The prize for the custom category looks like lego weapons painted with a metallic pencil. Anyway, I am going to participate with the same amount of exciment as every year!

Bonus picture for those who still doubt the size of Smaug the Tremendous: Dragon and Griffin by MWardancer, auf Flickr The problems I have with brickbuilt dragons are these - head - often not detailled enough in comparison to the fig on the dragon - wings - often either too thick or not realistic - joints - often visible and unrealistic, often in the wrong color The Ninajgo dragons were ok in terms of head. The wings were utterly nonsense, no dragon could ever fly with wings without membrane (Yes, I am aware they could never fly in reality...). The joins are also like no living creature has their joints. It would be interesting to see more combinations. A brickbuilt Smaug with the original head and wings. A green fantasy dragon which has a brickbuilt body, but the original legs, arms, tail and DOUBLE heads/necks. I always wanted to do that and even bought two green ones, but never tried. Currently I am trying to solve the wing problem with altbricks leaf pieces. They are very sturdy and could make nice leaf wings for a leaf dragon.

Ok, I'll see to take that comparison picture soon as long as I still have all three dragons. I am on Holiday at the moment. Captain Nemo, next week I am going to make you an offer for a horntail which will be far below 100 bucks. And for a green one as well. Maybe we can work something out. I am trying to downsize my airforce a bit to invest into bears. By the way, the buckbeak griffins look good with the new pegasus wings...

I am still planning to give arms to Smaug, but it will surely be around Christmas time until I find the time. As the dark red arms are relatively cheap, I suggest carving them exaxtly to fit Smaugs body. If they don't fit, get new arms and try again. This way there is little risk of damaging the expensive dragon body, because you just apply the glue when you have already tried that the arms fit exactly. I suggest filling the hollow Joint with something and then applying the glue there on the inside instead of glueing the edges of the joint which will leave visible glue marks. IMHO there is no way to get the arm moveable because there is no straight surface on Smaugs body where they could rotate. So you have to decide which angle you want and then carve the joint accordingly. You cannot just attach the arms without modifying them because there is no flat straight surface for that, at least not where the arms belong. This may sound complicated, but there is little risk of damaging the dragon and failing. Worst case is maiming a few dragon arms for a few euros each. If you cannot cut them to fit, you can still leave it as it is and enjoy your dragon unharmed.

Thank you for the reindeer pictures. Now it has eyes, but marihuana eyes. Hmm, it still has very roundish, soft features. It would look strange next to a regular lego horse which has straighter edges. I am still going to get one, maybe it looks better with an oldschool saddle and a regular fig on it.

Ah, I confused the temple and the polybag. I mean the printed legs from the polybag. That explains why many sellers already have lots of them. According to Bricklink, the legs are reddish brown with dark brown print.

Great! I was looking for another reddish brown leg piece that looks elvish and Dareth fills that void. Awesome temple. Not the theme for me, but good for you.

I think threads like this need to be revived regularly as the collection of data over time is their purpose. I do not know about the color you look for, but a few posts above nine09nueve describes how to find paint using the rgb color code and a paint database. This might give you an idea. You're looking for a rather specialized color, I am not sure if many others have looked for this. If you succeed be sure to post the matching paint here to improve the MCW color matching database.

I have never liked pearl gold. I kind of banned it from my army because it looks cheap. So I vote for the metallic gold!

The colors look very brilliant! How does the other side of the capes look?

Would the other gold be a real metallic tone? Love the sword! Still no silver!

I know what I mean (in the thread I opened). I just thought it might be a cheaper workaround to print everything except metallic on metallic surface.

Has someone tried regular printing on metallic parts? One could for example buy stuff from chromebricks and instead of printing the metallic paint on it print everything else so that the metallic could still be visible from underneath.

Is there a picture of the backside of a shield sigil?
