That reindeer needs to be sent into battle, which will hopefully harden its features. Looks like Playmobil. -

Nice fig. I like the belt. I am not focussed on scifi, but I wonder why anyone would buy it. Are there not dozens of comparable figs officially available?- 26 replies

Hi, there seems to be a growing market for printing torsos and custom figs. This is great. However, printing metallic colors seems to be impossible. At least no one does it. Or am I wrong? Can someone do it? Is it ridiculously expensive? If I were to ... for example... wanted to make female elven torsos with metallic print, how many could I get for say 100 Euros. Or would it make sense to have a little private crowdsourcing with a few friends for that?

It is good to have something going on in MCW again! Mully looks hot. -
Maybe one could use the surface of the shield only without the the techie backpart. Also I think the visors can be Imported in traditional castle.

Help with hoplites
Wardancer replied to Nagol of Fortfield's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I am not sure if your question is about making decals or about making a custom army. About making a custom army like you are intending: It is a lot of fun to have an army that no one else has. But it might also be kind of expensive. But also very rewarding. I have worked on a custom army (not yet published) for three years and I love it. Do custom products look like original parts? It depends on how much you customize. If you just cut off of glue together parts of weapons with superglue, the result will look very good. As soon as painting gets involved, the result will not look like a TLG product any more. If you look through the few parts of the army I have online, you will see examples. Making decals I have not tried, but it seems to yield good results. You will encounter problems. Painting a complete weapon is difficult, because the hands of a minifig will scratch off the paint. If I were you, I would go as far as possible with the existing products first and then customize what you need. Brickforge, brickwarriors, cape madness, all these offer a big range of parts you can use. Go through bricklink and look at ALL existing torsos. You will find many that fit into roman or greek armies, some from Chima, some from CMF, whatever. Then go through all the legs and so on. After a while, you will develop an eye for what fits into our army. And you will notice things that are missing. That shield in this color or a longer spear or whatever, as you have mentioned in your post. This is where customizing comes in. As little as possible to keep prize and imperfections low, but enough to make what you need. Start small. Paint the plume of a hoplite helmet it you need a different color for example. Or the tip of the weapon. -

A very creative idea! This is the first zombie parrot I have ever seen. -
A great army. I like the light gray as color for the helmets in combination with the shields. A nice gray horde. Also different beard colors look fine. So expand! Make more different regiments, war machines and leaders!

Fright Knights Conspiracy: Basil the Batlord is a Vampire?
Wardancer replied to Eggyslav's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
The whole idea of vampires fighting with weapons or armors seems to be a very modern idea. Skyrim, Blade, Underworld - who cares? That has little to do with the traditional iconic vampire. I doubt TLG wanted to make a modern Hightech Fantasy vampire when they made Basil. Of course exceptions exist, but I still believe that centuries of gothic literature (not Computer games a few years old) include a vampire archetype which is in most cases unarmored. -
Fright Knights Conspiracy: Basil the Batlord is a Vampire?
Wardancer replied to Eggyslav's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Ok, so he is Vampire Lord disguised as a mortal by the helmet even in his own castle. The helmet also makes his primary weapon and most iconic feature useless - his fangs. I think armored vampires are a very rare exception, maybe a very modern idea to make them look special in the abundance of supernatural creatures in mainstream fantasy. One important feature of vampires is their superhuman strenght and invulnerability although they look Human und normal. A helmet destroys that effect. A gothic setting and the bat logo do not automatically make him a vampire. The resemblance to Vlad the Impaler I would not count, because he was not a vampire but the real source for the dracula myth. The only strong evidence I accept are the fangs in his drivers licence. Maybe he is a human Vlad the impaler before he turned into a vampire. -

But Vampires never wear armor or helmets because they are immortal. -

I also think Chima is hard to beat - What could be cooler than Icezombiesabertoothtigers? All the cool factions, no lava monster can keep up with that.

Haha, all that Satyr talk makes me think about the very stupid TV series "Nymphs". It had satyrs in it and they were the only ones that could sleep with nymphs without dying. -
It might be due to a hobby which consists of putting the right piece in the right position, but I fail to understand why people care about the name and location of threads. On the other hand, I myself do not like it when people post purist stuff in the MCW. Maybe that is the same thing.

Hmm, at least the old dragon wings in new colors. Maybe they can be used for making new dragons im combination with old parts from dragons and dinosaurs.
