  1. I don't think the $470 is Dobby related, but I wonder if they will ever do a $70-100 version of Dobby like Grogu or Yoda. It may look good, or terrible. And I agree on sometimes just buying the bits you want hits close enough to the official set price (or a mild sale if you can find it), so might as well just get the set. That's how I've ended up with a massive piece collection that I'll likely never use because of certain Marvel sets purchased for figures and now the pieces sit there. At least with multiple Hogwarts inspired sets can be MOCed to a bigger Hogwarts or other tan style buildings.
  2. Maybe they chose this time because of Double Points. Just another way to stick it to the customer. *shrug* I ordered days ago when it was the old way. I guess we will see how the new way goes. I'm expecting smooth sailing going forward since there are never any bugs to work out...
  3. I mean, this makes sense and is highly sought after. Concerns me on the price since too many large sets are coming out that will be awesome. And it is easy to say just wait because it will be around a while, but during that time more awesome expensive sets will be released. You really can't win. So you have to choose which means the most to you. For that, I say Castle wins out. Long time coming. As others, I'd expect/hope for some animals (and not just a frog or a chicken) and a variety of figures. You'd assume some new civilians. If there is anything like a joust, it will be too similar to Kingdoms joust since it had a lion faction vs a black falcon faction.
  4. I will agree I wouldn't have noticed if you didn't tell us it had some painted parts. Overall the shaping looks really well done. I love the chrome on the grill. That front area captures the '50s Mercury really well. My dad has a 1954 Mercury Monterey in seafoam green. So this is neat to see.
  5. I've made lists where I write down the ID number with a brief description with all of my wanted pieces. Then when I order it, I just place a check next to it. I have been known to write OOS (out of stock) if it is next to a piece I really want so I know to look for that one first the next time. I don't know how well it works because I think I still re-order stuff since it takes so long in-between orders and once I receive stuff I get rid of the list since I wouldn't need it anymore. But then I forget what I ordered and order a second copy. It really only becomes a problem with new minifigure torsos or some of the Chinese printed tiles.
  6. You're right, we should do away with the minifigure and make them all minidolls... I always forget what I order when I order it, so I'll have to see if I grabbed any of those Friends hairpieces, but they look great.
  7. Vernon was seen in two places. The zoo or Privet Drive. It is a strange coincidence that the torso would be so similar, but I wouldn't read into it.
  8. I love the shaping here. Really nailed it. The color definitely pops, but I could also see it in a different color still looking solid. Thanks for sharing.
  9. Thanks for the review. I think the designer did a great job with what they had to work with. Very hard shapes to come up with. But they nailed it as far as I can tell. But I think I'll pass on the set for now. I like cars, but not a big enough car guy that I have to have all the SC sets. Just a select few.
  10. I Called customer service to try to order elephant bodies. The representative said they do not sell pieces unless it is listed as available on the website. Which contradicts what people on here have said. So it really does depend on if you get a "cool" rep or one following orders. I explained people have ordered them and put them on backorder. She claimed they don't have that ability. So no elephants for me until they become available (if ever).
  11. Since this thread has been so busy, I haven't kept up with EVERY topic. But I did notice Walmart here had the new HP sets out early. I looked at the box and the hospital wing has the Wizard frog tiles like the anniversary sets. Are these new or just more of the same from last year? I assumed it was finished since it isn't the anniversary year again.
  12. This is obviously a popular choice of MOC. I built one last year, but never got around to taking pictures of it. It's funny how different builds can be based on the individual even though the subject matter didn't change. With all of that said, your MOC looks great. The colors work really well together. I went all dark orange, but the mixture of medium nougat and dark orange always look nice together. The texture on the columns work really well.
  13. Think you're so fancy using details on the side instead of the boring/plain version we will be getting in a few months This is incredible for sure. So much detail. The scale looks impressive. The coloring works really well. Well done
  14. I guess combining orders would cut down on shipping? But I'd also think one large order would take significantly longer to pack and get ready to ship than some smaller orders, so breaking it up makes more sense to me (but also our shipping is affordable).
  15. While that taxi looks really neat, it doesn't give me taxi vibes. And it also looks easy to rebuild from pieces, so $200 plus this for free, or since nothing is in stock can maybe piece it together for a tiny fraction of the cost. I may just build it to be a regular car in the city instead of a taxi anyway.
  16. Some neat features here for sure. Great job on the mid century vibes. I love the retro tv and stereo. I was hoping to see a modularized version of Paradisa from the mid 90s so was a bit disappointed to see this beautiful MOC. hehe Also, I will agree on the word plot. Made me second guess a bit, but I then decided not to think anything of it since that pond between us seems to alter word usage.
  17. Those dark gray squirrels will be elusive here. The rest were available, except for them. They will survive for another day.
  18. Even if the set didn't sell well at MSRP, I did end up buying it at 30% off. I've never watched the show. But it does have some neat details and pieces. And new prints on figures is always welcome. So if it had MSRP at the after 30% off price, maybe it would have sold better initially (although taking a cut from initial profits).
  19. Well done! Very tricky shaping, but you nailed it. The teeth look fine, and I like the open mouth/smoke look for him. Fits his character. Now, do you prefer David Harbour or Ron Pearlman as your live action actor?
  20. I recently was charged for my order that I placed in early December, so I guess that means it will be shipping soon since they normally charge you when it ships. So I guess there's that.
  21. If it is Dobby's sock, hopefully they throw in a Yoda/Artoo sized Dobby and maybe a Kreacher also for that price. I would think Gringotts is most likely, but also I don't want to pay $500 for another large scale HP set...money is tight as it is and this is the only theme I care about.
  22. I don't care about the set, but I need that Mrs. Claus! Such an improvement over the Santa Village set years ago.
  23. Nevermind. I looked on Bricklink and saw some really old window pieces from the late 60s that look similar to what you used.
  24. But Diagon Alley 2.0 being $70 more than the previous version...what could they really include? Gringotts yes. The dragon maybe. But if they want to keep them at similar scale, that is less than $200. Including carts and track and stuff inside is a neat idea but wouldn't go with the rest of the layout which would be upsetting for most people. Including these other random shops that were barely in the movies *shrug*. I mean, I'll take more HP. As much as they want to give me, but at $470....it has to be something very worthwhile. With the number of high dollar sets they keep putting out, money becomes a lot tighter. I think an extension of the microscale Hogwarts would be silly. We already have the most important/recognizable parts of the castle, so are people willing to spend more than the original for some greenhouses and a few other towers. Either way. I can't wait to see it. I won't speculate since no reason to get my hopes up. Maybe LEGO will surprise me.
  25. ^They can have free shipping if you are also buying other stuff from S@H that achieves free shipping. But not if only buying BnP.
