The pictures above do not show the considerable difference between the legs's width. Here it is: Smaug's leg is about 5mm wider, also the feet. Take that times two and it makes an IMHO big difference for the overall impression. The old leg mould would have made a much slimmer looking dragon as the second picture suggests. legs front by MWardancer, on Flickr mix by MWardancer, on Flickr Also interesting is that the classic leg is higher than Smaug's. Edit: I have just tried exchanging the neckpiece. Smaug with the green neck looks good from above in terms of size, but the angle of the neck doesn't fit the shape of the torso. Viewed from the side, it looks very odd. So TLG could not have tried that either.

Dragon Size Comparison It is safe to say that Smaug is the biggest dragon around. But is he bigger only by a bit or by far? What makes him so giantic? And, above all: Why is comparing body parts so much fun? I shall let the pictures speak for themselves and will only add a humble verdict. heads by MWardancer, on Flickr legs by MWardancer, on Flickr torsos by MWardancer, on Flickr wings by MWardancer, on Flickr necks by MWardancer, on Flickr Standing by MWardancer, on Flickr I was rather astonished that a huge part of the difference in size is a result of the different torsos. I did not expect Smaug's torso to be that much longer. The same is true for the neck. One aspect the pictures do not convey is the overall size, because that was done by others already. Smaug is insanely huge. A minifig on the Hungarian Horntail looks somehow proportionate. The green one gives the impression that it can be ridden by an outstanding rider it regards as its master. It is somewhat possible to built a very long lance for a fig on these two. If you put a fig on Smaug, it appears to be lost, a small speck on the back of a dark red beast. I tried to give various weapons to the rider, but they all look like a sad joke in comparison to all the claws and horns. Maybe a fine lady or a wise mage is the best option.

Nice! I have never seen that boob armor technique before! Maybe it would look more coherent if the Cups were the same color as the armor underneath. Just an idea, its fine as it is.

Review LEGO Elves Azari's Magic Fire Polybag
Wardancer replied to brickpreviews's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
What exactly makes this fire "magic"? -
79018 The Lonely Mountain in Germany You want the dwarves, but not the lizard? You want the buildings, but not the dwarves? Maybe this interests you: Options: - everything except Smaug for 90 Euro including box, instructions etc. (this is 10 Euro less than the cheapest one on Bricklink) - all the figs for 25 Euro (this is also cheaper that buying all the figs on bricklink) - all the buildings for 65 Euro including box, instructions etc., (thats still around 750 parts, you don't get that price per piece often) In any case, the parts are either still in sealed packets or never been played with. Shipping not included. Insured shipping only. European Union preferred. Trade also possible, for example for a substantial number of CMF S3 elves or Thranduils or Elronds. I am not trying to make a profit here, I just need a Smaug for a somewhat reasonable price.

Thanks for the upload. It would be somewhat ironic if the super girly theme produced the most detailled swords. Nice questioning of gender borders and all that.

Could someone please post a screenshot of these new swords?

Can current decal-makers make decals that have real metallic paint on them? Also on legs?

I need Lego shavings for project, but how?
Wardancer replied to Cloveapple's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Maybe use thinner parts like antennae. Cutting an antenna with a strong knife (bread knife, meat knife) cannot be harder than cutting a carrot. -

A Blender surely is the best option. If that is too expensive, I could imagine it also works with a Hand Blender (stick blender?). They often habe pretty sharp blades and some half bowl cover around it, which might keep the lego parts close to the blades when in use. I also like the idea with the ice cubes. Shaken, not stirred! -
I thought about High Elves a lot and its almost impossible if you look for making them white. For some reason, there is a distinct lack of parts with white/Silver combinations. One important step towards this was the CMF Greek battle Goddesses torso in white and gold, but this is only one part. Lizardmen I would enjoy seeing. There are lizardmen heads by brickforge and lots of dinosaurs to make bigger units.

Our Latest Minifigure - Dr Anatomini
Wardancer replied to MinifigureHQ's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Wow, this looks like perfect printing design and quality. I am very impressed. A part of me wants to turn the guy into a game of thrones ice zombie, but the color would not fit. I like how you kept it lego-like, with the smile, the ribs and the leg bones that resemble original parts.- 6 replies

Hi, I am selling some loot from contests and raffles I won over the years. Brickwarriors and brickTW items: https://www.flickr.c...in/photostream/ Royal Brick Customs Capes: https://www.flickr.c...in/photostream/ Some of these may be considered rare because RBC had to stop making them. All items are unused. I am thinking 50 eurocent per item. That is easy to calculate :-D . Shipping to where it makes sense moneywise, Germany and EU preferred. Shipping the capes is cheap, because they can g in an envelope. Trading is also possible. A few wants: - brown bears (4) - brownish LOTR elven shields (7) - brown horses, old model (4) - CMF series 3 elf or any parts of it - atlantis emperor armors and helmets - all printed shields suitable for elves (pegasus, bird, runes, green with gold pattern, tree) - dark green hoods - silver spears (the normal, less elaborate slightly darker metallic ones) - elaborate spears, any color - ravens (the ones that sit on Tonto's head) - Theodens legs - elven hairpieces with long hair without jewellery - black bows - Rohan soldiers' torso - many other elf-related parts - the newest Elrond (6) - this weird chima part (http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=18395) (6) - CMF warrior women - olive green arms (8x2) - dark green wavy flags - sand green wavy flags - tan skeleton legs - Chima scorpion king Feel free to ask me.

I feel a bit underqualified with my answer, but... I am no pro, but in my neighbourhood many who know better than I do use the cheap Canon Powershot S110. I got it for 230 Euro. Many of my friends have praised this. It works quite well with little light and I also like using it for videos on holiday. I point it at the LEGO I want to take a picture of and then I press the button. Sometimes in super macro, it doesn't get everything sharp, but this I feel could be avoided if I read the manual.

I found the LEGO version of the 50 Shades of Grey trailer very erotic. I watched it about 8 times. Every time I drink Jaegermeister, I wonder how to implement their stag logo into my wood elf army. When my younger pupils bring LEGO to school, I feel like "Hey, you're a bit young for being an AFOL, aren't you."

Did I see that right that this curved winglike part shaped like half a bow will be available in some light yellow instead of only bright orange?

Chima, Ninjago and Lotr have set new standards in detail. Compared to a fully printed sabertoothtigerzombie with an ice leg, a kingdoms knight looks naive, childlike and unrealistically symmetric. If there is a new castle line, the question is whether it falls behind the new standard. The last one did and left AFOLs disappointed. That is why I am sceptic about 2016.

Clay / Molding Material Recommendations?
Wardancer replied to agoodfella77's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I cannot give advice on clays, but I noticed that the part you want to make is basically two-dimensional, a flat shape bent backwards along the middle. I think it might be easier to make a 2D template, apply it on some kind of thin plastic (bottom of a Yoghurt or plastic bottle?) or metal (soda can?) or cardboard, cut it out with nail scissors, paint and glue it to a headpiece. This might be easier than making a very thin, detailled and symmetric part from a very flexible material like clay. -
MOC: DST1a "Griffin" and DST 1b "Raven"
Wardancer replied to Wardancer's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Thank you very much! Today I can finally present the DST1c "Falcon" Even though Germans Elves have become one of the worlds leaders in exporting weapons, their own needs should not be forgotten. The Falcon is their tool of choice when normal bows reach their limits. 01 total by MWardancer, on Flickr 02 top by MWardancer, on Flickr 03 targeting by MWardancer, on Flickr 04 front by MWardancer, on Flickr This one was ridiculously difficult and expensive to make. The story might serve as a example of how good the EB community works and how things may go in the AFOL world: In the brickowl database I found the space wing in old brown. Not for sale, just the entry of its existence. Bricklink, for some reason, did not have old brown in the list of known colors. However, it reported that one specimen in old brown had been sold. I was puzzled whether the part would exist or not. So I started a thread to look for it in the BSTF forum. Nothing happened for months. Then the helpful CopMike came along and offered me some of the spaces wing in old brown. Where he had them from I know not. In which set these ever existed I have no idea. So, due to the help from above (the North that is), I got the wings. All I had to do to finish was to buy ridiculously expensive old brown hands, clips with plates and strings. I plan to make three of these for my army once I am willing to spend more. It was important to make these for my army which uses greens and browns. White was not possible because the use white is restricted to noble or spiritual units and a spear thrower is none of that. It is slightly customized like most of my army.- 15 replies
