There are only two options: - Create a new application that fulfills all of your wishes - Use existing apps and live with the limitations If you want to create your own app, be aware that you have to take care of it for years ;) Creating the Jeroen Ottens Version of the Control+ app just for your models without any option for customization would be easier, but I'm not sure if it would be wise to do so =/ In case of "Control+ Hub": - Calibration and deviding the range of values can be done in the Powered Up - App. Calibration will not be stored between sessions. - The interface can not be customized at the moment. You can select many different functions, but you have to do it with the three available buttons and two sliders (there are two numbers, that can indicate the selected funktion). The logic required is easy to implement with the logic-blocks. - Again: Doable, but the interface would be complicated. Edit: The interface thing is only half true. You can of course access the functions directly in the block interface. - Skins are not available in Powered Up. Edit2: I do not know if there is any possibility to easily share configurations. A few ifs and maybes: If the Sbrick team releases their new version soon and it can do everything you want: Use the sbrick app. Maybe contact them for informations. Lego continues to release updates for Powered Up on a "regular" basis. I'm sure they will add a customizeable interface someday... there is an unofficial announcement for a new update at the end of this month, maybe they add something essential ;) (I do not think so)

LEGO, Quo Vadis? Some Thoughts on a New Business Model
Gimmick replied to legotownlinz's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It's usually ok if you do not use the protected names and logos. It is/was even ok to sell toys/models of cars with the original emblem and name without buying a license (EuGH Opel vs Autec). But since ~2016 things seems to have changed (VW vs Premium Classixxs) and some toy companies are talking up to 15% price increase just because of licensing . Control+ General Discussion
Gimmick replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Pretty nice. At least they are aware of the downsides and are working on them. I'm looking forward to the infos/updates at the end of this month. Maybe wrong priorities have been set in the past, maybe not - difficult to say and I will not judge them, but the big slow Lego ship seems to be on the right course now. Hope there will be a more functional remote control in the future. -
[APP] BrickController2
Gimmick replied to imurvai's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It's not a range problem, but a "protocoll thing" - no idea what exactly is wrong. I bought a cheap clip for the pad to attach the phone :D works pretty good.- 1,316 replies

Additional info: if the phone and controller can be used with OTG-USB cable it should work better. maybe @imurvai can give an recomendation concerning the phone/pad combination.- 1,316 replies

[APP] BrickController2
Gimmick replied to imurvai's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'm using a XBOX controller, @kbalage uses a ipega PG-9025, others a playstation controller... not sure if there is "the best" You can change the Buwizz output modes while using a gamepad, not sure if you can bind this function to a button. You do not gain extra speed, the limit of the hub is the same. But if the Control+ profile has built in limits like the 42109 profile they do not affect you anymore of course. I have the same smartphone, currently there seems to be a bug in Android, that can cause huge delays. You can fix that with the "Bluetooth Auto Connect"-App (see above) - but it gets a bit laborious tbh. =/- 1,316 replies

MOCs vs Official Sets
Gimmick replied to nerdsforprez's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I know the older "HdS" videos as well and the and the criticism that they are wasting so much potential was largely related to the fact that he is missing models as addition to existing things (trailers for trucks etc) and that he does not understand why some sub-themes like tractors are not always available. So he basically sees the potential for a more constant and complete world of models. My 2 cents: I don't see the basis for this argument, since there is no way to know for sure how this completely different product strategy will end. TLG does fine at the moment, "much wasted potential" would imply even more profit.. as I said, not sure how anyone could garanty that. Just sum up the models of the last couple of years and add trailers, machines etc. for every truck, tractor, crane... would be very heavy catalog. ;) If companies like Cada continue to improve TLG has to and will react to it, which basically means: customers will win ;) -
MOCs vs Official Sets
Gimmick replied to nerdsforprez's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
But does that not imply that there are other reasons than incapable TLG designers? Some models are very well done, others have obvious flaws and both types were created by the same guy... as if they were saying: "Oh the door was flimsy? I didn't even notice!" They create multiple variations of a model before its release, we don't know what guidelines they have to follow. I therefore find it fair to discuss objective flaws without directly attacking the designer. Especially when you look at some B-models from TLG-designers. :) -
Evolution or involution?

Nice solution :D I do not own the corvette, but I thought the steering system one of the better things? Small, creative and works well? :|- 54 replies

Evolution or involution?
Gimmick replied to astral brick's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
... wasn't sure if I should mention LAs exactly because of that. But it's an improvement in playability so kind of an evolution, things don't have to get better in every aspect to represent kind of an evolution ^^. That's the always the Lego dilemma. A real W16 or boxer is only possible with new very specialized parts. So if they decide to build a licensed model shouldn't they use these parts to create an optimal model? But if they do isn't that kind of the opposit of the Lego-System? So should they stop building licensed models because they cannot display the reality completely? But if we continue that thought: What about LAs? What about all engine? You know, in reality the engine moves the car, not the other way around :D And what about almost everything else, do the things really work the way in reality as they do in the Lego world especially in cheap sets? So should they just make sets with thousands of parts to build it as real as possible? Where is the line from which "real" doesn't matter? Maybe it's fine that it looks like the engine is working, that LAs look like hydraulic cylinders and that the engine looks like it is a W16... Maybe in some sub-sub-sub-[...]-themes it's dangerous to overthink the situation and it's more useful to appreciate the fact, that it is possible to build a car with Lego-Technic parts that actually looks like a Chiron and omg it even works - that is not a bad thing in general ;)- 54 replies

Evolution or involution?
Gimmick replied to astral brick's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I think there is basically no evolution in general at all. Studless system changed a lot of things of course, but besides that... LAs as an evolution of pneumatics maybe, PF/PU hmm that's it? @your comparision The intention behind the models is completely different. If you critisize things like "no 4 wheel steering", isn't the real point of criticism that Lego no longer produces super cars without a license?- 54 replies

As said earlier: I think they fitted the cabin height to the dump bed. Sticker problem -> panel solution -> fit cabin to keep relative proportions. Sound like an easy to fix thing for me. Tbh I don't care about the "handrails" and for me wrong colored rims and one or two studs in height are no reason to tear the model to pieces... maybe it's nicely build on the technical side (and maybe it's a 42070 in yellow :X)

Evolution or involution?
Gimmick replied to astral brick's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Basically I agree with this thread. But I would exclude the "super cars" from the discussion. They were added as an addition to the Technic-line with the purpose to look good. They have their own sub-theme in Technic. I think models like 42024 or 42025 had the perfect mix of visible technic and smooth design, 42052 is already too "streamlined".- 54 replies

So you would move Creator Expert sets like the Fiat 500 and Technic sets like the Bugatti in this new category?- 54 replies

Thank you. If you change the cabin and dump bed by one or two studs in an image editing software it looks better (I have no image editing skills and will not show my horrible result). But at least it seems to be made of pure technic parts. Not perfect for design, but I like and appreciate that.

Maybe the trough(? "Mulde" in German) and the cabin are just 3 studs too high. And maybe the thought process was: If we use large LAs, we have to connect them that way -> and we do not want stickers over multiple parts -> we need panels on top -> cabin is now too small -> increase cabin height :D

MK is smart enough and always changes just enough not to be sued for design copies. It's like adding an extra line to a Picasso and saying "look what a great painting I created" :D I am curious how great the similarity will be in the end. If it's an obvious copy, I just buy the original as a symbolic middle finger. (maybe) =X
