I have contemplated the reasons for those grooves before and usually pay attention to their orientation when following set instructions. However I don't really see any reason why it's necessary to do so. I think the only reason they are there and this is just speculation on my part, is just so they can be released from the moulding process, otherwise they would just stick on the mould.

Good grief it just keeps getting worse each passing day, my report button is about wore out. It's actually getting so bad the forum is being ruined and it's hard to navigate after dark. I feel sorry for the mods that have to deal with it and I hope the problem can be rectified soon.

76110 Batman's trike, if you follow the directions for the rear axle assembly, it will look just like the artwork. Unfortunately to me, they botched it, fortunately it can be fixed with a simply mod using extra parts included with the set. Starting on page 36 thru page 42 simply change the order of assembly and utilize one extra half bush. It should be half bush on axle end thru black beam then (here's where I change things) another half bush, pulley wheel then red 1L bush, then tire/wheel deep well side towards red bush. Then slide the other pulley wheel on, half bush, black beam followed finally with another half bush. This will look more symmetrical and eliminate the minor color barf that occurs if you do it by the instructions. Hopefully this helps someone and hope it was easy enough to understand. I imagine pictures would help, unfortunately I don't have the means currently.

Looks great, there is a lot I like about it, funny you mention the nose-cone it's the one feature I like the least. Really though I thing the whole front part is to bulbous or bulky, needs some streamlining. I do like the way the wings turned out along with the engines, it looks very much like a natural upgraded progression. Dig the stealth like look as well. Good job thanks for sharing.

AFOL designer program

I find that picture to be oddly phallic in nature. -
Honestly I have flown many many times across both oceans twice and plenty of other flights, although that was 30 years ago, much has changed and I'm sure you are right too. I was just going off my memory apparently it's not so good. Maybe there were doors on the right side but since I always was boarded on the left I just never noticed the doors on the other side. Definitely not so sure, that I would argue the point, anyway a quick search will surely provide the correct answer. A quick search showed that indeed there are doors on the right side too, they are just never used for the boarding process so I guess I never noticed them, thanks for making me pay attention. I now must modify all my LEGO planes.

Just going from memory not really checking, all jetliners I have seen only have doors on the left, as said maybe emergency exits on both sides though. Regardless I to would love to see some upgrades to the current plane parts.

LDD/LDraw/Instruction Requests
Johnny1360 replied to supertruper1988's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
The funny thing is it's usually someone's first ever post requesting the files, like they sign up to EB just to ask for the files for a moc they like, then they never post again. Doesn't really bother me so much, just seems odd. Sometimes I think it's people that work for Lepin or some other rip-off type scam. -
Extreme Off-Road Car
Johnny1360 replied to bartneck's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Very interesting minumalistic approach, even with non-Lego parts. I suppose one could put any sort of shell on they wanted to, liked the way the suspension worked out, kind of like a separate swingarm for each wheel. I think a dual wishbone setup would be better, more tire tread in contact with the ground, better traction. It would definitely add many more parts and weight though. Skid steering seems to work okay, again it would add many more parts with a more common steering solution. A small tip, really one of my pet peeves, a little less oh um when speaking, that really drives me crazy and I almost didn't watch the whole video because of it, honestly no offense intended. Anyway great POC vehicle, thanks for sharing. -
[LDD MOC] - Grindelwald´s Hotrod "Black Magic"
Johnny1360 replied to badchriss's topic in LEGO Licensed
Like it enough to where I am going to do the same thing, what a great idea. Even though your model looks great, I think mine will be a bit different. It's funny but a couple of days ago I wanted to build something but I couldn't figure out what, now here in the last two days I have come up with two good models inspired from others work here on EB. -
Not bad at all, you could tell even back then you were destined for great MOCs.

[REVIEW] 42080 - Forest Machine
Johnny1360 replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
So wait your admitting on the World Wide Web, you stole it, hmm whatever floats your boat, and you are going to lift another one, wow sounds like fun. Anyway I thank you for the great review, as always Jim. I do like this set but not as it is, I plan on getting it and modding the hell out of it, probably change its total look and do the functions slightly different. It does seem a tad overpriced but not so much I avoid it. I do like getting the pneumatics and large motor included, I don't care so much for having to buy another PF set just to make it work, which would have a medium motor anyway. Looking forward to getting this set but I am in no hurry, I'm sure it will be around for a little while, maybe pick it up on double VIP points deal. -
The changes are good, glad you finally got a project on ideas. It does look like the wings could use some structural support, as it is it looks like they would fall off the fuselage if you picked it up. Also the whole front nose section could be made more streamlined, don't much care for the looks of the engines either, to long and cumbersome looking to me. Sorry if it sounds like I am nit-picking it apart, not really I actually like it, just think it could be better. I am going thru the same stuff with my plane as well, still can't figure out what parts those doors are yet either or the pieces around the top of the doors, would like to know.
-
Interesting indeed, just so happens that I am building a vintage jet plane myself, about to give up though, just can't seem to get things right. There are a lot of things I do like about yours that I may use as inspiration on mine, the doors, landing gear and wing construction techniques in particular. Some of those parts I have never seen before though maybe I can find substitutes. Having said all that I think your plane could use some refinement, parts seem blocky and don't flow smoothly, hard to accomplish with LEGO I know. It would be interesting to see the source material as well, it looks like a very unique plane.

Not for sure, but that would be quite wacky and a logistical nightmare.

Good grief, I would say the Asian spammers have cracked EB, they have literally flooded every sub-forum, used to be just a couple and with each successive night they increase in numbers at this rate they will have the first page in every sub-forum populated with spam only posts, in a couple more days. Can nothing be done to end this madness? Well it finally happened they filled the entire first page and half the second page in The Great Brick War. Crazy.

Thanks again for the great review, enjoyed reading it, although it seemed to make me like the set slightly less. I have to say though I found it fun to build and I liked the way they put so few parts together to make a fairly large ship, some interesting techniques too. One thing I didn't like though is if the pilot drops his cigarette lighter it will just fall right thru the bottom of the ship, minor inconvenience at best.

Review: 5005254 Lego Harry Potter Bricktober Minifigure Pack
Johnny1360 replied to LegoSims20's topic in LEGO Licensed
Thanks for the fine review, glad to see it, helps me decide if I really want to try and track one down locally. Really happy to see you finally scored this set, I was worried you were going to give yourself an ananurism trying. -
It's over on The Brickfan, there is a link in the Embassy sub-topic, here at EB. You should be able to easily spot the thread it's in, it is the latest post @suffocation I would post the link here if I knew how.

[R] Tempesta GT-1
Johnny1360 replied to GiantAmbushBeetle's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I like it, reminds me of the Turbo Track Racer from this year, except more better, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Did I see this on ideas as well or is that a slightly different car by someone else altogether.
