Nope. The "DFG-VK" has also sent letters to youtube-streamers and asked them/encouraged them to paticipate in a "small campaign" in the Lego-Store in Berlin where they want to build a peace-symbol with Lego-parts. They even made an exclusive website about the set... The problem is now: How to get out of this bullsh.. without hurting your own reputation and wallet too much. The set has already been delivered to the stores... :D Maybe they change it and every set that already exists will be incredible valuable in the future.. ;D

The idea is simply that you can switch from parking to first gear without first having to mechanically select the third and second gear ;) P -> 1st instead of P -> 3rd -> 2nd ->1st. I know it would only be one button press in both cases, but it would save 180° of rotation and it .. eehmmm.. would be "optimized" and "hill start" and things... you know? :D

Yes, I remembered the position of the blocking lift arm wrong ^^ What I meant is: 1. Remove the cable clip / move the lift arm one stud back 2. Connect the L motor to the PU App -> Set position to absolute 0° 3. Built it with a clearly selected gear and remember what it was :D -> ignore the c+ profile and use your own PU-Profile, that reads and sets the absolute position -> you can move from anywhere in any direction. And you always know which angle selects which gear. And if you want to use the c+ profile again, maybe (?) an axle or pin is good enough for calibration. I think they only used the block+calibration method, because you cannot tell in which position the L-motor is without using a second app.

@kbalage You said in your review that 1st drive gear and tipping are on the "opposite" position in the gearbox: 0° 1st gear and 270° tipping, and the change from 270° to 360° with an addition of 90° is blocked for calibration, So if I set the L-Motor in PU to absolut 0° before I install it and leave out the cable holder, there should no reason why the "use shortest rotational direction" function would not always work and directly switch from tipping to first gear, right?

Well, theoretically you can always test for start and end position, so no matter the gearing -> half the way is half the way. But since the C+ profiles are always preconfigured for one model it would not make that much sense in this case and some things just have no limit. You can calculate (more or less) the real speed of a car, but if you change the wheels... Steering is actually the easiest thing and with PU you can gear the steering up or down in whatever way you like and build a realy slow offroad steering which need xy rotations of the motor for full direction switch etc.

To keep it in the "technic" theme: All technic motors have build in position sensors, that return the position in the range of +/- 180° (with a precision of 1° i think, not sure). The hub does add up the angle internally to an angle above or below +/-180°. The most simple way to calibrate is: read current angle, set some speed, measure real speed, count angle. if real speed is 0 -> you hit something -> remember angle (sum of angles). change direction, do the same again. now you have the range of free movement. If you rotate the motor while the hub is turned of (if you only turn it by a small amount and you use the absolut position it schould be fine), the gears slip, the clutch gear turns,.... the calibration is basically ruined. Calibrating actuators can be more complex, it depends on how easy the internal clutch limit is reached. You can use the PU app to toy around and display the angle. If you want to know the exact position of a mechanical element, you have to add a factor for the transmission an/or linear movement per motor rotation.

No, the gearbox switches between 3 drive gears and tipper - just watch the reviews.

The clutch is not connected to the gear switch axle. Take a look at @kbalage 's review video. @Magical Duck The clutch is only there to protect the gears/axles.

Henry and technic-reviews... I like him as a person, but some things are just strange and/or wrong. Set seems to be nice =) the linear-clutch to dead-end is a break I think? ... *ploing* now watching @kbalage 's video.. :D Edit: the calibration... xD I think it's not that easy to be sure that everything is correct if you only measure rotation speed and current. Nice review and PU test :) Speed looks fine for me, I think it will be very heavy if loaded. But loading that thing seems to be something, that you've actually forgotten ;)

So, that's your balcony? :D -
Sorry, I shortened it a bit too much. Thx @anyUser You can also see in the first Video, that one rotor-block rotates when he activates the propellers. The friction is not balanced - but that can be be a building error, too.... sometimes you have to realy build carefully in complex models. But nevertheless: We will see, I think I will buy it anyway. :<
-
10:20 Turning the rotors does not work, friction is not high enough, on both sides. It did work until the rotors got heavier. But he also sais: "It is not a building-error, but I definitely made a mistake in the gearbox, which is why I cannot show everything here now." Can someone with "Technic" knowledge please make a review? :D We have enough "I did something wrong, I don't know what I'm doing, it doesn't work, I release the video anyway"-videos now.

One problem that would be solved is the different behavior of the "city hub" with different motors and the remote control. Latest example: Crocodile train. The behavior with a non "simple motor" is different (not +/- 10% speed on each button press but -100%/0/100% speed while button is pressed), a customizable behavior that fits the needs and that does not depend on the used components would be nice. Support of other gamepads would be even better :D

[APP] BrickController2
Gimmick replied to imurvai's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
If you want an app like buwizz/sbrick, take a look at Controlz. https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/173892-controlz-custom-control-app-current-v1452/&tab=comments#comment-3159826- 1,316 replies

Thx, the Dev Tab was new tor me =) So multiple guys all around the world thought the same thing.. xD You can easily add all available widgets to the GUI and use it. There are also code blocks for absolute positioning for the technic motors, "port scanning" etc... One thing that I was unable to get up and running: same widget several times with different channels. That would solve a lot of problems.

I've seen some videos with this problem. And I agree with you. But i'm sure it depends on the speed. So, use the brake before difficult sections of the track. My old H0 E44 tips over on high speed and tight curves.... :D

Technic 2020 Set Discussion
Gimmick replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
:D <3 Maybe it has become a time problem? Models have become more complex, they take more time to design, so there is less time for a B-Model... And B-Models like from the 42054 or 42082 are not that great. -
Technic 2020 Set Discussion
Gimmick replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Ok, so for you a lego model with no official B-model is just a worse "real" model. Don't get me wrong, for me the whole "Lego as decoration"-concept is basically the cause of a lot of problems and I do not like it, but I cannot follow you here. I agree it's a loss in value. -
Technic 2020 Set Discussion
Gimmick replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Or get a police station from [xy], or the underwater whatever from [yz], the Crocodile from Merklin ..... Yes, B-models are a great addition, but the absence of B-models does not ruin the whole concept. -
Absolutely! Those nice little details add a lot..
