    City '09?

The sets are alright..... I give it a 7/10 overall. The farm as everyone has stated is too simplistic with the bare bones amount of bricks to make it look "cluttered." I think they should have gone with the direction of some of our greatest MOCers by adding a carrot field (8x8 carrots) or a corn field or tall grasses that need to be cut. Throw in a smaller tractor to take away from the loss of using so many pieces while leaving the barn and stable looking rather naked. On top of that add the Silo, farm equipment, and animals. However, I give TLC huge props for coming up with farming sets because many people have been waiting such a long time for a breath of fresh air in their city products. That construction site with the modular building looks like a real apartment building in Tokyo where the actual structure itself is movable like lego pieces. I can imagine putting in living amenities as though they are small "on-the-go" apartments. This set is one of the highlights for me. The horse stable is nice but too simplistic in a sense. It looks too darn real too 0_o I never thought I would say something like that. The equestrian rider however, wow, fabulous. All the other tractors are HUGE. Given all this emphasis on tractors, TLC needs to provide something to mow down. I thought that there would be a camper of some sort. I really want some happy fun sets like a trailer or a camper with a bike. I also would have welcomed a small sized plane for 2009 just like that mini postal plane in 2008. Planes sell well, and I will cont. buying them, each and everyone of them, so please TLC continue that one up as well : ). Thanks for all the wonderful new sets, I hope they are a big hit!
  2. Please count me in as well! These are one of my favorite-ist sets. I know those big sets are always great, but there's something about small sets that have a special place in my heart. I saw the promo for 2007's mini boat and I've always wanted one. Being an official coast guard set makes it even better
  3. The site is in Chinese. I second what Adam said about Whung. Whung has posted several things like this in the past, and although I was skeptical, he never fails to deliver. I'd be pretty surprised if this isn't real. I'm very very excited about this, I want those pirate sets back!!! 2009 Pirates ON!
  4. Shouldn't this be in the front page news? Having it hidden here, will take at least a week for anyone to notice. I think it's silly to have them put 4 dwarves here since that would total the count to 12 figures instead of 9. There is a possibility that there could be 12 figures and 12 "mini sets" that go with the figures to equal the 24 gifts as stated on the box but that could only happen if dwarves don't really count as minifigs thereby canceling out "9 minifigures" on the box as well. Either way, all of the other six sets shown are sets on their own, it's strange to see the advent calendar "falsely" advertised in this sense. If I were a kid, I'd be disappointed I guess.....as I would be buying it at the store and figuring out by the pieces it's not what was shown on the magazine/net.
  5. Holy unreal........look at those roof top pieces.... It's not the forbidden city per se right? It's more like a building in it? Not so great with my history, but I'm guessing it's the great hall of...... *forgot* x_x.

    City 2009

A bank? Never going to happen. A farm? Get real. A Zoo? Hahahaha........ next joke..... As for the impulse line, won't happen. These already have their niche in the market....the advent calendars. If they sell you an icecream man, then what's the icecream lady going to do for 2008's advent calendar? Just as mini creator sets are designed to get you to buy BIG creator sets, Impulse Sets are designed to get you to buy the REAL BIG sets, not a theme on their own. Can we all talk about what we would expect to see?? Since they are done with 2009 anyways?
  7. I thoroughly enjoyed your review Metalandi, thank you especially for taking photos of all the contraptions and detailing exactly how they work. As a member of classic-castle, the census always seemed to be that fright knights were a class 4/10 or 6/10 but as Sandy stated above, it is one of the closest you can get to an evil faction. By today's standards, the contraptions seen here are much much more sophisticated and well thought out and are definitely missing in 2007's King's Castle Siege. I enjoy the design of this castle much more even if the towers are taller simply because the design in the King's Castle Siege left builders with an empty space right in the courtyard without even a base plate! AND it's nearly impossible to get your hands in and play in the enclosed space (why would anyone unless you're simply posing figs, and even that was difficult). This Castle instead, had a variety of trap doors and surprises, so despite the varied colors used here, it's not that hard to realize that the designers for this Castle really took time to think things out and tried to make the Castle enjoyable for the children that will play with it whereas our 2007 Castle was strictly built to give kids the impression of an enormous magnificant Castle with little to nothing inside. It's like comparing beauty (2007) to brains (this castle).
  8. Looks very cool. I wonder how the dual swords stay behind his back like that.
  9. I'm uncertain about what castle it is, but it isn't a bonus stage, it's part of the main story I find the game so hilarious with all the tid bits of Lego humour in the levels I caught myself laughing my way through the game. Another thing I found last night was a cutlass sword that some of us have in our collections. I haven't found most of the things in the game though, and there are a ton of characters I have yet to unlock so I'll get back to it
  10. I think some of you Hardcore Castle Fans will appreciate this. Here are some pics of Castle 2007s Great Crown Knight (Lego Indiana Jones for the Nintendo DS). If you look at the background, you'll also see the hugely popular Black Falcons emblem 2007 was one of the best years for Lego Castle, so I'm very happy to share this with you all. If you guys are interested in how to obtain him, you have to beat the last level on the Last Crusade (stage 6) and pay 350,000 Lego Studs. Have fun!! In case the server is down, you can check the pics out at my brickshelf folder. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=330388
  11. 400?? Half a thousand dollars!?!? I can't afford it x_x. If i didn't have to count my money when buying food, I'd buy this set but it's out of my league. I love the set, it's a wonderful set even though it's not affordable. 20 minifigs x $5.00 on bricklink may be cheaper though if you don't need the death star or can mod one yourself. Lovely set though : )
  12. Klause, your ideas are good, but remember it means nothing if we don't tell an ambassador. Ambassadors have the job of relying the message to LEGO. This has been tried Klause, many of the things you listed have been brought up, and shot down because kids don't want it. Last year, there was an interview, with the guy that told us about the new advent calendar, he said that they were trying out modular houses or buildings, and the kids didn't enjoy it as much. This is why I think what Asuka says is so important, or else we'll be shot down time after time with the reply "kids aren't interested in it" Listen to what Asuka says...."o, I really think that it should be possible to unite both aspects.... Why not make a set with a neat tavern and some plundering Skellies, or a nice little farm house attacked by a dragon and defended by a Royal Knights catapult crew?" If we want some change with these cart sets, we NEED to tell the ambassadors fine! Kids won't play with a tavern, then tell LEGO put a tavern in with some sort of action element, an attack on the tavern etc. This way, LEGO won't put our ideas down for being too adult, and the kids are happy. This IS THE ONLY WAY, unless all kids become adult fans of LEGO in the next day. Please rely the message to the ambassadors, Let's try unite "both aspects" as Asuka puts it for the next sets to come. Who are the ambassadors by the way????
  13. I really have no idea..... what is putting me off is the price mark up for stuff. Dwarves mine was 50, now it is 60, people say but HEYYY it's a special edition at a special price!! I say no, they sell it depending on what you can put out, not at a "special price." Then u have the new space factory set that goes on sale everywhere else but the US. Then...............they go on and say forget marking up the price, we'll just cancel the sales in the US as well, and so we dont' get the good wizard no matter what price we pay. Seems to me like everything is marked up. I remember back then, the debates about how expensive the impulses were............now with everything in the mid $60+ no one really cares anymore, its a norm now, a norm that they have set up. What gives???????
  14. The highlights should ALWAY be good guys right? I think that's where LEGO has gone wrong this year. When in the history of Legos did the evil faction dominate the good guys? Why not Call it ORCS a separate theme altogether. There, u rightly supplement it with measely dwarves. Give 'em a dwarves mine as a special edition, and it all fits in in the theme of ORCS, not castle. My biggest gripe is this, lots and lots and lots of people want dwarves. If bricklink wasn't so expensive selling pieces like one dollar beards, $1 short legs (good luck trying to find 12 of them at this price), $1 helmets etc. I wouldn't be so sad.......cuz I know most people say forget it LEGO, bricklink speaks to me, not you. But bricklink is too expensive for dwarf pieces now, so I'm not biting. Lego won't put out mainly dwarves sets, god knows why (besides $60 dollars for 4 dwarves)!!! Did they seriously seriously think they will make MORE money by selling ORCs than regular castle factions like the crowned knights? When we're all done collecting we're going to have like a TON of ORCs...too many for my liking. I prefer 2007, when u can get TWO good guys and one skeleton (good versus bad) for 5.99. Now, u can get 2 ORCs (bad versus good) with one dwarf for $9.99. Did they jack up the price? Who wants a bunch of mine defenders, 10 dwarves for $100 dollars. I aint biting this year, I'm disappointed, I LOVE LOVE fantasy, drive it all on me, but just sell me the line following a guideline where you sell what fans want, the dwarves. Highlight the heroes, sell those as the main thing. At least they have the advent calendar right, dear god ($30 dollars though hahaahah price went up). OHHHHH and for the elves.......please just sell the elves in 2009....mainly sell the elves not an ORC elf or something. Finally, please sell at least two elves per pack, don't repeat the mine defender. Change 2009 back into Good versus Evil.
  15. I likee that dwarf idea a LOT. I WANT the copper helm. Please please please LEGO do not make a winged silver/gold helmet for the dwarf impulse set. First of all, the barding for the horse is gold and it fits more with the king but we get a ton of those. Then, we get the dwarf in the small set with a silver wing helmet. I hope we can have ordinary dwarfs with copper helmets as well =[.
  16. that was a very enjoyable read, I just saw the movie and I heavily agree with the things you've said. On first impression it was fun but not something worth remembering. I had no idea you were so talented in writing
  17. I heard from an admin at classic-castle.com that this set will not be available in the US. He got tipped off by someone else this information though. Point is....what's going on here? I see the new sets online but no wizard..... did someone forget about us?
  18. Hey brickbitz, I love how your review is not biased 10 ups. In the end, you said, "Overall slightly disappointing." Most people post reviews only with praise, but I'm glad you take both sides . Enjoyed the review just like others have, thanks so much
  19. I want that wizard set, I'm still waiting as well in the U.S. Someone commented on those LEGO impulse sets at Target......omg about two months ago, I bought the impulse police (4 of them) for $1 USD each and the knight also for $1 USD. The sale was great, so it's not so bad that they stuffed it in the cheap toys section at all
  20. How in the world did they get these reprints?! Wouldn't LEGO make much more money if they simply gave us an option to buy re-prints of classic knights, classic forestmen? It would be similiar to Lego Factory. I want to know if these are legit as well as I don't like to get my hopes up. Seeing that they combine various themes together, it's no surprise they will include castle....but you know what the horrible thing would be? That they would separate the themes, by including one infantry in one set, and in the third volume, include a wolf pack. That would mean that in order to mass classic sets of one theme, like having six wolf packs, or six infantry soldiers, you have to buy 6 sets each = 12 sets. I really doubt they will sell it at 9.99....afterall, these are classic figs, special sets. They'll go for at least $12.49+ USD. I'm hope I'm terribly wrong I have an idea on why they put that crazy looking doctor in there...it's gotta appeal to kids. That's why they have that nutty doc with that crazy smiley mouth of his
  21. I like want this set I want that batman helm and the whole cage thing with all the varied colored bricks outside 0_0, me want me want!
  22. I guess I shouldn't use the word "fan." I can say that I like Indiana Jones because I grew up watching it (though I forgot most if not everything about it being so young) with my family. Someone's right, Lego won't make minifigs that battle over religion but hopefully they'll make this minifig as a magnet who knows.
  23. What is strike 4? I am into Indy, I just bought a set, but I'm not an expert like you. I tried to show eurobricks something I found because I think castle fans would be interested, because I'm a castle fan and I'm interested as well. We also want crusaders along with other castle products. I was hoping that Lego would turn this into a real minifig at some point. I do thank you for clarifying that up, the asterisk thing. However, I think the condecsending voice is uncalled for..........
  24. There is a Lego Knight in the DS game of LEGO Indiana Jones (all versions as well). Below is the link to the image from the site. I wish this crusader was really a lego minifig for us castle fans Knight
