[MOC] Tri-Wing S-91x Pegasus Starfighter
Mandalorianknight replied to TeddytheSpoon's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I've seen that video! I agree his feels a bit off, too, he mentions that he tried to make it feel like star wars since the original model doesn't seem lived-in, but I don't think he fully manages to "fix" it, if it indeed can be fixed. It's definitely an interesting and complex design though, and you capture the details well in the model. Knew it was the mugards, and I've just now realized..hero factory armor plates?!? GENIUS! -
I like this idea, especially as smaller sets like impulse buys. They have most of the major figures for kids and they're a nice diorama for adults. To do my own spin, a set for the climax of each film: Duel of the fates ($69.99): Catwalks, reactor, shield area, and some of the naboo palace interior. Comes with Maul, Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, two battle droids, Panaka, and Battle Dress Padme. Battle of geonosis ($149.99): AT-TE, hailfire droid, and a bit of terrain. Comes with Yoda, 1x clone captain, 4x clone trooper, 3x geonosian, 2x geonosis b1, 2x b2 battle droid. Duel on mustafar ($49.99): A bit of the separatist base with collapsing features, the droid and platform that they fight on, a bit of a landing platform, and of course the high ground. Comes with Padme (mustafar), Wat Tambor, R2-D2, Obi-wan, and Anakin. Trench Run ($109.99): Red Five's X-wing and Vader's TIE advanced (in the smaller 2021 style) with a small turbolaser turret and exhaust port. Comes with Luke Skywalker (pilot), Darth Vader, R2-D2, an Imperial Gunner, Red Leader, and a TIE pilot. Duel over Bespin ($59.99, kind of similar to the 2020 exclusive but hey, it'd be available all over the world.): Carbon Freezing chamber with a catwalk out to the final "No, I am your father" scene. Comes with Luke and Vader. Final Duel ($49.99): The emperor's throne room with the throne, balcony, stairways, and reactor shaft. Figures are Luke, Palpatine, Vader, and 2 royal guards. Duel on starkiller base ($29.99): Snowy area with some trees and a play feature to launch the lightsaber towards Rey. Comes with Kylo, Rey, and Finn. Battle of Crait ($69.99): First Order AT-ST, smaller Ski Speeder, and some grounded terrain. Comes with AT-ST pilot, Poe Dameron, Luke Skywalker, a first order stormtrooper, and Kylo Ren. Duel over Exogol ($79.99): Large sith throne, omnic harness, jar of snokes and some more tech, as well as an area of the statues/chains?floating platform thing where kylo fights the knights. Comes with Rey, Palpatine (omnic harness), palpatine (reborn), Kylo, 2 preatorian guards, Vicrul, and Trudgen. The problem is eventually there's going to be a LOT of concurrent shows. I think there's going to be 4 live action shows in december 2021 alone, and there's a problem with having 20 sets on shelves for a single wave, assuming they don't make a single set that wave for the skywalker saga films, rogue one, solo, or the animated shows. Once you have a certain number of sets on shelves, the individual sets going to sell as well because, well, people don't have infinite money and most collectors probably won't be able to buy 20 sets from a single wave, much less children. And at that point, you're sinking money into production without gaining money from more sales.

I'm not a big fan of the in-universe design, but this model almost redeems it. You use some very creative techniques in the fuselage and especially the engines (are those car mudguard pieces turned vertical at the end of the engines? Genius!) The shape of the model is well-captured here, and the cockpit detailing is well above that of most mocs. -

[MOC] [INSTRUCTIONS] Imperial TIE Fighter
Mandalorianknight replied to DarthMario's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I feel like I have to agree here. It's not illegal or anything (well, technically selling instructions on any star wars IP could get you sued by lucasfilm), but it is kind of a scummy thing to sell instructions that are basically just a mod of another build. I also find it interesting that the prior guy to do this deleted a ton of his posts an hour ago after commenting here, as well as his x-wing and TIE fighter moc topics. If he really feels that he's right, why hide the evidence?- 25 replies

If you're going for his TFA appearance. In the final scene of TFA, as well as the entirety of TLJ and TROS, he has his other gold arm back, not a red arm.

That's a good point, but like you said it was a gradual shift that took place over a few years and not a single wave. So while this isn't the first time star wars has undergone a major stylistic shift, it's the first time for such a thing to happen with a single wave instead of gradual changes from 2006-2008. -

I'd forgotten about those, although in addition to not being imperial they're A: droid transports, not volatile cargo transports, and B: just really shouldn't be repulsorlifts, maybe the fact that only droids are inside them means that it has some wacky radiation stuff going on. It depends on a few factors for me at least: Difference in-universe: If the set is, say, an rz-2 a-wing instead of an rz-1, or a vanguard squadron x-wing instead of a blue squadron one, I'll be more likely to buy it if I already had the previous, slightly different model. Updates to model: This is the main factor, if there are major updates to the design, such as the 2018 x-wing versus the 2012 x-wing, or if it's a different style of build 2021 x-wing versus the 2018 x-wing, than again it's something I'd be more likely to get. Figures: This is one lego definitely uses to draw people in, if a remake has new or interesting figures it'll be more likely to sell to people who have the previous model. While with larger sets many people are better off using bricklink, with smaller sets I'll pick one up for the figures even if I already have the build (and then scrap or sell the build) Resale value of the original: This one isn't applicable to many people, but if the set being remade has a resale value close too or even more than the retail cost of the remake, it's not a bad idea to sell the original and pick up the new one. -

We have a rumors thread? Jar Jar if they go by votes, anyone else if they go by what'll actually sell. Like the gunship, MandR's fanatics voted in droves despite many probably not planning on getting the set, but the gunship also received wide support from fans in general and is a set that will probably sell well anyway. A Jar Jar brickhead won't sell well at all. It could be a wave that doesn't have beskar mando, or more importantly, one that doesn't create a new style for system sets, which haven't seen a shift of this type since the beginning of the theme. -

It's based on a clone wars vehicle, also called the juggernaut. While all @TeddytheSpoon's reasons are logical, I'd like to add a few more. -It's a secret base, so routine flights of cargo ships a short distance across the planet would pick up some attention. In terms of ground vehicles, there's a definite upper size limit to repulsorlift vehicles in canon, I don't think we've seen anything larger or heavier than a landspeeder. -Rhydonium provides some complications for transport, especially when you consider the pirate attacks. Even without the threat of being attacked, getting rhydonium up into a slow-moving AT-ACT or AT-AT is probably not worth the time, effort, and potential for explosions. Hence, a wheeled vehicle that's faster, not as difficult to load, and armored against pirate attacks. (though they may want to invest in, like, a padlock if they want to stop pirate attacks, seeing as all they had to do to get to the rhydonium was flip up a panel). -

So you think it's the Mandalorian tank drivers in the ITTs, then? That's a good point. Tank trooper-style drivers man the juggernauts, AT-ACTs, and TX-225s, so mainly wheeled vehicles, whereas the majority of the walkers are driven by a variety of different designs. My takeaway here is that in a year or two we'll probably see a new trooper slightly differentiated from the tx-225 driver called the ITT driver or something, but for now I'll use tx-225 driver helmets with veers armor on my MOC. -

That might be it. Makes sense, a TIE pilot helmet isn't as desirable or iconic to the average person as a boba fett or stormtrooper helmet. Maybe that means the third helmet this year will be the same. Royal guard is definitely the most likely then, as while a cool design vader's helmet and the scout helmet are more recognizable. -

Great design, jerac! There've been a lot of razor crest mocs in the past year, but yours is definitely one of the best. RIP razor crest, forever in our hearts. "no one's ever really gone" -

That's even weirder. Wonder why this is, I can't imagine that lego is intentionally doing anything to keep the third helmet of each wave more secret. First off, I haven't read through this whole thing but whoever's being rude to this guy (or anyone), don't do that, keep it civil. I will say that I think that the set discussion thread shouldn't be more ordered than it is. There's a separate news thread, so what exactly are you mad about? I might be miscommunicating, I agree with what you're saying here! I was pointing out how all the people complaining that the thread was getting off topic and needed to be moderated were themselves making it off-topic. i share the same opinion that the whole "I don't want to scroll through comments for news" thing makes no sense when you can just look at the news thread. -

Bad batch is basically clone wars season 8, so prequel era, it's technically after revenge of the sith, but it's RIGHT after, so they're still using clone armor and vehicles. Does anyone know what armor the ITT/trexlar marauder drivers have in the mandalorian? In rebels it's the combat drivers, but they also pilot the speeder bikes instead of scout troopers. So then I was thinking it's a new design or maybe just regular stormtrooper, but they do have , so... -

And suggested we PM him them, like I did. This is the most off-topic the thread has ever been, and it's about how to get the threat on-topic! Does anyone know what the third helmet is? It seems odd that we'd know what the other two are but not the third. -
I could see this being what they'd do, though it's crazy to think of lego star wars being a new thing. It's been around my entire life. Great wave idea, I saw that show recently and thought it was a good cartoon to bridge episodes 2 and 3, though it pales in comparison to the 2008-2020 clone wars show it did have some great scenes like anakin killing ventress and grievous's episodes. Only thing I'd say is maybe just have the hypori battle figures come in the gunship. Quick update on this. I'm currently about 40% done with the wave so far, having knocked out the microfighters, battle packs, and some of the smaller sets. There are definitely some potential sets from episodes 6 and 7. I'm already replacing the TIE outlander's spot with , but I'm also thinking I should add a microfighter two-pack for I probably won't do a larger scale build of those vehicles though, seeing as we had one recently that was done well and

Well that's the difference, the Khols by me has a single small aisle for the "toy department" Yeah, and a good 90% of total stock is sold out on lego.comUS. Doesn't surprise me that anakin's fighter is doing well, it's a cheap set with the main hero of a trilogy and his ship. -
Marvel Superheroes 2020 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Going after specific designers and employees isn't going to "solve" your perceived problems, and is also kind of rude. Please do not do this. I'm super excited for armor wars too! Finally a way that lego's mech obsession will work! -
2016, no question. For some reason the government controls a shipping office here and is able to keep rates lower than competing businesses through taxes, so...yes, basically. one of the reasons that it loses money every year is it tries to make a flat rate for all states, so from my experience as a seller any small packet is $3.90-$4.05 no matter where you ship from/too in the continental US. (if you can't tell, I'm not a fan of this ) Anyone know any ways to make a custom fennec, or better hair for Cara?

Bad batch is supposedly coming as soon as spring 2021 based on what I've seen, rumors are it'll be around the same time as clone wars was last year. Maybe it'll be the same for the sets, where we get 1-2 sets with the main characters in 2hy 2021. In late 2023...so almost 3 years from now...with a new set of figures...is this perhaps a minor overreaction? Especially considering that they announced A ROGUE SQUADRON MOVIE. Depends on what you mean by "carried legos", I was at one about a year ago and they had the same stock as they did when I visited the same one about 6 months later, namely some of the smaller 2017 TLJ sets and a book with an A-wing minibuild included. -

Mandalorianknight replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
They were worried it wouldn't do well due to how the animated shows preformed. Sets take a while to make, I think that only 3 of the 6 sets were actually planned before the show (razor crest (sans BY of course), AT-ST and mando battlepack. we know for a fact that at least the baby yoda statue and brickheadz weren't.) Given how well the mandalorian did, we'll see some sets. On the other hand, there are what, 11 new shows and movies coming out in the next 3 years, not counting new seasons of mandalorian or any of the other shows? We'll get her in a slave one in 2022 or something, I'm sure. Odd no boba fett show announcement, but I still have hope. I'm so unbelievably hyped about all the new stuff! Rogue squadron is my favorite by far, but I'm super happy with all of them, especially the rangers of the new republic (Cara Dune cinematic universe?) and Acolyte. Bad batch trailer is great too, is that a clone rebellion on kamino we're seeing? And Fennec Shand!!! And while unrelated, I have to mention the other lucasfilm announcement, with Harrison Ford donning the hat one final time. -

Mandalorianknight replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Quite to the contrary, given all the new live action shows and the reception to the mandalorian I think it's more likely we'll see something like when they'd do a wave solely dedicated to a film before that film's release, except in this case either a wave for all new shows/seasons that year, or all waves in the year having a few sets for the next show to release, depending on how far apart the release of the shows are. The shuttle polybag looks really good. I might have to pick it up for some of the newer parts. -
Yeah, but if you look at it that way a $0.01 part is $4.01. As a general rule, if you're paying more in (domestic) shipping than the cost of your order, your order isn't all that expensive. Anyhow, many of the torsos already mentioned in the thread are much cheaper.

It's been speculated, and for about 5 seconds people thought it was "confirmed" based on a royal guard bust in the background of some lego promo that upon closer inspection was a) too big and b) built using basic bricks like the old maul and yoda busts. It still could be a royal guard, but I don't think it's been leaked yet.
