LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Mandalorianknight replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yeah, the scrap armor mando could go for more eventually, but I think mainly because beskar mando could become pretty common. Same with the child, if lego makes a lot of mando sets they'll be in a fair few of them, and lego'd have to be stupid to not realize how much money they'll make from more mando sets. Not that I mind, amassing mandos with that sweet, sweet arm printing will be great, and I've got plenty of young relatives to give baby yodas to. I had to google whether or not the destiny's bounty still existed, I had one back when I was younger and I'm surprised they've kept the same ship around for so long. But yeah they're really beating up the razor crest this season, it's been wrecked three times in as many episodes (crash landing on snow planet, big spider boi attack, crash landing on ocean planet). I'd bet on him crashing above navarro in tonight's episode. I don't think we will. At this point I don't think anyone can think of a name that would fit for him, and everyone calls him "baby yoda" anyway. But about the set thing. I'm very much trying not to get my hopes up as it could be nothing, but the star wars show, after revealing it, said more was coming monday. They could just be referring to the rest of the sets we know about, of course...but...everything revealed for mando mondays so far has been mandalorian related. Like I said, trying not to get hopes up, it's unlikely star wars sets could make it to an official reveal before leakers even knew a set existed, but.... Can I complain about you complaining about complaining about complaining about complaining about complaining, or is that too far? This does look like a perfect set for lego fans who don't have the other sets (or even casual mandalorian fans who don't normally buy lego) to get the two main characters for cheap. I feel like this could sell pretty fast, maybe not 501st battle pack level (although I feel like that was more so a few people buying absolutely nutty amounts than a ton of different people each buying a few), but still selling out pretty fast. I might get a second copy anyway, to try to make a full tent, fill out the tusken ranks, and of course get another copy of the mandalorian to part out for other mandos. -

here's four options: sw0188: Pros: not too expensive to mass in large amounts, helmet and torso prints are good. Cons: no leg printing. sw0585: Pros: most detailed and updated design with the old helmet mold, single troops are pretty cheap. Cons: The few sellers with large amounts aren't selling them for cheap. sw0578: Pros: pretty cheap to mass, detailed design. Cons: stylized rebels design sw0997: Pros: The most detailed and updated design using even dual-molding, cheap to mass on bricklink, currently 3 are available in a $20 set with 2 other figures as well. Cons: uses a dual-molded helmet that many find inferior to the older one. -

He's, quite literally, shining. I think he might be one of, if not the best minifigure ever made. Can I jump in by complaining about complaining about complaining about complaining? Unfortunately, much like some of us were saying about rebels earlier, despite being very popular among star wars fans, I don't think it was as popular among children. Again kinda like rebels, I could see getting a new, better version of the main ship (The U-wing), but not much else, besides battlepack-type sets with the shore and death troopers, or vehicles that were in the OT too with a rogue one figure or two thrown in. Oh my, this is an amazing set (Though Bespin Duel is still better ). The speeder bike is actually a pretty good size, and looks great. Baby yoda is adorable still and I like his little carrier. The mando figure is one of the best figures ever made, I think, and I'm so glad he's got a silver helmet. The tusken stuff is great for filling out the set to the price point, the ballista looks nice, more tusken raiders are always nice to have, and the tent is...a nice part pack? That's my only legitimate gripe about the set, it's got massive gaps on the "covered" side, and really just looks awful. But it's just a side build and will be a nice part pack. I also have a very minor nitpick: the bayonet on his rifle should be metallic or gray, not black (which is super easy to switch out and also super minor). I do find it funny that the picture they took of the build set, Din's rifle is built wrong so he's holding the barrel and the scope points straight down. -

I agree, although I don't know if lego does too. I own the set and they both suffer from awful interiors (you can't even fit the entire crew in the ghost... there's the nosegun turret, cockpit, top turret, and room for 2 more in the "escape pods" (actually docking rings), which only gives you room for 5 of the 6 specters.) I think if they did a -$200 set with a larger ghost and phantom, they could easily get more interior for the main hull. They probably couldn't stand up, but you could do, like, Ezra/Zeb's room, Kanan/Hera's room, sabine's room, and the galley or something. The phantom only has room for a single pilot and chopper. Obviously it can't be too big but seeing as it fits the entire crew in the show it should at least have room for a figure to sit in the main area :/. I guess I know what my next stud.io project is... This would line up with usually getting the set images for the winter wave around thanksgiving. -

I managed to get the major sets (ghost (sans zeb ), phantom, TIE) because I was one of the few people who actually liked the show at the time, and TFA got me back into lego star wars so I picked a few of them up as they retired. They are really good sets, I wish that lego could make more, but alas they didn't sell well then, and with the series off the air would only sell among collectors now. I hope the sequel series gets sets, but they've got to fix the mistakes they made with the first wave. They made some super obscure stuff like the wookie gunship and ezra's speeder, released the ghost and phantom long before the series started, and then due to that made fewer and fewer sets as more people got into the series. Agh, talking about this is making me want a zeb to complete the crew....*proceeds to spend almost $15 on zeb's head alone* People born on the planet mandalore, then. -
Good list, it's got some great sets there. only thing I'd say is maybe add an imperial officer/crew or two to the star destroyer, and that's super minor. Not only are the choices great, most are pretty realistic. (and as much as I want to say they'd never make Ceff Tugg's Grub Transport...I can't, they made the IT-S, meaning that it's not only possible but logical that this would show up soon ) Alright, moving on to TLJ. Wasn't my favorite film, but I liked Luke's story in it. Microfighters: Resistance bomber ($9.99): Finch Dallow First Order dreadnaught ($9.99): first order general Fathier vs canto bight police ($9.99): Rose Tico, Canto Bight Police officer. (I kinda feel bad for the police here, they're just doing they're job and have to deal with a space horse stampede) Battle packs: Crait troopers ($14.99): 2x resistance trooper (olive green helmet), 1x resistance trooper (nougat helmet), 1x rocket-jumper (like in battlefront). Build is a bit of a crait trench with a small stud shooter turret. First Order troops ($14.99): 2x stormtrooper, 1x snowtrooper, 1x flametrooper. Build is some first order speeder or something Duel: Duel on the supremacy: Phasma (battle damage), Finn (officer disguise). Build is a bit of the landing platform with explode features and a feature to knock phasma off the elevated bit. (I HIGHLY recommend the deleted "phasma's end" scene by the way, it's an amazing scene) Other sets: Throne Room duel ($29.99, a twist on the 501st style set): A bit of the throne room with the throne, floor, and that thing the one guard gets sliced up in, with Rey, Ben, and 3 guards (one for each helmet type). Ski Speeder ($39.99): a more accurately sized ski speeder with a small resistance turret. Comes with Poe, a resistance trooper, a first order stormtrooper, and BB-8. First order Scout walker ($49.99): a first order scout walker with it's head intact, comes with a walker pilot, Finn, a snowtrooper, and General Hux. battle over D'quar ($89.99): Tallie Lintra's A-wing and a TIE silencer (slightly smaller than the 2017 one) with Tallie Lintra, Kylo Ren, General Leia, Admiral Ackbar, a first order stormtrooper, and a first order special forces TIE pilot. The Millenium Falcon ($149.99): sequel era Millenium falcon, has an updated interior and escape pod feature. Comes with Rey (jedi training), Luke, Chewbacca, 2 porgs, R2-D2 (a leia hologram is included), and 2 caretakers. UCS: UCS starfortress bomber ($399.99): Starfortress bomber with Finch Dallow, Paige Tico, and Nix Jerd.

most of this is pretty good. Only things I'd change, in my opinion, are: don't do a mouth cover, a red scarf (or just not having a neck attachment.) would work better for when he's not wearing his helmet. these might be a bit more expensive but the Winter soldier's legs with the holster, or those of young han, or TLJ finn. Any black or gray pants with a holster would work. I don't think cobb's hair is completely gray, I think it's more of a tan. So merrick's hair would work in dark tan. For the head, I'm currently using 3626cpb0946, it's not super accurate but his beard is kinda stubble-y, so eh. The imperial officer from the solo battlepack might work, though the expression doesn't really fit. Indiana Jones and star lord/bucky barnes/owen grady's heads have better expressions but once again, more stubble than beard.

Yeah, that's probably the best way to put it. just search "bo-katan armor controversy" or something along those lines. It's probably the most stupid "controversy" since "jabba's palace looks very slightly like a mosque therefore this set of part of the palace can't be sold", but it is pretty funny to see the "outrage". There are ways around this. Season one has 3 notable variants for the main guy (premiere, beskar, muddy.), and season 2 has a slight difference in the armor (though you'd only need to change like, one print, and it's not really a big enough change for most consumers to notice or care). But more importantly, Djin and the child don't need to be in every set. As long as he's in a few of the mando sets every year, the other sets can include other main characters like Cara and Greef, or other mandos like Cobb and Bo-katan, and they'd still sell well. It's definitely a problem, but there are solutions. -

How does it feel to have won the internet today? Alright, you've got me interested on your purist Bo-Katan. Woves I could see made purist, but Bo-katan eludes me there. What helmet and torso did you use? Unfortunately I doubt we'd get Ms Reeve's hairpiece if she came in a set, but I guess you never know. Their only hope for now is a gozanti remake, which seems unlikely, but on the other hand I'm sure we'll see them again this season. I assume OT sells the best, with PT and ST selling around the same behind it, hence the numbers of sets. It's good to see a fellow fan of the entire saga, by the way. But oh man, I wasn't even alive back then and I know about the ewok backlash. People thought empire strikes back would ruin the saga, too. As long as new content is released, a vocal faction will claim it ruined the franchise forever. Heck, people (probably not many actual star wars fans though) are hating on Bo-katan now, apparently. And don't get me started on the response to the high republic. -

A Black One remake and a normal FO Tie immediately pop to mind, the two most iconic sequel versions of the two most iconic vehicles. Black one came out in 2015 but x-wing design has advanced so much since then it would do well to have a remake, and the basic FO tie has never been released as a set, period. There are other things I can go on about like a new rey's speeder, exogol, etc, but I digress. Overall, I think it'll be almost completely gone for a year or two and then we'll start to see them about as often as prequel sets. I think the real question is mando sets. Even after the series ends (and we know it'll be at minimum 3 seasons), Baby Yoda and the Mandalorian will still be some of the most popular star wars characters for years to come. That said, we've got 4 system sets over the course of 2 years, so maybe it won't be much either. -
Yeah. The torso on the old one is OK, but the age definitely shows. The face is even worse (It doesn't even have pupils!), and the hair isn't remotely accurate. TFA wave: Microfighters Poe's X-wing ($9.99): Poe Dameron (pilot) Imperial trooper transport ($9.99): Captain Phasma Rey's Speeder VS Luggabeast ($19.99): Rey (staff) and Teebo. Battle packs: March of the resistance ($14.99): 2x resistance trooper (helmet in dark tan), 1x resistance trooper (helmet in nougat), 1x resistance officer (cap, torso is the tan shirt with starbird emblem. Build is a little ground transport thing. Starkiller base defenders ($14.99): 2x snowtrooper, 1x stormtrooper (heavy assault trooper), 1x snowtrooper commander (orange Pauldron). Build is a mini version of the snowspeeder they ride. Other sets: Duel: Duel on Takodana ($19.99): Section of Takodana ruins (with collapsing feature) including Finn and FN-2199. Attack on Jakku ($29.99, 501st style): bit of takodana terrain and hut with some debris. Comes with 2x first order stormtrooper, FN-2187 (bloodied helmet, though lego might not do that), first order flametrooper, Poe Dameron (helmet from start of film), BB-8. Starkiller base assault ($49.99): Starkiller base snowspeeder, bit of platform with a turbolaser turret and a first order banner. Comes with old han (parka), Chewie (snow printing), 2x snowtrooper and rey (blaster). First Order TIE ($69.99): Regular first order TIE (despite all the TIES in the past few years, we still haven't had the basic first order TIE!) with a first order TIE pilot, first order officer, Kylo ren (hood with helmet print) and first order crewmate. Black One ($79.99): Poe Dameron's Black One updated to look more similar to the 2020 set. Comes with Poe Dameron (pilot), BB-8, General Leia, Finn, and Jess Pava. First Order Troop Transporter ($109.99): Larger FO troop transport with first order officer, Phasma, 4x stormtrooper, and Rey (lightsaber). UCS: UCS Black One X-wing ($299.99): Comes with Poe Dameron (Pilot, arm printing), and BB-8.

What's your recent LEGO Star Wars Purchase?

Tuskens are dirt cheap on bricklink, I'm trying to restrain myself from ordering 10 more for $20 from one seller.. There's some good videos and posts here on modding the Barcs and AT-RTs to minifigure scale, too. -

The worst part is I think the guy's in his late 20s, so not even a tfol. Acting like that makes a little more sense when you're a kid/teen, but at his age he should know better. Oh well, whatever gets people to click his videos I guess. Whether or not they looked like convention sets, they were. The fact that they made them available to an entire country is still better than if they were only available to people who went to comic con. I would say it's too obscure to get a set, much less such an expensive one, but then again we got the IT-S ($100 from just a theme part) and AT-OT with dropship ($250 at release based on something that had a second or two of screen time with another obscure vehicle strapped on top) If it's the one I saw, it's from a guy who tried to photoshop it like he had found a more clear version of the set. The mando was the old helmet on a jango torso. -

I agree, Jang's got the best reviews. MandR does annoyingly enough seem to have an exclusive source, but yeah the way he conducts himself and how sensationalized and clickbaity his videos are make it tough to watch, especially when 90% of his rumor and leak videos are him complaining about a relative lack of prequel sets. -
LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Mandalorianknight replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
And yeah MandR is pretty controversial among afols (kids might like him idk). Didn't he make some video where he did a fake interview with a lego designer, but mocked one specific designer in the group? He just seems entitled and mean-spirited to me when things don't go his exact way. I mean, he literally pressured lego into making a set he wanted and then within a few months he's already talking about how they never listen to the fans and how 2021 will be the worst year ever. Agreed on both points. -
Please apply to some sort of administrative job at lego/lucasfilm where you get to choose the sets. Those are all great choices! If we get another, I'd say the most likely set would be for the empire. They've got a similar cool factor, but are clearly different troops. Maybe a set with 3 stormtroopers and a scout, with a speeder bike and turbolaser turret? Continuing on with my list for each film, ROTJ Microfighters: A-wing ($9.99): A-wing pilot TIE interceptor ($9.99): TIE pilot Jabba's Barge vs desert skiff ($19.99): nikto henchman and Luke skywalker (ROTJ robes). A very, very tiny sarlacc is also included, about the size of the mini builds the 2017 microfighter two-packs had. Battle packs: Endor rebel troopers ($14.99): 2x rebel commando (green trenchcoat), 2x rebel commando (tan vest), 1x ewok (tan jacket). Build is a small tree with a trap. Imperial Endor troopers ($14.99): 2x stormtrooper, 1x scout trooper, 1x navy trooper. Build is a speeder bike and a bit of bunker exterior. Duel: Death star Duel ($19.99): An affordable version of final duel. The throne, a small staircase, and a collapsible balcony. Comes with luke and vader, and has those duel turntable things that were in the starkiller base duel. Other sets: Ewok attack ($29.99, like a 501st set): Teebo, Wicket, an ewok warrior, and an Ewok Scout with builds for a glider and catapult. A scout trooper is included to oppose them. A-wing ($39.99): A-wing starfighter using a new technique for the wings (like this moc I made), with Lando, an A-wing pilot, Mon Mothma, and admiral ackbar. Tie interceptor ($69.99): TIE interceptor in the style of 2018's tie fighter with a tie pilot, palpatine, jerjerrod, a stormtrooper, and an imperial officer. AT-ST trap ($69.99): An at-st (similar to 2016 model), with a build of two trees that have the log smash function. Figures are 2 at-st pilots, a stormtrooper, Chewbacca, Palpoo, and Logray. Endor bunker ($129.99): Large endor bunker build with interior command center, reactor, and hallway. Included figures are Han, Leia, Rex, Chief Chirpa (new mold), 2x imperial navy trooper, an imperial officer, 2x scout trooper, and 2x stormtrooper. A speeder bike is also included. UCS: MBS jabba's palace ($399.99): split into a 2000-ish piece jabba's palace (interior is split into three sections. The middle, and largest, has a rancor pit on the bottom (with rancor of course) and throne room with trapdoor at the top. The left side has a stairwell and prision with a guard outpost at the top, and the right side has a droid torture chamber, and an entrance gate at the top.), 1500-ish piece jabba's sail barge (with deck-mounted blasters and interior jabba's (throne? Slab? whatever he sits on), viewing area and kitchen), as well as a 200-ish piece skiff and a sarlacc. Comes with Jabba, Krumb, Bib Fortuna, Boba Fett, Leia (boushh), Leia (Huttslayer), Han (carbonite sickness), Luke (jedi knight), R2, C-3po, Lando (disguise), 2 gammorean guards, malaki (rancor keeper dude), Yakface, a Quarren, Ephant Mon, 2x weequary guard, kithba, Sny snootles, Max rebo, an Ishi tib, a Gran, EV-9D9, torture droid, GNK droid, and B'morr monk.

I think the argument is more so "lego wasn't informed about cobb vanth for secrecy reasons". At least I hope so, I skimmed the last few pages. Are people really connecting the lack of cobb to this "disney is the literal devil and they're responsible for every bad thing that lego does" delusion? What, you don't remember this scene? Where luke skywalker's skin color changes, he goes back in time, and meets young anakin? It's most people's favorite scene in The Phantom Menace! Accurate summary of the marvel forum, that's why I had to stop reading it . Image is bad quality, but I'm certain it's silver and not gun metal. It's tough to make out details, but the color looks silver. The image is maximum potato quality so I can't entirely tell, but I think that maybe, maybe, there Might be a jetpack across from baby yoda on the speeder. Looks like he's got more silver colored armor in this set, but luckily we've got that too! -

Where's your evidence here? Sure, it seems like they're selling well, but "like no lego sets ever before in the history of their company" might be a bit of an exaggeration. As for why we aren't getting many sets for the extremely specific list you've made of every on-screen canon besides the OT and ST: Rogue one and solo each had at least one, (with solo having 2 and rogue one having a fair amount of sets in the january wave) wave(s) of sets, like the sequels lego is going to wait a while before making more for them. We have a mandalorian set coming out. Rebels and Clone wars are animated series and lego doesn't usually do many sets for those after they finish airing. The CW movie 1) was almost as bad as the holiday special, 2) got a massive wave of sets upon it's release and 3) is another animated property, so I'd imagine the same rule applies as with the shows. I maintain that there's no way that's supposed to be a tent. If lego genuinely intended for that to be a tent, I think we're gonna need a new designer. Lego can't make a figure based off rumors... -

There's supposed to be a campfire but it is pretty hard to make out...maybe it's part of a cave wall or something? A feeding station for the banthas that aren't in lego? The only thing I'll add to pedilego's response is that refusing to buy a multi hundred dollar set that you;ve been campaigning for because one of the figures included has a different skin tone just seems odd to me. Took the words right out of my mouth. Exactly. Lego makes a good amount of prequel sets (There were MORE prequel sets in the summer 2020 wave than OT, mandalorian, or ST sets, for crying out loud). The OT gets a few more sets overall because it assumably sells better. Lego would be making very poor decisions if they decided to push out sets that don't sell as well just so each trilogy gets an equal amount. -

it's a new color, but I think the mold is the same. I agree on both that set is better than the AT-ST raider and that leia could be a new variant or re-use of a rare one. Yeah, it's the latter. That one's also good to put around IG-11's neck to re-create the speeder scene from episode 8. Set looks fine. The swoop, from what I can make out, looks fine. Maybe a little oversized but not that bad, and the design is good too. The ballista also seems a bit oversized though I'm not sure, I'll have to re-watch the episode. The "tent" is not a tent, which isn't really lego's fault, as I don't think that was meant to be a tent in the first place. The best part about this set is the figure selection, though. It's hard to make out detailing but beskar mando is at least using silver and not that dark gray they used earlier, so that's great. Baby yoda is probably the exact same as the other set, which is perfectly fine. The tusken miiiiight have a new torso print, but don't qoute me on that, I can barely see it. -
Definitely black. this torso isn't great, but if you're not using the one with the medal it's the only one remotely close. (I'm sure luke's switched out his undershirt in the comics at some point...I hope he didn't wear just one shirt for 2 years )

3/4 of the system scale sets and 1/3 the microfighters are remakes, true, but here's why. The system sets are doing a new thing this year where they somewhat reduce the size to make it much cheaper, which I think is great. For their new approach it makes sense that they'd go with the two most iconic star wars vehicles ever (and the shuttle was due for a remake anyway). For figures, there are at minimum two completely new figures, beskar mando and Dodanna, and another one that's got a new print (death star droid). Plus, there's potential for more (I'd guess black jacket han from ESB in the falcon, and maybe new prints for the tusken and pilots). So first off, not helping your point there. if the skin tone of a figure from a likely multi-hundred dollar set is what makes you not buy it, re-examine how much you wanted the set in the first place. I completely get why cobb isn't in the set and I'm fine with him not showing up, but he is not easy to custom. The relative lack of armor scoring on the armor is fine, but the torso under boba's armor is light grey instead of dark red, and he looks really weird once you put on red arms, like he's wearing a gray tank top over a red sweater. Plus, none of the other characters make any sense to be in this set, and no one's saying he would replace the tusken (who I'm glad is in the set but they're like $3 each on bricklink they're not exactly rare). People would be wanting him in addition to the tusken, and 3 figures plus the child isn't unreasonable for a $30 set. Again, I'm super happy with the set as-is and due to potential spoilers if it had leaked earlier it makes sense cobb isn't there, but he's not easy to make in purist form. Don't worry about the armorer and paz at least, lego knows mandalorians sell like hotcakes, they'll show up eventually. That's why I stopped looking at the superheroes thread (well, that and the MCU's big run ended). Saying a nice thing about a set there is a death sentence. It's a bit better here, but still odd that "$30 set with beskar mando and the child" is now some bad set because it doesn't include a character that most people didn't know was even going to show up until 2 weeks ago. Cobb's in my top 5 favorite star wars characters, but c'mon. Give lego some time.
