  1. That's a nice model of an iconic scene - great work!
  2. From the diary of Lt. Edmund Harrington, 7th Royal Engineers: 3 September, 1886 - After our local guides abandoned us (firing on us and taking all but one of the pack animals with them, I might add), I nearly decided to call off the expedition and drag Dr. Kilroy back to civilization. I was anticipating a raid by the heathen scoundrels' kinsmen to finish us off. The lad may be a brilliant scholar, and he certainly has a great deal of pluck, but he's utterly helpless with a gun (he somehow managed to break my revolver within an hour of my lending it to him)! Now I'm glad that I didn't turn us round; we've finally reached the ruins of Havilah. The local tribesmen won't come near this place as they think it haunted by a djinn or some such nonsense. If the legends I've heard are true, this city was once a vast repository of gold and jewels. At any rate, the sun is setting now and I shall have to make camp; heaven help us if Kilroy tries to put up the tent! - E. H.
  3. @SteamSewnEmpire I think you're right...plus, as well-designed as that model may be, the face is pure nightmare fuel! Of all the depictions of Thomas in Lego, @ScotNick's probably had the best chance of being accepted.
  4. That's a great looking build! (And welcome to the Sea Rats, by the way.) Nice reference in the name! It's a pity that Lego never made a Nock volley gun for minifigs, though...then it could be called Lock, Stock, Seven Smoking Barrels, and One Dislocated Shoulder!
  5. Now that would have made a great entry for last year's Octrainber! @Doug72 Nice looking layout!
  6. The new banner looks great! Thanks to all who made it happen!
  7. That looks awesome! The custom decals really set it apart.
  8. @Brandon Pea @Klaus-Dieter Hmmm, I'd never paid enough attention to TLG's City theme to notice that! Where would a series of historical vignettes belong? Creator, perhaps? Edit: Just found this topic with some cool museum ideas for the modular line!
  9. Those sound like some great ideas, @Klaus-Dieter! I've been thinking of a museum subtheme for City. The sets could be 8x8 modules, each representing an exhibit from a different time period. These could include historical minifigs to fill a similar niche as CMFs, but with more accessories and side builds. The modules could connect together to expand the museum display.
  10. @Brandon Pea Thank you!
  11. Sorry for the month old-plus topic bump, but I've made some additions to the layout and rearranged the town in the past few weeks. The walls of the top level of this inn are made from SNOTted plates. It's a less parts-intensive way to get a half-timbered wall rather than stacking so many bricks. This next house is the largest in the layout. A shortage of tan bricks meant including dark tan and grey, but the mottled look is growing on me. The lighthouse is very simple and was just made from leftover parts in various grey/tan shades. The rocky knoll on which it sits serves to hide the edge of the plywood base. The switch for the LED is accessible from a window in the back. Finally, here's a shot of the revised layout - I wanted to try building "off-grid" so it isn't all right angles. Thanks for looking! Soli Deo Gloria
  12. That engine looks great with the lights and side rods!
  13. Very nice build! There are so many little details to discover. That old man had better blast that skunk before it gets any closer!
  14. I meant to take these pictures when I first read that, but just now got around to it! Hopefully this csn give you some inspiration for small conifer trees. Looking forward to seeing more of your awesome layout!
  15. Wonderful! The details and proportions are spot-on!
  16. This is amazing! I think this is the first time I've seen functioning brakes and sprung buffers in a Lego train. You should also post it in the Train Tech forum to share the awesomeness over there!
  17. Nice designs with good greebling and interesting shapes! The Blacktron color scheme looks very stealthy!
  18. I hope you do well in your endeavor! Reading the explanation of the high costs of manufacturing reminded me of something I heard recently: if you want to make a small fortune in manufacturing, start with a large fortune! Best of luck and looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
  19. Wonderful! Great details all around - I like the skylights and vegetation details.
  20. It's addressed in this topic. I never learned Roman numerals well enough to understand it!
  21. Great build and a fascinating piece of history!
  22. That's a great little station! I like how you used the profile bricks as flower beds.
  23. Nice - I like the rockwork and color choices!
  24. Nice posing and lighting!
