. But other than that I haven't see that picture before. So I can't say it was in plain sight, even though it was haha.
