  1. I really want them to release a new Holiday Train running PF : ). It would drain all of our pockets and seriously do them good as well :). I forget when rumours come out for winter sets - was this usually around the end of Summer?
  2. Go Eneloops for sure! If anything were to happen to those batteries, you simply replace them. I suggest La Crosse chargers b/c you can charge / discharge, recondition, and test each battery separately. Eneloops should be reconditioned every 20 uses or so in order to erase "memory". If you don't do this, and you recharge batteries before depleting them, the batteries will develop memory and act as though their half depleted charge is now the FULL charge since you always recharge when they are half depleted rather than completely depleted. This 1. kill the life of the battery 2. give you a weaker battery. Go with La Crosse or other high end chargers that reconditions automatically and run into charging mode for you. I love Lipo batteries as I am an avid flyer. However, after all my years I know you need to take serious precaution with them. I've made batteries that work like a charm and others that balloon to the point of catching fire so be careful. One wrong drop of a lipo can set a house on fire.
  3. Nice reviews zussamengebout and just2good. I would love to see the next releases reviewed of the sea sets and the space sets here too : ). I like the female scientist a lot but I don't know if I want the entire set just for her. I would have preferred that they make a new astronaut suit mold - they keep reusing the same molds and they are ugly. In the divers set, I prefer the new prints on the torsos but I prefer the vehicles of the older sets, they looked more rustic.
  4. I remember being a kid at Target looking at the Transcon myself. I never got it until several years back and it's absolutely beautiful. In my opinion, it's THE BEST shuttle ever made because it requires minimal pieces, looks clean, and functions fully without giant plastic molded pieces - the wheels even swivel and they are tiny and petite compared to what we have now. The transcons also has room for two pilots and tools in compartments to repair things - it's one of my favorite sets of that era. Every time Lego produces a small airplane, I purchase them now b/c of how much I loved their planes in the 90s. Your airport is beautiful - I'd love to have those base plates again.
  5. I think I found the source for why we have the Ferris Wheel this year and also why we had the Mixer last year. The caption in the videos say that it's by Jamie Berard. I hope to see the other of his three designs in future Lego releases for amusement parks *fingers crossed* (click to 11 seconds in the 1st video). We should have a ride like Psycho Mouse. A belt takes it up, and gravity drives the rest. Using power functions, it'll be an endless ride. It'll be similar to those penguin race toys.
  6. I think I found the source for why we have the Ferris Wheel this year and also why we had the Mixer last year. The caption says that it's by Jamie Berard. If it is made by him, then we may see the other three of his designs to the left of the first video in the future *fingers crossed* (click to 11 seconds in the 1st video). Can someone confirm this?
  7. Before buying the HE, I had thought that I'd love electric model trains. After buying the set, I realize that I prefer older trains. I rather much Lego stuck to making diesel or steam - preferably steam engines : ). This is coming from a guy that loves riding the bullet trains. I really hope Lego incorporate a new updated Holiday train for 2015 or 2016. It would really excite the base I think and get consumers into trains as well as push sales for winter sets and their power functions.
  8. Can't wait to see that review. To Lago, you kept those images long enough :P. The one thing I don't like about the undersea station is that it doesn't have glass to separate the inside from the outside where the docking station is - it's like he's simply breathing through gills or something.
  9. I just broke the same thing. Be really careful because i never thought it would happen but you could even break off the small pin hole in the locomotives plate with this kind of accident - not simply a 30 cent piece alone. The pin hole remains but the circular piece encompassing the underside of the locomotive plate can crack in two - it's functional but looks awful.
  10. TAFOL and phz2000, thank you guys . You guys are amazing for getting these for us. The set looks brilliant and I'm so happy to know we can optionally install a power function. I believe I can see the crank on the bottom right of one of the images. I really can't wait to add this to my collection. It really put a whole positive atmosphere in a city full of police officers
  11. The mixer is probably one of the best sets in Lego history. That's for certain. I would like to see more images of the Ferris wheel though. I know it's going to be released in two weeks or so but why so secretive Wish we could get some more images of it.
  12. Thank you Wodanis for the picture. It's great to see it in all of its glory. I can't see a power function on it though, does it mean it's not going to be there? Also, TEN minifigures!? Whoa. This is going to be lovely !!!
  13. I think it's gorgeous ! I'm happy with the power function (looks like it has it). The colors and flowers really reflect a Spring mood. My best guess is that this is going down in history as one of the must haves in a town center piece - the fair . My only gripe is going to be the scary price $$$ .
  14. Great pictorial review. I love how many photos you took - it shows off the model very well. I think your mod is great. You closed all the escape hatches so that the prisoner can't run away : ). Why are mods always better than the actual product? : ) The sliding doors are awesome.
  15. Aint it 4433 and not 4435??
  16. Does anyone know what the knight in the smallest set is wearing? (the guy pushing the cart). I can't make out which of the three new printings he has on.
  17. OH MY GOD !!! Octan F1 Transporter!?!? Is Lego trying to give his their fan base a heart attack!? That's the craziest nicest set I've ever ever ever seeen!! Holy moly this one already screams priceless. Talk about delivering everything any Lego collector has ever wanted. A city set that's totally out there and an idea that's completely new. An F1 car sponsored by Octan holy moles!!!!!! tears of joy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's literally screaming PLAY WITH ME!!!! It's transporter! It's a mobile mechanic station! It's a race car holder! It's all unified around prepping up an F1 car. It's genius !!!!! Oh and they add a new piece !!!!!! woooooow !!!!! lightning tiger I love you hahahahahah thanks for the pics !!!
  18. After spewing volcanic ash about the sets for awhile there are redeeming features with the close-up vid shots (thanks! ) At least the new knights armor looks good and I never had a problem with the whole lion face. The baddie with the skittle knight helmet has to go though...yuck!!!! It's sad he's going to be part of the smallest set so that'll just mean I have to replace his ugly helmet. The coloration does make these knights stand out and I think that's a really good thing. Perhaps once we have the armies up and running side by side, they'll shine. I think these new shots will turn things around a bit for this line that's getting all bashed in from all sides from me included .
  19. Those guys might have fangs but I don't think they are vampire. I think one guy pointed something out and then everyone "saw" it. Then suddenly people are crying "vampire!" . I really think TLG is trying to make the dragon faction as "evil" looking as possible to the point of entirely giving up on their aesthetics. There is huge disappointment in this line and I do think it's warranted. Firstly, the falcon knights were the last "new" factions featured in 10223 Kingdom Joust. Why tempt us with that one figure to uphold the entire faction to not continue with it? Joust should have been Dragons Vs Lions if they never intended to revive it. That was terrible marketing that caused much confusion in the core fan base. Adding insult to injury, not only are they NOT delivering the falcons as shown in 10223 Kingdom Joust, they will sell EXACTLY THE SAME FACTIONS you bought a year or two ago. It just screams complacency and overall carelessness.
  20. What happened to the Bullet Helms? Remember these bullet helms? I think they totally lost a great opportunity to reinvent Castle with bullet helms. We've had too many infantry with neck protectors already. Dear god stop making these cheek protectors . All the baddies wear these They're hideous looking and don't look well with anything. I think archers should have bullet helms like this
  21. Interesting - looks like the headphones work like minifigure plumes then? Nice line this year man but god being a consumer is killing all my space T____T. Never would have thought that space mattered more than money spent : /.
  22. I pray and pray these are prelims. It's a step back from 2007 AND Kingdoms for sure. Huge supporter of Castle here and hugely disappointed. However, one good thing is that the pieces are good and the blue scheme looks good. Otherwise, I want to throw some minifigures at whoever designed Castle for 2013 . The red knights look too evil and too awful. I dislike the evil vs good thing as a whole but ahhh it's for kids. Always teaching kids "we" are good and "others" are evil c'mon Lego . What's with the overkill on the knight with the crown print? Wrong faction there . I'll be going for the minifigures I want to accumulate and that's about it for this year .
  23. With the support of you guys interested in the sets, they're going to be making nicer and nicer sets I'm really happy about that. I'm extremely excited about the new sets coming out and I'm so glad that Lego listened to us regarding the battle packs that we've always wanted. The Forest Ambush set in a way offers what us battle pack fans want - lots of figures within a small box to build massive armies. The 2007 line had three minifigures (skeleton in one) and the 2013 small set will have 4 ! That's amazing ! ! That's Lego following exactly what many of us have been saying on these forums. It's not a true battle pack but it comes close enough for me so I'm totally stoked. I guess I'm too in love with the Castle line for further criticism here - I really love the new sets coming out and will continue to follow the line as it continues grow and continue : ) ! It IS peculiar in a way to have two lion factions side by side and two dragon factions side by side though so somehow that's all gotta work out in our heads but having said that, I'm still very happy !!! To AlphaQuad and 09holded, thanks so much for the new info !! You guys are awesome!
  24. You got a good point there true true true. Couldn't they down size it a bit though? Perhaps in the style of pet shop . It was so small and cozy. Of course none of these discussions will change the cinema that's in its finalized form but I do believe that TLG reads these discussion forums for a general consensus for what fans like and they typically run towards that direction for future sets. Therefore, I'm going to rant for a bit . It seems like TLG designed the set to appeal more to our initial reaction than to the true play-ability of it all. On first glance it's so amazing, but when you get down to the play features it's very empty. It helps to get the consumer to put it in the cart (important), but what about making sure that consumers really enjoy the set and will want to come back for more? (more important). Also, you guys recall how when they unveil new sets, they always talk about the new features and the new direction in which they wanted to add to the modular line? I felt that was seriously lacking in this one. Was it just bad PR? What's going on?? For the Pet Shop, Jamie's whole purpose was to break down the blocky-ness of the series and so he opted for two full sized buildings that were attachable with a total of 8 walls - something new which made Pet Shop so unique. The Town Hall also by Astrid was designed to look grand and imposing and she states that as a central point in the set. Every design element from the little flowers on the windows to the tall windows drove that point home. How about the Cinema? I didn't really get a sense that they really really gave it their all What was the purpose? It's so similar to Grand Emporium as well (aside from the fact that it's a corner building). Cafe Corner was both a cafe AND a hotel - slam dunk! Just excellent. I feel a lil down about this set - but as with all of you here I'm getting it LOL.
  25. Ah a Canadian! My mistake . Astrid's work on the Town Hall really showed off her ability to implement "complex" structures using Lego Bricks. The Town Hall has so much empty space yet it's so structually complicated with the auditorium, elevator (with a door from the back), mini offices, conference room and how you can look down to the 1st floor from the 2nd and 3rd floor. There is almost no comparison with that level of architectural genius to what we see in the cinema. As she stated, there was an initial concept designer for this. I'm not faulting the concept designer because I think the Cinema is nice, but it doesn't show Astrid's full abilities I think. I think if she designed the concept and built it herself, it would have been totally something else. Is Lego just trying to save time???? Half the work given to someone else for the concept design and half the work given to Astrid to implement into bricks? I really really really hope this is not a strategy to save on time. I prefer the method used in designing the Town Hall where she herself did the intensive research. It is a monumental amount of work to load it all on one designer but in the end you get to see the personality of the person reflected in the final set. The Cinema to me looks like it is a hallowed out building renovated by a genius designer . Man does it show.... once you finish buying tickets on the 1st floor, and sit on the 2nd floor for the movie... there's not THAT much play left with the building . Count the number of rooms done by Jamie with the Pet Shop and Astrid with the Town Hall -anyone can see the HUGE difference in complexity of the structures. With those sets, I could tinker with them for hours . Both of those sets had tons of play features spanning room after room after room after room. The cinema is cursed with simplicity. Everyone here seems to be right on that bandwagon of criticism given the number of people that wanted a separate room for the projector as well (that could have been so easily done I agree). I hope TLG takes this into consideration and continues to innovate and stay high on their quality standards. If not, they'll have to re-read the postings on this forum again
