Does anyone know how we can get these promos sets? I have not been able to get any promo sets at all in the last 2-3 years of collecting and I live in California. Anyone have any advice :(, I want these.
-
Is this for sale? I hope some of you guys actually this your MOCs for sale. I want one of these so bad. Our designers sometimes can completely demolish hired Lego Designers in my opinion. I hope no one takes that into offense. People here at Eurobricks like you are amazing builders.

So who is correct? Is it going to $50 or is it going to $80? Anyone? I LOVE planes and am dying to know o_o

I don't really like the Knight as much as I want to. I think his antique looking bronze "gold-ish" armor makes him seem like a weaker knight compared to the original shiny silver helms. I'd love to make him captain but he looks "cheap" as it's more bronze than gold. I wish he was instead metallic. Secondly, if I had to choose between having only bronze knights and the originals I have right now, I'd pick the ones I have in no time. Sorry guys, I'm not knocking this set at all. I think the price is quite descent I guess, the minifigs are excellent!! Beyond excellent. I just think this knight could have been worked a little better given the geniuses we have at LEGO. Having said that, I applaud them for creating an inner garment front and back!! As well as decorating from top to bottom of the knight, a single bronze color. Excellent in overall printing. I just would have changed the color and printing. No matter how critical I am of the knight, the DOUBLE print heads, FRONT-BACK printing of torsos and some legs make this OUTSTANDING. This shows lego at its very best when it cares heavily for its fans and what they demand. I gave it a straight 5/5. Finally, thank you mafia for reviewing this : ))))

Thank you for the review Kanal. I agree with what you said: "For AFOLs , like me, I think no need to buy. Even if this set will be not expensive, I am bit fed up of all those Build Theme sets. Even as a parts source no need to buy." I resist buying the new sets because although they are fantastic looking, many times when you build these sets up you realize how little it takes to mold a particular portion (as they come prefabbed). Sometimes I feel ripped off, I don't know if I"m buying Legos are any other ordinary toy that requires a little assembly. It is as though they've taken the bricks out of Legos, literally. What I do love is the plane in Peril in Peru. If these new sets looked more like that, with more bricks I'll grab 'em in a second. But as an AFOL I'm turned off, as much as I want to buy it I know I won't enjoy it after building it.

You know I think TLG is justified for making the pizza and bike shop different from the standards of Cafe Corner and Green Grocer. I figured that they needed to liven up their new fan base and not solely focus on AFOLs. These new sets will allow the younger generation to also enjoy civilian shops because begging your dad or mom to shell out around $150 USD is not reasonable if even possible for many. Lowering the piece count, and lowering the price will give others a chance to play with something novel. Building up this fan boy allows for more Cafe/Grocer standard sets to come out in future years as well. I say smart move. We will have a 3rd installment of those CC style buildings anyways : ).

Thank you guys for the pictures and information : ) The camper is hands out the best out of the three in my opinion in terms of artistic execution and functionality The garage we've seen worked to death already, just another giant airy place for cars. Not bad, would anyone who already has one get another one? The Pizza shop isn't bad. I had the image of cafe corner or green grocer in my mind the whole time as someone has compared it to those but c'mon...it's no Cafe Corner or Green Grocer (look at the piece count and probably the price that will come out soon). Having said that, it'll probably be a pretty nice set in its own set-category. I will probably get it

2009 Ferrari Victory set 8768 in my local store! (Not the Tiny Tur
legobear replied to Dennimator's topic in LEGO Licensed
The mix of fleshy and yellow heads cause me to believe that someone......someone didn't really care when designing this set. That being said, I do like this set because of all the real world companies sponsored on the stickers, however, I agree that it shouldn't be stickers. Does anyone know if these heads are just recycled heads from speed racer. -
Ultraman, Merry Christmas, omg I want to kiss you I have some questions though. 1.) how wide is the camper? 6-wide? 4-wide? 2.) Is it trailing something behind? Or is a car actually tugging it? Or is it a car in itself?
-
I love the classic 4 wide vehicles as well as I think they are cuter, compact, and easier to store and pull out to play. I also love the new vehicle's look - but that's it. It can't be easily stored, so i wonder if Lego took that into consideration, they can't sell as much as fans can store, and if they say that they only care about the fan base (which they do) then they should take it onto consideration. I don't mind up-scaling to 6-wide vehicles, so as long as they can house 2 MFs. But 6-wide Lego vehicles can't do so efficiently, so why go 6 wide, in this case go 8-wide. I dislike sets that can't function as they look. When I see this new transport (though it looks nice) I am hesitant about the space it takes up providing the fact that it can't hold 2 minifigs inside, and plus a lot of the elements are heavily recycled, as in the helicopter pointed earlier, and the flat bed housing the helicopter. I would rather down scale something while adding more elements to it, similar to selling one plane when you can sell 2 planes and a hot dog stand for the same price and functionality. Going bigger is a product of affluence though sadly.

The Best Value in a LEGO Set This Season
legobear replied to WarnIcarus's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I love what you've done here Icarus. I know a lot of people try to do the brick per piece count but it's not really calibrated with a standard measurement of sets that are currently released- so thank you for this. It would be nice if Eurobricks could incorporate this into a feature on the site, and constantly update and each set is released in order to show consumers here what is the wisest purchase. However, part of me thinks that some people on this site have the insider scoop with Lego and something like that may not happen? I don't know. In either case, I am surprised that that big ferry boat thing has the best price per piece count, makes me want to get it actually : ) ! So there is a positive in figuring it all out. As with the police plane, I think everyone above a child's age can sort of tell lego just threw that one together without too much thinking. However, to see that it is about 20 cents per piece is OMG.... that's like three times the price of an expensive bricklink piece (love you bricklink). Some people really claim to buy all lego sets, which is quite amazing. I don't think it's necessarily smart for the consumer to purchase everything, since affluence is deadly in this current day and age. We're driving up the prices of things as we consume more and more now, instead of having those prices go down when we had abundance resources. At this rate of consumption, and the population of consumers tripling in the next 12 years, Lego costs won't go down - not until plastic becomes really hard to get. I hope Lego can also jump onto the bandwagon of making toys with biodegrable plastics : ) you know, plastic made of corn. -
Quite sadly Skinny, this set is the Air-Race set, that's my best guess based on the item #. Sorry for the confusion. Indy will also have a plane set though, that one i'm sure about 100%, it has not come out yet.
-
It's ok, Air Race is also being released and it'll probably be of the same type of design or style : ) thank you Lego
-
Why does Lego make all these promos x_x. I blame the airline companies . Love all plane sets, I wish I could have one. I hate buying the super mark up prices on promos boo.

I couldn't agree more. If TLC goes just as strong with Castle as with Pirates, most consumers would choose one over the other which equals a great loss in revenue. However, if you release two different themes each with sets $100+ it justifies buying $100 here , $100 there, $40 here, and $40 there etc. It also keeps the old concept viable and not worn out. Why did I all of a sudden wanted a Pirate ship? I'm not a pirate guy (great sets though). Simply because my wallet itches and I'm tired of waiting for Castle. Star Wars on the other hand can become its own product completely based on the amount of money made on that license alone, so it does not count in this equation. You can put out $200+ sets, $300 sets, $100 sets, $150 sets all combined in one SW theme at the same time, and it will be bought guarantee w/o fear of the market's rejection.

Thanks for updating it I have a hard time choosing between 9 and 11. I love the imperial knight barding because I use to have one and it gives me great memories of playing with it (my bro gave away my Legos, for a good cause though). I liked it also for the fact that it almost looks like some sort of white leopard skin with the spots and all. I have to say that I also enjoy the Lightning Knight as well except for one huge, huge, let down.............it should have been the main barding with Castle for 2007 and 2008. This barding is awfully difficult to acquire in masses. Since I bought the Castle I only have 1...which means I use it for my king when he is suppose to be riding horses with the golden bardings instead. Once I saws bardings on last year's theme, I made sure to snatch them up quickly as they become very expensive when the sets are no longer in production. I hope Lego will continue making them in the next line as well, I can't wait to see what's next. By the way, I voted for the royal knights :) I wish lego would make sword holders more sturdy, those things break easily!!! Lego should know by now to use softer plastic there X_X, that's just my two cents. Seriously, a barding with a broken sword holder is sad.

Thank you Klig, now I get it finally, as this term has been popping up everywhere

Great thorough review, it was very enjoyable. One question, what exactly is SNOT? Another one actually.....what then is a SNOT technique???
-
Love the poll, one suggestion though. I want to vote but I can't match the names to the bardings. I know you added references like (crown knights) but not everyone can be certain they are voting a swift knight's barding or not. Furthermore, the others are confusing as well x_x. Add images to them? or somehow number them? I hope this helps.

Which is mightier - Black Seas Barracuda OR Brickbeard's Bounty?
legobear replied to Captain Zuloo's topic in LEGO Pirates
The comparisons are bias to begin it, you all know it, especially you die-hard classic pirate fans, and those who are embracing the new sets as well. Look, those who are die hard fans love the BSB, no new topic needed. Those who aren't so dedicated fans to the BSB, are open to change, that's a given. I'm more interested in this.. IF YOU HAD TO BUY ONE NOW, and BOTH WERE ON SALE AND YOU HAD TO PICK ONE AND ONE ONLY, WHICH WOULD YOU CHOOSE? Given what I said, Kudos to you guys in this forum, especially those who are in favor of the BSB and are critisizing the BB. I think your criticisms show that you guys have taste for high quality but more importantly it shows LEGO that they have room to improve. Try doing this in a Castle forum and you will be bashed by all sides, and have your mega block butt served to you, as the young ones are die-hard fans of the new King's Castle, so they don't take criticism lightly. What's a forum without criticism? LEGO would be lost without you guys. I don't care so much for who wins the vote, you guys kick butt in this forum -
Thank you for this Questionaiire, very helpful! I have one criticism though. This is targetted for AFOLs right? Then why would we have to rank questions such as "Price is too high" or "Target AFOLs more" into one questionaiire? If you think about it closely, this is targetted for AFOLs so what is important is pricing, not "Target AFOLs more" - this question should not exist. If you rank this ahead of pricing it says that I don't care about pricing as much, just give me the darn products (but Lego will do this anyways). Lego knows there is a huge market, they just don't know how much to spend on this market or how much to demand in pricing. If we don't rank "price is too high" as priority, they will release things that are Death Star pricing which marginalizes some AFOLs like me. That's just my two cents. p.s of course I picked Eurobricks as my top pick, you guys always have new info FAST! plus you guys don't censor as heavily as Classic-Castle in terms of new products. I love classic-castle to death but jeez, all the information is classic X_X !!! no pun intended.

I had this set as a child, I loved it so much! I remember the warm comfy feeling of putting him inside the tree trunk or having him take a drink and practice his magic spells. I also remember shaking those little jewels inside the barrel. Because of your review I decided to purchase a MISB of this set once again because my brother gave away all of my Lego sets : (.

I'm looking forward to 2009 and I will buy the King's chariot for sure. Looking at those pre-lim drawings of elves, I wasn't too satisified. Elves are suppose to have long ears. So, whether or not they are cut I won't be too sad, but of course if TLC delivered, I'm definitely buying. I, too, want those bullet helms back, I would get a lot! there are only two things that would make me cry in the up-coming years. 1.) Return of the Rainbow Knights (KK barf) 2.) Ending Castle for awhile

Buy 2009 LEGO Pirates from S@H or Toys R Us
legobear replied to General Armendariz's topic in LEGO Pirates
A 50 yr old man and his son bought out the ENTIRE PIRATE sets, about 30+ sets. He stocked it all on a kart and when I passed him, I asked," Where do you get these sets" and he simply blurted, "They're all gone!" I love the sale idea and all but this is sad His son asked the sales associate when the next batch would come, and the dude said tomorrow 12-2-08. They're going to be back and they will most likely do it again, then sell it all online or bricklink somehow. I think this is kind of messed up and TRU should set some serious limits like nothing over 20+ sets a day per customer. Otherwise how are normal people and fans going to get some freak'n sets?? SO MEAN. -
This is such a wonderful thing you guys are doing
