It will surely honour the Subaru symmetric AWD system, managing curves "like if it was on tracks"!!! Ciao! Davide

EMD F7A with 3D-printed Windshield Frame
Paperinik77pk replied to bogieman's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Spectacular windshield - it should have been quite a work! The locomotive look is amazing!!! Great job and spectacular video! Davide -
I add my appreciation together with all other members - very nice locomotive and very smart solutions (the cylinders are my favourite!!!) Ciao! Davide

Pictures from Torben Plagborg - 9V system
Paperinik77pk replied to Mr Ogel's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I see very interesting 12v things on the upper shelf - the blue steamer seems 8-wide, and the 12v motor looks really nice with its rods and rubber bands. I see some DB E103 in red - which could be a nice model back in the days (wonder if there was a good solution to have the three axles in 9v motor by standard). Wow! -
Very nice DMU! Clean, smooth and well proportioned in its 8-width! The R40 track is PERFECT for this train and an 8-shaped railroad will be its natural place to be. ...obviously joking!!! Ciao, Davide

WIP Portland's Union Station (Or)(will be 2 year project)
Paperinik77pk replied to Barduck's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Spectacular build so far - and it will surely get better - you have such attention to details and very good ideas (stickers for marble effect) I will follow this thread with interest, since building a train is a thing - but a station so big, and complex...well...this is a complete world apart! Ciao! Davide -
I was just wondering about how powering it with a real cog system before dinner! I'll check the drive!!! Thanks! Davide

Maybe I'm a bit late on the first post here, but I wanted to say that as a decision I respect it. I feel it was a bit "rough", written in those big fonts...but ok. Good luck on other forums and platforms! I do not feel EuroBricks as "dying", there are periods in which there are really a lot of posts (as an example, during OctTrainber contest), and there are always interesting things to see, at least here in trains section. As already and correctly said , some posts are more prone to be read and keep interest (as an example, look at the topic of the CRS track and monorails, it's a great one, and introduces a LOT of work and research!), others die quite young, some others are revived after years. It's normal lifecycle of posts inside the forums. From my side, I'd say I was happy to join EB in the past, and even if I have periods in which I am more active I'm still happy to be part of the forum, where I found a lot of nice, helpful people - and, sincerely, I still see them around posting. My personal opinion is to keep the thread open - It won't make people to come back - but it's a good way to show that some members still consider EB a nice place to post their ideas, opinions and creations (simple or complex, small or big...whatever they are). Ciao to all! Davide

Vey nice videos!!! Well done!!! Ciao! Davide -
I like this little thing a lot!!! And the modifications you introduced during this discussion are only making it better. This is something you should build in reality!!! Good job!!! Davide

I'd modify the "no" in "Maybe better not" https://www.flickr.com/photos/138174786@N04/49111509501/in/datetaken-public/ Jokes apart - I think it "could" be suitable but only for bigger scales. It could be reeeally interesting in automated buildings like cranes, level crossings and so on... Ciao! Davide

My 2 cents on the PuP app, after some experiments: Predefined settings are nice for immediate use, but after some choo choo and puff puff and screech and "Batmaaaaan" - these become boring even for kids. The interesting thing about the App is the fact you can create your own control program - so for example you can set different predefined speeds (0,25,50,75,100%), you can emulate acceleration and slowdown to a stop...speaking of trains, obviously, movements and actions are more or less always the same. The possibility to program the outputs of the PuP hubs gave me one nice feeling of "the LOGO Turtle" (I'm getting old, damn!) and I like PuP for this reason. It can be educative. It can go far beyond the choo choo. It can be used also for side tracks accessories, like for example, a crane loading different materials according to wagon color. It can be used to stop the train and open its doors, wait and restart...in this way the PuP is really really nice. But...you're always limited by the number of ports of the small and big hubs. In some cases, the mounting position of the big hub with Technic holes could compromise the access to the ports, limiting even more the possibility to expand functionalities. What I'd change: Small AAA Batteries of the small hub are too weak and do not last so much - I would like to have, for example , a LIPO battery - based solution with USB recharging port like many many Lego "clones" are offering (with PF connections). Less space for batteries, more space for two additional ports. Then, I would like also small motors like Circuit Cubes - these could be nice for secondary functions and eventually smaller models. As a solution, PuP HAS potential, but it must be addressed in some way by TLG.
-
Ciao Thorsten! I've not tried yet, since I initially kept only one motorized "head", and then changed the PuP motor with a 9v one (removing all batteries weight), to run the train on the small track I have in my mountain's house. But I've to try it, since the new garden scale locomotive will have two motors - so I've to choose if PuP or PF!
-
New sets, to me , are sincerely uninspiring - apart the Crocodile, the TGV, the Emerald night - which were a bit more "serious". I bought two 60197 to have a spare PuP box and one more wagon to have a "complete" set. Built them last week and...sincerely: That yellow nose is too big, too strange, too ugly, too long compared to the front bogie. Wagons are always the same model of 10 years ago, but this time the choice of colors is nice! The train does not transmit any "satisfaction" when you see it running around. You are not WAITING for it to point its nose towards you...any time you see it passing, you find some ungraceful proportions. And I cannot even transform it in something else, since bricks are basically non-existent. It has already been said - these are "hit and run" toys. There's no train system behind them, no possibility to expand them, apart for tracks.
-
Sincerely it sounds new also to me! I am now wondering which stickers it should reproduce, since as far as I remember 7777 models use already available stickers or printed bricks. I have seen the DB 7777 around, I created one also by myself, but then I preferred to use generic DB ones. In some cases I used the stickers of the official Lego model providing the main parts in the MOC (e.g. 7750 for big steamers with big wheels)

12v trains in alternative colours - looking for some inspiration
Paperinik77pk replied to exstatik's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Good point! The inspiration for tipper wagons colors did come from old 60s sets, indeed! For the 7720 - it's lovely in orange! Speaking of 241/242 - here's the original... ...and a recolored, modified one: The 7750 is really nice, its color reminds me the central stripe of some Amtrack trains! Ciao! Davide -
12v trains in alternative colours - looking for some inspiration
Paperinik77pk replied to exstatik's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I recovered in the meantime some old drawings in Ldraw and reshaped them a bit using Stud.io. 7720 in different flavours! The black one is probably the most expensive 7720 that can be built, but it can cost a lot more with a 12v red motor! It was re-colored to look alike the first DB diesels, like the V20. Yellow one features the 4,5v yellow motor - to recall a MOW train (pulling for example the 7814 crane). Actually, the 7760-like blue one existed for a few weeks, before i dismantled it to build my SW10 replica in 12V (one of my first posts here in EB). The blue 7720 was then built in XXL format in one of my first experiments in big scale trains. But a workhorse like the 7720 wants some wagons to pull, so......here's some 7777 wagons: I add here one of my first drawings in Ldraw (2010). It's a 7720 in Edelweiss paint scheme (inspired by an old Marklin H0 model): Here's the 7810 Christmas Edition! and a more recent project, for Circuit Cubes motors, a revamped 723 (once it was 12v!): Green is indeed athe most correct color for many locomotives pity it was scarcely used in the past ! That 7740 is awesome!!! Ciao! Davide -
12v trains in alternative colours - looking for some inspiration
Paperinik77pk replied to exstatik's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Ooooh very nice and - I'd say - appropriate color for the 7720!!! I did not consider green color since I'm always thinking at the colors/parts available in the 80s (it's a sick thing of mine , i know). Nice job!!! I like it!!! Ciao! Davide -
12v trains in alternative colours - looking for some inspiration
Paperinik77pk replied to exstatik's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I always wanted to recreate a 7740 in Lufthansa Express livery, but yellow/white doors were a showstopper for me! Here some ideas I thought in many many years... Red 7760 is a classic, 7725 is nice in all colors (also in Rainbow consist!), 7810 and 7710...I'll leave them as they are, but 7810 could be a nice Christmas Train. 7720 can be built in 7760s blue disguise, or in yellow. Black is elegant but 2x2 windows are expensive. 7735 locomotive can virtually be in any color (it depends on "grille" bricks). Ciao! Davide -
That "hill" made of green bricks!!! It's something I've always wanted to do (and never tried - but it's absolutely good!) GREEEEEEAT!
-
Very nice 4- wide locomotives I see here from @idlemarvel and @XG BC !!! Motorization is not impossible in 4-wide, but small motors are needed and here the CircuitCubes motors are really useful. They can work with 3,7v batteries, but a bit of soldering and cable management may be required

I like it a lot!!! The Lisbon tram has always fascinated me, with its bright colors! Supported! Ciao! Davide
