  1. You are right. Silver is also ok. I am just glad for every Elves part that isn't glittering.
  2. Nice, the pegasus' gray wings will significantly upgrade my Harry Potter griffins.
  3. Hmm, interesting choice to make a normal Tie and not any other more interesting Tie like the Advanced, Bomber etc. A Tie can carry 65 Kilos of cargo according to the info plate??? Impressive!
  4. Thanks for the Info.I like the waistcape. Color range could be bigger, but its ok, we can paint.
  5. Very nice! Thanks for the detailled description!
  6. It also depends on what kind of customization you'll do. "Extenders" like me (just made up that expression) extend the possibilities given by LEGO only a bit. The result still looks very much like lego, but like lego that does not exist officially. In this case you only have a limited amount of paint on a fig and sealing becomes a minor issue. Others modify figs almost completely. Methods like drybrushing, a lot of painting and others sometimes make the result look like a Warhammer fig. This is totally legit and often requires a lot of skill. In this case you will have figs with a big percentage of the surface painted and that might need sealing. Anyway, it's a lot of trial and error. I am excited to see what someone with a lot of experience like you will make.
  7. A difficult question. Using enamel paint, I rarely felt the need to use any sealer at all. However, once I used a very matte paint that needed sealing. I Mixed glossy and matte to get some satinlike coat. I figure thats closets to regular bricks. Too shiny looks strange, also it makes talking pictures more difficult. One might also argue that the use of capes brings a very matte material into a fig anyway, so that a matte seal would be a smaller deviation from that than a high glossy one. Also cutting and sanding lego surfaces changes their finish. There might be cases where applying a seal could repair a surface that has been sanded or scratched in a customization process.
  8. This MOC made me look up stuff about manticores. There seems to a trashy movie from 2005 in which a manticore in Irak fights against soldiers. It would be fun to watch.
  9. I needed a while to understand what this does. I love how this has an evil gloomy scary disgusting and a peaceful natural beautiful atmosphere at the same time! It sickens and pleasures the eye simultanously.
  10. I wonder if this could be useful, but I think it is too big: http://cdn.thebrickblogger.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/70200-LEGO-Legends-of-Chima-Laval.jpg
  11. Now I finally had the time to take a deeper look at the army. Many discuss the failures of the LOTR line, but one advantage is that at armys like this could be built. All the brown makes it look very coherent. My own army is based on the CMF elf, so it is very interesting to see a more "wooden" army with the elves being more leathery than silver. Your riders for example use the wooden spears instead of silver ones and I think this works well. The beserkerlike punk elf group sticks out, but that is what they are supposed to. I am looking forward to seeing the special units and creatures.
  12. I rarely like brickbuilt animals, but this is great! I like how you managed to combine the different colors of a hybrid figure into one. The poseability is awesome! First Lego manticore I have ever seen!
  13. Legions of kids, including myself, have been waiting for ages for a LEGO aircraft carrier. And now there is one which can fly. How cool is that!
  14. Hmpf, they seem to work hard to ensure that the animals can only be used in friends/elves. That pegasus is way too cute.
  15. Using these microfigs in that scale is new for an official set, isn't it?
  16. What about the Pegasus???
  17. Very good! Instantly recognizable.
  18. That is a serious amount of elves! And the horses, lots of riders! An impressive army with many good choices. I like the head variation in the regiments for example. Also the battle trays seem to work well on that scale. Looking forward to seeing more!
  19. Is the helmet in dark metallic silver a new color?
  20. Although I am 35 years old, I have no relationship or knowledge about Scooby Doo. Maybe this was before my time or maybe we did not have the right TV channels. Gigs and sets look well-made. Interesting to have a brickbild carnivore plant in Scooby Doo and a guy in a carnivore plant suit in CMF 14.
  21. A gray werewolf would be awesome! I would turn it into a hat.
  22. Cape Madness is the best I know.
  23. I don't really set a budget, but I think I should. Especially the smaller orders from Bricklink, 8 Euro here, another 12 here, and another 10..., these add up to big sums as well. I try to stay between 40-100 Eu a month. If it is more, I try to sell off unwanted parts or figs.
  24. Well, I don't mind paying full price usually for smaller sets, but 130 is a lot when you actually only want the dragon. Now I paid 118 and hope to get 85 for the set and the figs.
  25. Yes, but who wants to pay full price? I ordered a set for 118 including shipping. I am going to sell off the unwanted parts and just keep Smaug. Anyway, I still cannot understand why there is so little Hobbit Lego on the market here.
