  1. Yes, but who wants to pay full price? I ordered a set for 118 including shipping. I am going to sell off the unwanted parts and just keep Smaug. Anyway, I still cannot understand why there is so little Hobbit Lego on the market here.
  2. Seriously, what is going on with LEGO Germany and The Hobbit? ? - I checked 3 stores which have no LOTR or Hobbit sets whatsoever. - on amazon.de, on the allmighty amazon, there are only lonely mountain sets from thord part sellers, starting at 154 Euro!!! - there is NO, I repeat NO, Smaug on Bricklink in Germany. Only 16 lots worldwide! - there is ONE Smaug on Ebay Germany, 65 Euro - karstadt.de doesn't have LOTR or the Hobbit Let me phrase it in Latin: Quod the f*ck? Did I miss something? I just went on Holiday for 3 weeks after Christmas and now the only ways to get a Smaug are these? Am I too late? Too early?
  3. Is Smaug off the Shelves in Germany already? I couldnt find him in 3 stores and no LOTR whatsoever.
  4. Could a licensed torso show up in non-licensed sets?
  5. Hi Everyone, a basic problem with making some animals mountable is that they do not have space for a minifig's legs. This for example is true for the bear, giant eagle and griffin. Just making a fig sit un the back of the creature takes away the dynamics of the scene and the diginity of the fig. Gandalf sitting on a giant eagle like in an armchair looks ridiculous. I have tried many ways of kneeling figs, but liked none. I thought about sawing an open space into the animal, but this would be very challenging. In my recent attempt with the armored bear (http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=103523), I have tried a customization technique that was suprisingly easy to do and yielded acceptable results. Cut off the lower area of the legs, glue them on the animal and pretend the legs reach down by adding fake sides. In this case, I used cape cloth to get the same color. Since I am still dreaming of a regiment of eagle riders and griffins, I want to further pursue that technique with more accurate decals of a leg's side made from painted paper. It is not an easy shape, with a round area above and the foot below. Therefore, my question is: Has anyone ever done decals of a minifig's leg's side? Does anynone have files with templates in the right scale? This would save me a lot of time and be greatly appreciated.
  6. IMHO Purist custom figs are a gray area. If that logic were applied to all LEGO, then every MOC would be a custom because it deviates from the original design. This would very much weaken the term customization. Figs however whose arms were taken off, might be seen as customs, because the weakening of the arm holes indicates that this was not a procedure initially intended by TLG. Also legs.
  7. I havent done heads yet and I think fine straight Lines are one of the most difficult things to do. Maybe if you use two stripes of masking tape like tesa film and leave only a very fine line free and then paint this. But this gives you only one line... Another idea are fingernail airbrush stencils, they have lots of very small motives.
  8. Very nice! They remind me of a warhammer orc and Goblin army.
  9. I never saw her as an elf. No pointy ears, no cheeklines...
  10. Have we given up hope for a female elf counterpart to the series 3 elf?
  11. There are a few treads in this forum about paints you can use. Also useful are a scalpel, sanding paper and superglue. Stickers can be useful, too. Tape to protect from unwanted painting. I like using a dremel as well. The rest is in your head. Where can parts be cut off und glued to others? Where do official parts not suffice? Which parts do not come in the desired color? What should lego make, but they dont?
  12. I like how the amount of tantacles flexing in hungry anticipation like snakes mentioned in the text is exactly the same as the amount of tentacles flexing in hungry anticipation like snakes in the fig! Where is the head from?
  13. Nice! I like the monks and wizards.
  14. Great figs! How is the treasury guards' big shield made?
  15. Thanks. If you drill into the gladius with the right diameter, you can stick in the lance. Besides that there is no joint line, the rest is one piece.
  16. Prince Baerenn on Snaefellsness the Bear Only few have ever mounted a white bear and lived. Snaefellsness was the only exception known among elves and Baerenn was the only rider he accepted. After the battle of the northern plains, he became the first bear ever to be honored with the protective rune of Griss-Ly. left by MWardancer, on Flickr right by MWardancer, on Flickr Customized parts: bear: - armor cut and milled and dremeled from two other bears, painted - brickwarriors helmet cut and glued on the bears headplate, painted - the rune is a games workshop sticker - studs cut off rider: - brickwarriors helmet painted - armor painted - lance made from gladius and lance. - legs cut off and glued on bear - fake legs cut from a cape I will add a longer description later. Comments and criticism welcome.
  17. Changing the standard shield would be quite the change after all these decades. But they have done it with the horse. I would welcome this as a new shield because it is bigger.
  18. Very creative once again. Not my cup of tea, but I would like to see more lizardmen factions.
  19. I went through the animal body part category on bricklink for quite a while to See if there was a Way to built a massive dragon from all elephant/dinosaur/whatever parts available, but nothing seems to work. Maybe jurassic World will help.
  20. I own two green armored Fantasy dragons and a hungarian horntail. I consider Smaug the ultimate dragon. The horntail is not detailled enough. The green one is nice, but inferior to Smaug I think. The even more Ultimate dragon would be an airbrushed Smaug in dark green and brown. Or a dark green brickbuilt body with two heads from the molded green dragon.
  21. The hotdog Guy will be the easiest fig to feel ever. Too bad no one needs an army of these.
  22. Thanks for the review. The only item that interests me is the kings pelt. i am glad that it can be combined with capes in every color.
  23. How does the western guy's moustache hold??
