  1. That's okay, I was just using you as an excuse to post those pics. I remember looking at those pics as a kid and being amazed at all the rules that were broken! Technic bricks as robot heads on Black Falcon figures, horses with retro rockets! What I like about them is that they show pure imagination and whimsy without caring too much about looking realistic. Also if we're talking about a Space-Castle theme, I figured I'd post the original official Lego pictures of a Space-Castle crossover. :) Also, this is the most Space-Castle-y piece of all time:
  2. Great stuff bublible! Here's some Space Castle stuff from the old Lego Idea books for more inspiration!
  3. WHAA!? Cool! Where's the info?
  4. This thread is great. Those Tente sets just fill me with wonder. Like what would Lego Space have looked like in another universe? Well, now we know. After this thread I went looking for old Space sets in other brands like Tyco Super Blocks. There was some nice non-Lego stuff out there. Also, Kritch, I love all of your reinterpretations, but that last one is just incredible. The trans-red tips on the grapple arm -- perfection!
  5. Holy crap, this sounds interesting. EDIT: It would be funny if it were true. I always assumed Lego didn't want to do Space lines anymore because it would cannibalize Star Wars sales. But Space Knights, huh. That sounds even closer to Star Wars.
  6. This is ridiculously awesome.
  7. Holy crap. I love both of them! Great work!
  8. Yep, must buy. Also this. Another new DK book with Neo Classic Space on the cover.
  9. This is awesome!
  10. Weird! I did NOT know they used minifigs as children with those giant figs. That looks crazy! Still, the modern minifigs came out in '78, a year before those Homemaker sets.
  11. For me Neo-Classic Space would be the best possible new theme.
  12. Niiiice!
  13. It's a pointless update. Belt loops? Really? Why? And why the lines down the white part of his torso? It's just weird.
  14. I don't think this is true. The first minifigs came out at the same time as the first Town, Space, and Castle sets. Unless you count the earlier pre-minifig people with no arms and single-piece legs, but I don't know that they were intended to represent children.
  15. Please do! I would love to see them.
  16. Luckily the faces are only printed on. I imagine the head sculpts themselves would work fine.
  17. Ah, I knew this thing had to split apart! Much much cooler now that I can see exactly how. Totally awesome! I love the two ground units. The main ground vehicle looks great and the rear ground unit captures the feel of a mobile outpost.
  18. Thanks! I was actually trying to make it look like an actual set Lego might make nowadays, if they redid M:Tron. Thanks friend! I was actually trying to do a sort of "Neo-M:Tron." Basically I started with the bubble canopy and built the ship around it, trying to make a modern-looking set in the M:Tron colors. You're right though, this isn't classic style M:Tron; I shoulda put "Neo" in the title. :)
  19. Here's a little M:Tron MOC I made. Sorry for the crappy pics. http://imgur.com/a/az8Hg
  20. This reminds me, I need to pick up some Turbo Milk for that extra boost in my morning cereal. :D
  21. You know, what really bothers me is just how amazing new Space sets could be with all the new pieces. I picked up some Star Wars Microfighters, and they have like 100 pieces for $10 and are very well designed. I would kill for a $10 Classic Space set with 100 pieces that was as well designed.
  22. It's a good logo, but I think when you used the classic space logo, it made it look more like these were actual sets that could have existed, or actual prototype sets that were never made. So if you're going for nostalgia, I like the classic space logo, but if you want something different and distinctive, this logo is very nice.
  23. Cool! I didn't realize how neat this was until the last picture with the drone released. Also I like how the walkie-talkie piece is now something totally different: a radio control! Really cool man!
