Any news if they will ever revisit a new Y-wing?
-
The interiors of MANY sets are empty because of the understanding that males build it and leave it whereas female collectors build and interact with it. I wished that the star wars designer would build the outside and let the Friend's design team build the inside. They would add all sorts of machinery, gears, on-board computers, seats etc that geeked out people like me would enjoy.

Is it just one minifigure in this set?????

Thx Maxsupercar. I can then confirm that the detachable part IS the base on the ground next to the volcano posted a few pages back (bottom right). There we see the same legs and even the interior and the walls supported by green technic bricks. No wonder the structure looks so strange and out of place :) I will try to mod so that the helicopter cabin can enter the lab as well :) Picture courtesy of user Klodsbrik :). Thank you for this picture.

Why is everyone excited about the inquisitor in the 100 dollar set when you can get him in a $35.00 tie advance?

Omg this summer wave is going to empty out my wallet these collectible animals and dragons... can't resist...and another castle.. I gotta say I LOVE that little blue dragon from the pegasus set.

Man, I can't wait! It's a good year with Nexo knight armor and elves scenery and dragons . I was surprised to see that most people voted for Skyra's Castle on brickset rather than the tree house. This will mean that if the Dragon queen gets a castle, fans will all be on it. I, personally, prefer the forest but oh wells

I started off with Nadia's set and ended up with the entire first and mini second wave. I'm going to be getting the entire 3rd wave for sure after obtaining the dragon from the pegasus sleigh set. It's strange how legoshop and Toysrus has it for $29.99 in the U.S but every other major retailer including target has it for $39.99. I don't understand how shops can have prices higher than the legoshop sometimes (did the legoshop backtrack on their pricing? All other retailers are priced higher). By the way, Farran's crystal hollow , Naida's spa resort, the magical bakery set, Aira's workshop, and even Naida's adventure ship are all on sale somewhere with major U.S brands. This probably hints that at least the first three mentioned are going to be phased out very soon (at least at target). Those who wanted multiples for MOCs or to expand their water world MOCs should act fast - they get real pricey once phased out. I realized something when putting the sleigh together that probably most of you already know, the mini doll proportions have great benefits in terms of saving space. You can sit two people side by side with a 4 wide brick. This can't be accomplished with regular minifigures as their shoulders are too fat. You'd have to use a jumper brick or go with 6 wide vehicles for the most part. I really like that this can be done with the taller elves figures. I can now make narrower carriages and vehicles that can fit 4 rather than 2. etc. Their height and differences in appearance also really make it more believable that they are elves far different from regular castle folk. Can't wait to see what comes this summer.

All I can say is that I never thought I'd actually like the elves line until I saw the resemblance it had to night elves in world of war craft and not to mention all mmorph games from companies like Nexon - they look like anime characters. The settings in all of these sets is what classic castle fans wanted for ages - elves and forest themes. Die hard fans will mine the entire theme for colors and pieces but truly die hard fans will implement the mini dolls into the existing world as the Lego Movie does. This line has to be one of the most creative and beautiful to date when given a proper chance. I really do hope they continue with the Elves line and focus on the whimsical elements of it. I was a bit scared seeing all the dragons as I prefer for them focus on the colors and forest elements. Having said that, there's no doubt in my mind that all these dragons will draw the ninjago fans out and further integration will only help this line out. I have my fingers cross that Friends will continue to expand and elves will go with it. The designers of the elves theme really really need to be congratulated for what they've done with Lego. It would have been inconceivable for me to imagine a line so rich with elements and colors just a few years ago. It brought Lego up a few notches.

this is totally off topic but I feel sad that lego designs regular lego sets with little detail comparedto the friends sets. It makes me feel like they are saying we are unsophisticated. I prefer the friends sets overall minus the dolls. Mia is my girl too bc she gives us good animal parts.

Why is LEGO now being made in China?
legobear replied to 9v system's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Quality doesnt slip when it is made in China. All things including high end tech such as iphones are made in China. The real fear is that we may see more copyright infringement or black market copies. US copies that want cheaper materials will get thise materials but China in itself doesnt equate to low quality. This can only happen if The Lego Group wants cheaper plastic and sends in cheaper plastic. -
You lit a bulb in my head in regards to types of restaurants in cities. I never even entertained an idea of a Chinese restaurant - though I really want that Chinese fast food container from The Big Bang Theory set. I realize that we do have a Parisian restaurant but wonder if other mainstream food cultures in the U.S, in particular, will ever be represented - Japanese Sushi / Chinese etc. I'd love to see fast food chains too, like the old Mc Donalds set : ) - this is highly controversial . So, I love the entire concept here. I have had the chance to visit China once and I have to say it reminds me of Beijing more than Shanghai as Beijing in my opinion has more of the ancient feel and really fights to preserve that image whereas Shanghai looks like futuristic China. You captured the hectic frenzy often seen in these types of establishments where food delivery time and taste is often the focal point. In particular, I love the classic look of the blue car. This could fit with Ninjago easily as well since that theme is a mixed of what appears to be Chinese / Japanese / Korean cultures in smorgasbord. The details in this set are Awesome! I love the pieces used for the buns - the whole thing with the electrical cables reminds me of the early 1900s worldwide.

I would purchase this for $200.00 at 50 pieces x 30 days. You definitely need to put this up on Ideas to be voted on. I love your builds here. They pack great play for the price parts. It doesnt over do it with useless pieces and doesnt lack in play features either.

True. Lotr had lots of fantastic elements in its own right as well. I think this is good for native themes. This will hopefully inspire Lego to be more creative with Castle. Given that these are the core themes, they do tend to shy away from making them overly complex as well.

Deathleech, I think you may have contradicted yourself. You stated, "People blame LotR or hate it because they think it kept them from getting Castle stuff, but I don't know if that is necessarily true." Then, you said, "With that in mind I am totally fine with Castle taking a back seat. I mean who cares if you don't get Castle stuff a few years? you will eventually, and you will get lots more." I own lots of Middle Earth sets. I don't hate LOTR. I simply understand why we didn't get elves. Castle in 2007+ was trying to be Lord of the Rings without being a full rip off of it. Once they signed a deal to do the franchise though, they WERE LOTR. It is without a doubt it stunted the company's own home grown castle-lotr-look-alike. It doesn't mean people here hate LOTR.

I hope it doesn't look too scary. I tend to stay away from scaring looking minifigs - reason why I didn't buy the haunted house. I prefer cute + mean looking which gives an overall positive vibe even in bad guy factions.

I second theTang22 on this one. Back in 2009, the forum was buzzing with "news" about elves as well. In fact, we had a box art that featured elven ears so it was safe to assume they were coming except.... a couple months later..... Lord of the Rings blew the entire theme of Lego inspired elves away. Lego never recovered after that. It was wave after wave of Lord of the Rings, leaving Lego Castle back in its infancy again. The subsequent waves would lack the creative elements, figures, and molds found from Lego Castle in 2007. We all hope for elves and Lego definitely has the molds for them - I just wish they would start to use them for Lego Castle.

They've gotten so good at keeping their lips sealed - it's amazing. Just look at at the whole new Big Bang Theory set... or the ferris wheel set. I miss the good ole days when we were able to get info much earlier : ).

Classic castle fans thought the black falcon knights were coming back bc of the joust set but they never did. We thought elves would be introduced following 2007 but it never happened either and count the years.. Maybe 2016?? Wow times flies! Lego simply pays homage to the sets in order to get more parents interested in buying the sets. Parents will buy the set thinking that if they did, their kids will also relive those fabulous times they had with Lego :) Futuron sets.

Omg this is beautiful . I love the integration of Duplo, Friends, and everything together. It really demonstrates the harmony between the different themes/brand. I hope Lego will add more complexity to "boy's" sets as well. Why does Friends get all the new animals, and all the dining ware with forks, spoons, spatula, baking pan, mixer, and boys are left to wrenches and handcuffs is sad. Isn't this just reverse sexism?? Males can have complexity as well, but there really is no comparison when looking at a Friends' inspired MOC when you realize the choices for animals for a zoo, at least for boys if they stick to non-Friends sets, is very extremely limited. Anyways, I digress. I went over the pictures meticulously looking at the details. You're a creative genius - super uber MOC! With a thousand thumbs up

Imperial Flagship ALL the way!!

I own a couple of those sets. The 4207 was notorious for being priced ridiculously. All the sets mentioned were also well below 1,600 pieces too. There's a huge difference between comparing sub 1,000 piece set to City Square. I know it isn't popular to voice about price per piece. Cheers and happy buying.

Of course pieces are priced differently but ..... 700 pieces less is substantial. I don't think anyone would agree that this Summer is 1.) cheaper 2.) priced similar to 2015 price patterns. If inflation is the main point here, then it's some interesting inflation from Spring to Summer. Don't get me wrong. I'm a loyal fan but I smell a price hike when I see one. If you NEED this set then, definitely get it. Otherwise, you're much better off with Kwik E Mart, Ferris Wheel, Mixer, Detective's Office and on and on it goes. I honestly wouldn't be surprise if they did this because of limited time/shipping. They KNOW only X amount of people will buy it and that's fine because they can't make enough of it anyways without back log and going out of order. They can only supply to the top 25% so they probably just focus on that main market of people. So, why not just hike it as high as it's almost palatable for those willing enough to shell out - leaving the rest to buy the "cheaper" (barely any of the city sets are cheaper in summer) sets for higher prices. When you're left to compare a large yatch to a lambourghini, all of a sudden the lambo looks awfully "cheap" I call that Lego genius.

I completely pass on this train as I already have the yellow train. I don't think it's a turn off because it's European - I think it's a novelty. I think what turns people off is that it's the same exact train - literally copy and paste - from 3677. The digger is duplo-ish, but the helicopter is just ok. I like the hopper. The only thing I want from that set is the train tracks.

What's the deal with the City Square. It's ridiculous at $189.00 (plus tax is $204) for 1683 pieces. That comes out to be around 12 cents per piece. The problem here is that the overpriced parts are multiplied by 1 6 8 3 pieces! If you calculate that price per piece over 10 cents per piece, you are losing $33.00 or gaining a 16% HIKE in prices. That's a true rip off when you compare that to the Ferris Wheel. Ferris wheel being at 2464 pieces totaling $215 with tax included. That is only 8 cents per piece. You get more than 700 pieces for the same price. Lego knows it will sell because markets have shown that Germany and the U.S buy out city sets the most. However, all the city sets are priced at a ridiculous rate for Summer. I think they are testing the U.S market and seeing if Americans will bite. If Americans bite into it, I forecast European-like prices to follow. This is good for Lego but bad for consumers, as well as those who like to sell on the secondary market like bricklink because now you must sell at a higher price point for fewer pieces which means you must sell more sets than you use to in order to make money or break even.
