Okay, here’s the minifigure breakdown as far as I can see. Keep in mind I have no idea who any of these people are. Rise of the Domo (big spaceship): Ikaris, Makkari, Sersi, Druig, Thena and Phastos In Arishem’s Shadow (Celestial Mech thing): Ikaris, Sersi, Ajak and Kingo Deviant Ambush: Gilgamesh, Thena and a name I can’t make out but given it’s written as non-exclusive I think it’s Makkari. Eternals’ Aerial Assault (smallest, with the bird thing): Ikaris and Sprite I’m assuming based on his prominence that Ikaris is the main character. Definitely interested in Gilgamesh though. I love Sumerian history.

Huh, all four sets are out and they look great! The smallest two are both two or three Eternals fighting monsters called ‘Deviants’, the second-largest is some kind of big red mech, and the largest has a freaky triangular spaceship, another Deviant and a humanoid Deviant who seems to be the leader. Also wow that is a lot of minifigures and it looks like there’s at least one exclusive in every set, as well as a few duplicates. I know nothing about the lore for this, does anyone have an idea and can enlighten me?

I think it looks great! I mean, really people, what were you expecting from a Ninjago City expansion? This is almost exactly what I was hoping for - though I really wanted it to be a straight section, not a corner. But it looks like it’ll be easy enough to modify to that end so I can’t complain too much. I especially like the big teal tower. That’ll be a great addition to my city’s skyline.

If it makes you feel any better, they’re probably not resurrecting the dead but visiting alternate universes where those characters never died.

That’s not much of an argument since gold Zane and gold Nya are going to be attached to the summer Legacy sets.

I love the new vet clinic and the mall! Definitely getting those for my city. I also see a working escalator! Awesome! Can’t wait to see how that works.

Ooh, the new villains are lit! Check out the helmet on ‘Chief Mammatus’! Can’t wait to get that set, that piece looks great. All the villains do actually, the ‘Thunder Keepers’? And I see some with ants names ‘Rumble Keepers’ - or is it ‘Humble Keepers’? Probably the former, but maybe both? Humble Keeper would be a great name. Agreed that Nya needed a new part. Tch. Zane looks fine though, and the rest of the boys are pretty great. The sets are fun, too! Lloyd’s bike has a little hovercraft attached for Nya? The dragon is gorgeous, and I’m definitely adding that island to my Barracuda Bay. Still looking for pics of the catamaran. Found it! The catamaran looks great! I might buy this whole wave if I have the space for it. The only one I’m iffy about is the jungle bike, and I might have to get that one since it’s the only one with Nya. Also, if this is a Lloyd season, why does he only appear in the two smaller sets?

Pretty sure the face prints for the ghosts are indeed identical. It’s especially egregious when you consider that even though there was a lot of print and part reuse across the sets, every single one of the minion ghosts in 2015 got individual names. For reasons. I’m still not even sure why they did that but they might at least follow through.

Cool, the Legacy hood moulded with silver . . wait. That’s the ZX 2012 shoulder armour. The long rear strap of the 2019 hood makes it incompatible with that part. Is that a new hood mould? Like the 2019 one but without the stupid pointless strap at the back? Hey, wait, the picture on #legoleaks has Legacystone Zane with a white hood and the 2019 shoulder armour. Is that fake? Damnit I got my hopes up.

Hey, the Space Police officer has a reissue of the old Futuron torso. That’s neat! (Though I wish it had been Classic Space black or blue to go with the helmets we have . . Futuron used the same race car driver helmets that are still in production, so the helmet in the Mickey/Minnie set isn’t needed for this one.)

Ew, another big tan building? Not a fan. It’s neat, but like the Corner Garage, I’m not excited for this one. I still need to get the Downtown Diner and Book Shop. Maybe I’ll look back at this in a couple of years.

You don’t even need tiles to attach train tracks to the new roads. The roads are two plates thick, and there’s a height difference of two plates between a track’s sleepers and the top of the rails. All you’d need to do is attach the roads directly to the edges of the tracks and then support them on the other side with some plates underneath. I’m definitely doing that when I get these roads. Any word on when we’ll see the Crook’s Hideout? That’s the one I’m most interested in based on the catalogue we saw last month; it looked like an admittedly simple and blocky but spacious building that could be repurposed for any number of things.

RIP Kirby Morrow. But the leaks are coming on. As we heard before, we get a Tournament of Elements set with Jay and Cole, the three Masters whose names I forget, and Eyezor, as well as a 10th Anniversary Lloyd. Boulder Blaster, with Cole, Lloyd and Eyezor, and Anniversary Kai, the X1 Ninja Charger, with Kai, two Nindroids and Anniversary Cole, and Zane’s Titan Mech, with Zane, two ghosts (pretty sure they’re named but I forget) and Anniversary Jay. All the ninjas are in the same repeated suits as the 2020 Legacy sets, except Zane, who, instead of the hybrid Rebooted/ Tournament suit, looks like he has a totally new Legacy Deepstone suit. My completionist side weeps for the fact that we’ll probably never have that suit for Zane now, but this might be a worthy substitute? Depends really. Definitely interesting that Zane is the only one to get this suit this wave. Speaking of Zane missing out, though, he and Nya don’t have Anniversary suits in any of the sets. Neither does Wu, come to think. Odd. Maybe in the summer wave? Sets look neat, and I might actually get the Mech. It has nice parts and colours, and I love the sand blue. Definitely getting the ToE set, too. I have mixed feelings about the golden Anniversary suits? They’re cool but mismatched and a little bit random. Oh, we also have the ‘ninja vs enemy’ sets! Kai, Zane, Cole and Jay all have these weird casual outfits on? I wonder what the story is there. Especially Jay’s blue zebra print leotard. That one’s so weird. Excited for Zane, though, because it includes his Movie wig in silver! Uh, the guy who posted the pictures just took them down. Damnit I should have copied them.

Hey, yeah, they reused that part from the people pack! Finally! And the best part is, you can actually take it off the speeder and make Din wear it! Also, OMG Din has arm printing! That’s amazing. Have we ever got arm printing in a non-movie set this small? Man, they have to be gearing up to use this figure in a lot of sets if they’re willing to give him arm printing. Also happy to see that the helmet is indeed silver, not gunmetal. And the build is great! The campsite is bigger and more detailed than I expected, the bike is gorgeous, and the ballista . . eh, there had to be a play feature somewhere. And it doesn’t look bad or anything either. Definitely buying this set!

So Iron Man vs Thanos and the Spidey-Hidey-Hole are releasing in March, not January, for reasons? Um. Alright? Iron Man vs Thanos is weird and probably a skip for me. Though the splat stands are pretty cool, I hope those are used elsewhere in the summer. I need those Spidey suits for my display though. Also it looks like Venom has some new tentacle pieces in his hands? Interesting.

Um. Is it weird I’m actually more interested in the Cap and Thor mechs now that there’s actually source material to back them up? Also, I mistook that Black Widow Mech for War Machine for a minute . . and why is Spider-Man an Avenger now?

Watched the video, and noticed something interesting, the Tanooki suit still isn’t moulded with a tail but the tail is printed on the back. Hm. Guess it’s better than no tail like the cat suit.

This isn’t a starter set. If the Starter Set was New Super Mario Bros., this one is Super Mario Maker. It doesn’t include Mario (which makes me annoyed that they priced it so high for a set with less than 400 pieces) but has exclusive parts that can be customised. Apparently. Looks like a pass to me. I love the new power-ups though! They’re cute, and Tanooki Suit was always my favourite. Plus Penguin! What next, Frog? Speaking of the Penguin, I notice that it introduces an winter biome that’s not in any other set and seems to have been glossed over in favour of the purple ‘poision’ Soda Jungle area. Oh, but I love the Soda Jungle stuff! The Wiggler looks brilliant, I’m absolutely getting that one, especially because of the 8x16 tiles in purple! And a Chain Chomp, too, yay! The Piranha set is a bit dull, but neat enough. The blind bags are . . meh for the most part. I do like the Poison Shroom, that’s a fairly deep dive into the lore. Most of the other enemies are fairly dull (you know I had forgotten that Thwimps even existed . . ) and . . Bone Goomba? Is that like a Dry Bones version of a Goomba? Is that a thing? The Ninjit and Fly Guy are cool, bonus that you can just take off the propeller and have a normal Shy Guy. Great looking wave, though it doesn’t really fill in the gaps in the franchise (Peach, Luigi, Rosalina . .) and people will hate it because it’s still not minifigure scale. Oh well, still gonna buy it and enjoy it.
