  1. I seem to remember the normal ones having that same issue, but the one in the dark brown suit has a serious tan, where the skin print better matches the skin tone of kanan It's not like the budget is exclusively for figure parts. Maybe the reason the budget seems a bit less this year is because of stuff like this. After all, some theme has to use part of their budget for a new mold, and given that they've only shown up in the x-wing so far, it's somewhat likely that it'll only be in this set/star wars sets in 1HY, therefore being a new mold for the star wars theme and taking part of the budget. Besides, what possible new molds do the figures this wave need? (or any figures that would likely show up in these sets, for that matter). IMO these new parts are much more important to the theme than, say, a new mold for dodanna's hair. I think for the 2019 overwatch set the budget was still taken out of star wars as it was created for that set.
  2. Shhhh.... don't tell anyone, the bricklink prices on that part/figure will go up! Good catch, I actually don't mind paying a few bucks for that figure/hairpiece as Cara Dune is one of my favorite characters and that hair really does work perfectly for her.
  3. I went back and figured out the exact numbers a few days ago, the conclusion I came to was if you exclude the battle packs the amount of new prints/molds/etc in 1hy 2020 is only slightly more than 1hy 2021. So aside from the case of the missing battle packs, it's not a huge example of a decline in quality. (remember, the x-wing itself has multiple new molds) I've never played overwatch but I'm going to take from this that she isn't an alien with chalk-white skin? Regarding the set reveals: The juniors x-wing is pretty nice for a juniors set, it could really use a new cockpit mold but other than that I could see the average 4-7 year old buying it. It's also good that it comes with poe (is that a new print for the helmet or same as 2016) and every kid's favorite merchandisable character, BB-8. The shuttle itself looks to be a slight improvement over the 2015 set, and while the PPP isn't great, look at the number of large parts, people! It's certainly got much better value than grievous's starfighter as some are comparing it too. The figure selection isn't great, I think a single officer (jerjerrod) or extra pilot could have made this a really solid set, but as is it's not bad at all. I have no doubt that luke's lightsaber will be the correct color in the actual set, and I'm 50/50 on whether or not vader keeps arm printing.
  4. Yeah. It's going from "what does the lego community want" to "what is mandrproductions going to tell his fans he wants". This is a problem with any poll in which there are prominent members of the community (the minecraft poll being a good example), but in the lego community MandR is the only one that pressures his fans to vote a certain way.
  5. pre-beskar, you say? Aside from the cyborg arms (good suggestion, I hadn't thought of that), I haven't found anything. That's the only one with a good brown/silver mix. maybe wookie warrior arms to get a bit of detail, or just go plain brown arms?
  6. Apparently MandR has mobilized his fans in support of that (I'm surprised he's not making them do a 501st trooper) so there's a good chance. Honestly @PreVizsla's, well, pre vizsla suggestion is pretty good. If I had to choose I'd say Wedge Antilles but there's no way that'd win. I've always wanted to take part in one of these. Actually, maybe. Either we'll start to get many more sets for the first 6 films when we'd normally be getting the wave for the new film, or we'll get waves for mando/bad batch/kenobi/andor/ when they come out. I'd say it's 50/50.
  7. Looks good! You got the proportions spot on and at the right scale, too!
  8. Others have mentioned the officers and Hobbie, so I'll just say: How dare you call Wilrow Hood "ice cream guy" ! As much as I'd love to get him in minifigure form, unfortunately due to his obscurity and how he's really only known as a meme (I mean really, everyone is evacuating and he rushes past lando with an ice cream machine), his only opportunity was betrayal at cloud city, so I think he might not get a figure for a long time. You see, this is what people thought about the prequels when those came out. We'll have a lull for a few years and it'll get to the same amount of sets as prequels by 2022-2023. Rogue one is getting the "cassian" series so we'll probably get more figures there. Solo's been swirling with rumors (most underrated film in the franchise by the way), if I'm not mistaken one of the writers tweeted something suspicious on the anniversary of solo's release this year, but nothing concrete yet. Yeah, at this point it's almost like there isn't a mon mothma, kinda like with Zam where it's almost better to use other parts if you were trying to make an accurate figure of the character. Her figure doesn't have pupils, for crying out loud! Maybe she'll get a figure for the Andor show, I'm sure she'll be in that.
  9. I'm sure we'll get an ITT and arquitens eventually. I'm not so sure about the gozanti, though, seeing how the last one (ironically also containing a mandalorian) sold, and I fear the client may end up forgotten like saw gerrera or dryden vos. Speaking of dryden, solo wave! Microfighters: TIE brute ($9.99): Imperial TIE pilot Lando's Millenium falcon ($9.99): Lando (young) AT-hauler vs conveyex ($19.99): Conveyex engine and train car, AT-hauler with Rio Durant and an imperial gunner (fur bits like in the 2018 set) Battle packs: Vandor Troopers ($14.99): 2x range trooper, imperial gunner (snow), snowtrooper?. Build is a small turret like on the conveyex. Kessel guards ($14.99): two kessel guards (yellow suits with white helmets), Pyke, kessel guard (design with the checkerboard kilt). Build is an E-web and some terrain. Duel: Duel on the first light ($24.99, bit bigger than normal): Dryden's museum room with some stands for artifacts like crystals and the ancient mando armor, comes with dryden, qi'ra, and han. Other sets: Mimban troopers ($29.99, 501st style): AT-DT and small bit of trench with 2x mimban stormtrooper, 2x mudtrooper, 1x mimbanese fighter. Speeder chase ($39.99): Han's stolen speeder and an imperial patrol speeder, along with a small build for the checkpoint/tollway they drive through. Figures are Han, Qi'ra, an imperial patrol trooper, and the protocal droid that gets run over. TIE brute ($69.99): TIE brute with TIE pilot, imperial officer, stormtrooper, Beckett, and chewbacca. Star Destroyer ($129.99): Imperial star destroyer with 2x imperial officer, 2x imperial crew, 2x stormtrooper, han (imperial), val (imperial disguise), and rio (imperial disguise). Millenium falcon ($149.99): same color scheme+escape pod as the 2018 falcon, but with the 2019 design that closes the gaps so it doesn't look like it's full of holes. Figures are Han, Chewbacca, Qi'ra, beckett, Lando, L3-37, dryden vos, and 2 enforcers. UCS: nothing this film designed is iconic for a ucs, but I guess: AT-Hauler ($199.99): Large AT-hauler design, big enough to actually haul AT-walkers. Figures are an imperial pilot (arm printing) and stormtrooper (arm printing)
  10. They weren't about the mandalorian or really spoilery at all but you should be fine. I agree about the people not putting spoiler tags on spoilers being bad, but I see no harm in putting spoiler tags for leaks. I think the conclusion you drew about what the "spoiler" was is evidence in itself that they aren't giving too much away if they're in spoiler tags. We'll get sets for it, I'm sure. Premiers in spring/summer 2021 supposedly, so it makes sense for any sets for it to be in the 2hy wave for lego star wars. As for the sets themselves: Cool armored troopers? Check. Taking place during the rise of the empire and therefore being able to connect to the better-selling OT sets? Check. Possibility for GNK droids? Check. (ok the last one is a joke of course, but we have gotten a fair amount of Gonks recently and seeing as Wrecker bench-presses one in clone wars, you never know ) ^I'm not putting this in a spoiler tag. The fact that a character (not one I've mentioned, the spoiler wasn't that a gonk might show up) could be in the bad batch show is not a spoiler. That's like saying "there's an action scene in the mandalorian" or something.
  11. It's also a 4x4, slightly shallower, and has normal studs, where the one on the x-wing is 3x3, slightly longer, and has hollow studs. To me the part on the x-wing looks kinda like that old engine part they used, the 3x3x6 or something. I'm considering getting two of this set at this point, the figure is incredible. This style begs for an ARC-70 to be made at $60-70 and for a vulture droid at like $15. Same here. (though the interceptor and bomber would top my list, even though I just bought parts for my interceptor moc so it's not of personal value it's one of the most well-known TIEs and it's insane the last one of them was so long ago they still used blue as the main accent color) Actually nevermind, mining guild TIE with new prints for sabine's work on kanan and ezra's helmets, plus a buildable space whale of course . Thrawn's only weakness.
  12. I'll agree with you on the missing BPs but other than that, this wave compared to 2020: 2020 (battlepacks excluded): 4 new molds, 3 new figures, 4 updated figures. 2021: 1 new mold (I'm pretty sure it is a new mold, the goggles on the minion are 4x4 and it's 3x3 on the x-wing), 2 new figures, 3 updated figures, without seeing the shuttle. So it will probably be less, unless there's a set the leakers don't know about or the shuttle has a few new molds and like, jerjerrod and a new ewok or something, but it's not exactly egregious. Yup. The most prequel heavy year, 2014, was long enough after the disney purchase that if they were ordering lego around (which they aren't/weren't) it would have been to create the sets that these people liked the best . And yeah, episodes 2 and three are mainly red/gray vs dark blue/gray. Not too different from mainly red/white vs grey/black of the OT, or blue/gray vs red/black of the sequels. 1. Because that's how it is in ANH, and he gets shot as a result. 2. If there's a 2x6 than yeah I think, though I thought it about the grey engine fronts as well. 3. looks like technic center-pivot with no rubber bands..in other words, very good. 4. I agree here. This was a calculated choice to make it the X-wing and TIE first, and then the shuttle was just due for a remake. I also agree that most of these ships just can't be made smaller, like the snowspeeder.
  13. Good breakdown. I agree with your assessment, it's an improvement even without taking the fact that it's half the price into account. I'm also going to have to summon a lot of willpower to not get this one. It looks so good and has great figures, but I have the 1999 and 2018 x-wings. What set are they in? I looked up the theme and I don't see the part in either set. I explained this about a half hour ago, but the reason these new sets are OT is because OT sells the best and is the most iconic, so to test the waters without risking complete failure of a set they're putting out the most iconic vehicles they have. I gurentee that the next system wave will have some prequel and sequel era sets, and if these sell well we'll start seeing arc-170s, vulture droids, and tri-fighters in this style. This is also literally just 4 sets, 5 if you count the mandalorian, which is definately new material, so it's not like the summer wave that was something like 2-3 times as many sets. As for your first part, completely agree. The whole idea that this wave is evidence of the "LeGo HatEs ThE pReQuElS" conspiracy is laughable, there are clear reasons that these sets were chosen, and it's not some sort of weird anti-clone wars prejudice, it's because they know these sets will sell. As for the second part, I also agree. I do think the X-wing does a better job of this style than the TIE, but the TIE is still a good set. All it needed was a boarding ladder and/or a new, desirable figure to take it to the level of the x-wing. According to wookiepedia, this is some hunting droid from an old comic, but...the droid in the TIE is clearly the RA-7 "death star droid". Not sure why it's called an NI-L8.
  14. @macaron35 it's bricks stacked up and then flipped on their side, the hoth and endor promos are more good examples. I'm sure it'd be strong enough, how expensive it is depends on what bricks you use but it's probably more expensive than stocking up on 32x32 baseplates. It'll look much better than just baseplates though. If you're planning on making a large moc I'd use baseplates and build up terrain onto it with bricks to stop it from being too flat.
  15. Well I mean half isn't correct, it'd either be a third (going by trilogy) or a very small percentage since most people don't exclusively buy sets from one trilogy. There are 3 of this new type of set so far, and to try it out they chose the two objectively most iconic starfighters and another iconic ship that was due for a remake. OT sets must sell the best based on how many they make, so that's another reason they made the first 3 OT. so if you want to see prequel sets in this style, you better hope these sell well. Also, what's your logic for people only coming back to lego because clone wars ended or mandalorian came out? I haven't seen any evidence on that. Tons of new prints at least, and I can't tell if those are new molds for the gray on the x-wing engines? haven't seen those before. Anyway, what other new molds would we need for this? Canopies are pretty accurate already for the x-wing and TIE, and none of the other figures need them. Maybe a new hood for leia, but that's not something she wears in that scene anyway. it's for the lack of stud shooters on the microfighters themselves. Honestly, I'll take it. Makes the micros look a bit better, and luke still has his lightsaber so it's only replacing the pistol for the AT-AT pilot, a character that doesn't see combat in the films (and doesn't have time to get to his blaster before be knocked out in rebels and fallen order). Overall thoughts on the new sets: X-wing is amazing. Super detailed for it's size, it looks good enough that I'm considering getting this even though I already have the 2018 x-wing. Figures are great too. 4 in a $50 set isn't bad at all, especially since it includes a new character, new prints for luke (We can now definitely say without a shadow of a doubt that the "new" helmet design is dead!), a rare leia variant, and...I guess R2 is necessary for the set. TIE fighter is great too, I have a minor gripe with them refusing to recolor that ball joint as it does impact how it looks, but it's still a great set. Figures are good, the TIE and stormtrooper are fine and the updated protocol droid (in a set $460 cheaper than before) is good too. The ball joint is what does it for me, as minor as it is, I'll stick with the 2018 variant, but if I didn't already have it, I'd take the $40 TIE with a minor color issue over the one that's $30 more. Falcon Microfighter is a microfighter, somewhat disappointed it's the same old han but meh. Wonder what the cancelled one was. Tauntaun VS AT-AT is good, a good way to get hoth luke cheap. I'm loving this new affordable scale, they've shown they can definitely make good, detailed sets at a good size for almost half the price.
  16. Duly noted, thanks! I'm glad they are red, makes them fit better with the sith star destroyers. Honestly, aside from the second one, i think these could all easily be sets. (I'm also working on a few of these for a mando wave I'm doing, so far I've only got a tatooine set done and am partially working on an armorer's forge, but we'll see.) Alright, I finished the saga films, so rogue one time: Microfighters: Imperial assault tank ($9.99): Tank driver trooper Imperial cargo shuttle ($9.99): Bodhi Rook. Blue Squadron X-wing vs AT-ACT ($19.99): Antoc Merric and AT-ACT driver (love this trooper design btw) Battle packs: Scarif Imperials battle pack ($14.99): 2x shoretrooper, death trooper, stormtrooper. Build is a small bit of terrain with a tree and master switch. Scarif rebels battle pack ($14.99): 2x rebel trooper (endor helmet mold), 1x rebel trooper (hoth helmet), 1x rebel trooper (lieutenant selfa helmet) Duel: Citadel confrontation ($19.99): Jyn Erso and Director krennic. Build is the top of the tower with that satellite and walkway. Other sets: Scarif ambust ($29.99): scarif area with palm trees, build with switch and a crate, and area for rebels to pop out of. Figures are Chirrut, colonel Tonc, and a stormtrooper. Jedha Attack ($49.99): Tx-225 tank and a multi-story building with explode feature on a wall. Comes with Jyn, a jedha backpack stormtrooper, 2x tank driver, and a partisan. TIE reaper ($79.99): TIE reaper with cockpit and ramp with room for 4 troops on the inside. Comes with a TIE pilot, Director krennic, and 4 death troopers. U-wing ($89.99): Slightly larger U-wing with more accurate cockpit setup that fits two people side by side. Comes with Jyn, Cassian, K-2SO, Chirrut, Baze, and Bohdi. AT-ACT ($129.99): similar build to the new AT-AT but with a slightly different head, and completely removable large crate in the main body segment. Figures are 2x AT-ACT pilot, a shoretrooper captain, imperial officer, shoretrooper squad leader, Baze Malbus, and 2x scarif rebel trooper. UCS: UCS U-wing ($399.99): Huge U-wing starfighter with complete cockpit, 2x U-wing pilot (arm printing), and Bistan.
  17. I second this, you could totally sell the instructions. I love the physical build, of course the structural mods and new weapons are amazing, but what really makes this moc is all the minor details you've thrown in. I love the little missile rack and that mailbox piece the guy is putting a datatape into being used on the u-wing. The figures themselves are great too, and I've already thrown that nano missile pod design onto one of my bounty hunter ships. This almost gives off a star wars rebels or bad batch vibe, sort of a heavily modified ship for an elite but not super official group that works almost as a family.
  18. I have mando, a boba, a sabine, and plenty of mauldalorians and loyalists. They're printed. That beskar mando arm printing isn't the "good stuff"?
  19. Yes, it'll be great to see them in images that are actually high quality and have confirmation of the figures and any side builds.
  20. This was legitimately what I thought the set would be. Suffice it to say I am happy we got beskar mando, though I hope we get that set soon too. As for the bits on the episode itself: as for possible sets: Spoiler free version: There are a good amount of mando sets that could be made for this episode alone.
  21. Alright, moving on to TROS, this'll be a tougher one. Microfighters: TIE whisper ($9.99): kylo ren. Poe's X-wing ($9.99): Poe (pilot), R2-D2 head. Resistance B-wing versus TIE dagger ($19.99): Aftab Ackbar and a first order TIE pilot. battle packs: Resistance troopers ($14.99): 2x helmeted troopers, Byrco Hansid, Caphex spy. Build is a bit of ajin kloss terrain with a computer console uplink. Final Order troops ($14.99): 2x sith trooper, first order treadspeeder driver, first order jet trooper. Build is a first order treadspeeder. Duel: duel on kjimi ($19.99): kylo ren and rey with half the build being a bit of kylo's room on the star destroyer and the other half being a bit of the kjimi area. Other sets: Star Destroyer attack ($29.99): Star destroyer turret build with some ground and two small buildiable orbacks. Comes with Jannah, Finn, BB-8 and a sith jet trooper. TIE whisper ($49.99): TIE whisper with wayfinder part. Comes with Rey (hooded), Kylo ren, Poe (pasaana), and Ap'leck. Exogol ($69.99): Sith throne, omnic harness, jar of snokes, and area where kylo fights the knights with Rey, Ben, Palpatine (omnic harness), palpatine (eternal), Vicrul, and Cardo. Resistance B-wing ($89.99): Resistance B-wing starfighter with Aftab Ackbar, General Leia, Snap wexley, Beamont Kin, Kuruk, and Ushar. Sith Star Destroyer ($139.99): Sith star destroyer with interior bridge, conference room, and miniscale hanger. Figures are General Pryde, 2x final order officer, 2x final order technician, 2x first order stormtrooper, Chewbacca, Trudgen, and general hux. UCS: UCS TIE dagger ($199.99): large TIE dagger (no red on the wings since they don't have that in the film, it's grey like a normal tie). Figures are a first order TIE pilot (arm printing), and a first order sith trooper (arm printing, dual-molded gun)
  22. If/when we get a wave with actual numbers of mando sets, he's got to show up. Yeah, I've been rewatching rebels and while I always liked the show, I never realized how much stuff they set up for later episodes and how much continuity there is. I agree it would be an amazing set. Alright you've beaten me there, I'm not going to bother counting all the complanings . I think you're right, which means there probably aren't surprise mando sets coming as leakers haven't said any other sets at all are coming. usually when something leaks like that we at least know that there is another set coming at that time. Maybe the sandspeeder or kylo and sith trooper brickheadz?
  23. Yes! Another running joke needs to be that he keeps running into Filoni's x-wing pilot every season, to increase our chances of getting a Dave Filoni figure.
  24. Yeah, the scrap armor mando could go for more eventually, but I think mainly because beskar mando could become pretty common. Same with the child, if lego makes a lot of mando sets they'll be in a fair few of them, and lego'd have to be stupid to not realize how much money they'll make from more mando sets. Not that I mind, amassing mandos with that sweet, sweet arm printing will be great, and I've got plenty of young relatives to give baby yodas to. I had to google whether or not the destiny's bounty still existed, I had one back when I was younger and I'm surprised they've kept the same ship around for so long. But yeah they're really beating up the razor crest this season, it's been wrecked three times in as many episodes (crash landing on snow planet, big spider boi attack, crash landing on ocean planet). I'd bet on him crashing above navarro in tonight's episode. I don't think we will. At this point I don't think anyone can think of a name that would fit for him, and everyone calls him "baby yoda" anyway. But about the set thing. I'm very much trying not to get my hopes up as it could be nothing, but the star wars show, after revealing it, said more was coming monday. They could just be referring to the rest of the sets we know about, of course...but...everything revealed for mando mondays so far has been mandalorian related. Like I said, trying not to get hopes up, it's unlikely star wars sets could make it to an official reveal before leakers even knew a set existed, but.... Can I complain about you complaining about complaining about complaining about complaining about complaining, or is that too far? This does look like a perfect set for lego fans who don't have the other sets (or even casual mandalorian fans who don't normally buy lego) to get the two main characters for cheap. I feel like this could sell pretty fast, maybe not 501st battle pack level (although I feel like that was more so a few people buying absolutely nutty amounts than a ton of different people each buying a few), but still selling out pretty fast. I might get a second copy anyway, to try to make a full tent, fill out the tusken ranks, and of course get another copy of the mandalorian to part out for other mandos.
