Welcome @Incredaboy once your post count exceeds 10, you can PM other members. Honestly though @WiredIT has not posted since November 23 2016 and only joined a couple of weeks before that, with a grand total of 8 posts. So it is unlikely he is still around. You can check this information yourself by clicking on the members name, to bring up their profile. I also notified him so if he is still around he may respond. Good Luck and enjoy your visit.

Saw all of the Xtra Polybags yesterday here in Indianapolis, wanted to pick up a couple but went way over budget with the Pirate Roller Coaster. Hopefully they will be around awhile, they were on that little stand with the key chains and stuff.

Roller Coaster 10261 chain smoothness issue
Johnny1360 replied to Bigcting's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Not sure, I do know I was at the LEGO store right when they had just finished building the display model and I got to mess around with it a bit. The crank seemed to catch every now and then and was difficult to turn at times, I just figured the employees did a rush job and didn't take care to make sure everything worked smoothly before continuing the build. Now I am starting to wonder if it isn't something else, seems as though many people are having issues with it. Some seem to solve the issue by removing a link or two out of the chain. I will say though, there is a lot going on with that mechanism and it is quite large, so I would take extra care to make sure everything works smoothly before moving on to the next stage. At least that way you could identify wherein the problem lies. -
Then there is also UCS Y-wing, system scale Y-wing and microfighter Y-wing, 3 different ones all of them yellow trimmed and all currently available for purchase.

Very happy to have picked up the Pirate Coaster set today, love it, 923 pieces, no numbered bags no stickers and only one Q-bag. LEGO the way LEGO ought to be. Highly recommend this set, thought it was a bit pricey for a Creator set at first but it has a good selection of parts and is quite fun to build. Probably pick up another eventually.

[MOD] 42041 B tuning
Johnny1360 replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
You are indeed a very patient person. -
What's your definition of a long time? I have dozens that have been on display for several years and don't display the symptoms you describe, I do know other people's results may vary but now I am slightly alarmed. I do mess around a bit with them now and then, not really play with them though, also regularly dust them and occasionally wash them, no issues yet.

Well I have two versions of the Sanctum Sanatorium, that were purchased less than a year apart, or do you mean something else altogether.

Yes would think if Target already had it albeit not for sale, that it would be slated for July release, since August is a good 5 weeks away. Just can't see them distributing it that early to stores.

Considering extra pieces when selling used sets
Johnny1360 replied to InvincibleEagle's topic in General LEGO Discussion
And as such would be included in the part list at the back of the instruction book. Valid point for sure, even though I have rarely built a B model, many others do. -
Maybe someone could help me with the translation on that poster, it came out as, hurry up fat monkey, for me.

I think it's more unbridled bitter disappointment on LEGODalekbuster523s part. Personally I look forward to seeing the set, afterwards I will decide if I want it, thinking it will be quite cool though, considering the sheer size alone.

[Poll] What do you do with new sets?
Johnny1360 replied to mocbuild101's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Build set, rarely build the B model, modify said set. Then I usually display it for a while before dismantling it and sort it's parts into bins for later mocs. As far as the second part of the poll, I dump the parts out and start building while simultaneously sorting the remaining parts as I go along. No option for that in the poll, so I guess I am the only one doing it that way. I rarely have a set unopened for more than a few days, I just can't resist the urge to build. -
Sounds reasonable enough and I am grateful for the extra pictures. Note to self, must remember 6x8 when reverse engineering extra pages.
-
Yes you are correct, good catch. I must say that is rather asinine for sure, what the hell are those pictures for then?
-
Yes bottom view please, I would be interested in seeing your steering solution. Turned out pretty good for a small crane. I often build in this scale, just for something quick to do, so I am glad to see this and may copy it, with due credit given of course. I guess it's simplicity is a bit deceptive with 950 pieces. Good job.

Considering extra pieces when selling used sets
Johnny1360 replied to InvincibleEagle's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Funny you should ask, for most of my larger sets, I catalogue and store extra pieces separately, also for smaller sets I plan on keeping together as complete. Probably 70% though just get binned. Not sure why I do that though, just something I've always done. I normally just dump them in a small bowl and sort them later when the bowl fills up, which I literally just finished sorting a bowl full. Good source of 1x1 plates and tiles if nothing else. I really don't need any more stud shooter mechanisms though. Would be interesting to hear how others deal with those extra bits as well. I wouldn't think they would necessarily be included with a used set for sale though, since they are not included within the parts inventory. -
Nice build, I like that you actually took on a scene that is realistic for the time. Thanks for sharing. Was wondering about the curved roof line, was that accomplished by stacking toothed plates, without actually clicking studs together?

I do like the idea of a 007 car, definite buy for me. Also there is plenty of source material for future sets and characters, I just don't see it doing all that well outside of a few die-hard fans. I know I am probably one myself, so I of course would like to see it happen. Honestly though, I don't see how it would be an insult to Dr. Who fans.

Fortunately I have yet to experience broken LEGO, I have noticed though from this thread and others, see fragile pieces on page 2, that the Browns and Reddish-Browns seem to be the ones that most often break. Must be something to do with the pigmentation process is all I can figure. I have just put together the Hans Christian Andersen story book, it has a lot of brown plates and they seem just as durable as other colors. It would be nice to know for sure what causes random breakage though, in hopes of avoiding disastrous consequences.

Technic 2018 Set Discussion
Johnny1360 replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
There is no engine in the weighted block, they simply inject fuel in the cylinder then when the block drops driving the pile in, the fuel is compressed to the point of ignition driving the block back up where more fuel is injected and it does make a sudden drop. Like a one cylinder engine with the pile as a piston. The difference being the cylinder block moves up and down. You are right though when the fuel detonates the pile is driven in while the block is pushed back up at the same time. -
Best ways to fix the cracked sides on minifigs?
Johnny1360 replied to Shroffy123's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I am sure @Shroffy123 is glad, after 7 years, to get a definitive answer. -
I have no news either way, I certainly do hope the theme continues though, I have grown rather fond of them. I do feel the build techniques have evolved for the better as well, with each new wave. There is only so much you can do differently at that scale though, so maybe the theme has run it's course. I do really hope SC goes on at least a couple more years.
