  1. Wait. “Road Tape”? What in the world is . . {googles} How did I not know about this before? I’ve never heard of this, never seen it, never seen it promoted on Shop@Home or mentioned on legoleaks by anyone . . wow. That is terrible. Both the lack of promotion and just the entire concept. ‘Road tape’. Back to the new road system. I don’t think LEGO cares about alignment with Modular Buildings; remember the cardboard play mats? Those were exactly one plate thick, meaning that they worked easily with stuff that was built on plates and not at all with baseplates and Modulars. Also, another thing that I haven’t seen mentioned; baseplates are exactly half a plate thick. I’ve tested it with Technic for MOCs in the past.
  2. So do we know for sure that the ‘classroom books’ also include house common rooms? Personally, these sound interesting. I’ve been planning to build Hufflepuff and Slytherin dorms to go with the Gryffindor and Ravenclaw ones from the Whomping Willow and Astronomy Tower (which I still haven’t got ugh . .) but I might hold off now after hearing about this. I suppose this means I’ll have to devote space to a Herbology classroom too rather than just discarding that part of the AT.
  3. Wow. I don’t think I’ve ever been less excited for a Ninjago wave. Just more rehashes of ninja vehicles. The only standout in the Legacy side is the Tournament of Elements, which I’m hoping is a rerelease of that dojo set from 2015 with Karlof and Griffin Turner. It was a retail exclusive and I was just coming out of my dark age then so I missed it and I’ve regretted it since. Though I am somewhat interested in the ‘Ninja vs Goon’ sets since they’ll probably include new updated versions of those bad guys for army building. Could be interesting depending on what the figures are like. On the other hand, there’s going to be some kind of jungle theme to the actual show sets? That sounds interesting. I assume this Catamaran Sea Battle is the big boat set we heard about before? That could be interesting. The Jungle Dragon and Keeper Village also sound neat. Could we be so lucky that the Keeper Village is a follow-on to the Gamer’s Market, with a lot of minifigures?
  4. I’ve been cobbling together a news crew for my city. Right now my plan is to change the recording studio in the top floor of the Downtown Diner into a radio station, and wait until next time they do a ‘police mobile base’ and convert that into a news truck. Also apparently there’s going to be a new kind of road plate, according to Promobricks?

    .

I like this, but, uh . . you know that it’s ‘Sewage’ not ‘Sewerage’, right?
  6. So I guess this is dead . . some of it looks really cool though. I kinda want to try making some of those characters as purist customs now. Anyone got any ideas how I’d go about that or want to do something similar?
  7. So it seems to me like everyone’s just forgotten about the Vibe City Concert. No shop’s selling it other than Shop@Home, no one’s reviewed it, no one’s talking about it . . does anyone know what’s going on?
  8. Very true. Honestly the only reason I’m hesitant about getting the 2012 Batcave is the rumours that there’ll be a new Batcave in 2021 for the ?0?1 Batman movie, which might end up being the better choice.
  9. Sorry to derail the discussion about the Batwing, but I managed to (finally) get the 2017 TLBM Batcave on eBay. It feels so good to finally have a Batcave, and (in my humble opinion) the best Batcave, no less. So I want everyone’s opinion on what suits I should use to fill the slots on the suit rack. I want to expand the rotating suit rack to accomodate more suits, as from my collection I already have, um, the DCEU version (from the 2016 Batmobile), the suit from the Talons set which I think is the ‘Thrasher’ suit, the ‘Rebirth’ suit that was exclusive to the Brother Eye set, the Anniversary suit that’s in the current sets, the TLM2 wastelander Batman, and the Fairy Batman CMF (which I got by accident a while ago). This is of course in addition to the ‘Raging Bat’, ‘Scu-Bat’ and whatever the gold suit is supposed to be that came with the Batcave, and the obligatory much-repeated TLBM Batsuit (I have enough of those to fill the entire rack actually but that seems redundant). I’d really like to have a large display of rotating suits, though, and I’m definitely not a major Batman fan. So I want everyone’s opinions; what are the most epynonymous and important LEGO Batman suits that would be worthy inclusions and that I should look to track down? Please don’t mention the 1989 version in the D2C Batmobile, that set is far out of my price range and even if I could afford it I have nowhere to put it. I’m particularly looking at the original appearance Batman that’s currently in the DC CMF, the Arctic Batsuit from 76000 Aquaman on Ice and the dark blue suit from the 2012 Batcave - both of which I’ve found well-priced listings for on eBay. I feel like the 2012 Batcave would combine well with the 2017 version as there’s almost no overlap; the garage doors and transformation feature are distinct from the 2017 Batcave, and only the computer and (sort of) the prison cell are similar. Thoughts, anyone?
  10. Glad you think so! Honestly, I’ll probably revisit this sometime soon with a BrickLink or B&P order; make it a lot taller, add the proper trans purple colours (thank goodness the 1x6x5 panel exists in trans purple). Maybe I’ll resubmit the upgraded version this time next year and earn CFS a few more points on Fondor. (Or some other planet. :P)
  11. I can see why you’d think that, but looking at the Promobricks pictures one of the elves has a scarf part which goes ‘over’ the belt, so I’m pretty sure it’s just printed.
  12. Huh. That actually looks pretty good. Definitely an improvement on the Gingerbread House. Another tree, yawn, but I like the reindeer! Assuming it’s priced well, then yes, I’ll probably get this one. Box art is atrocious, though. I personally don’t much care, but box collectors have my sympathy.
  13. Yeah? I don't really have a photography setup . . It's not supposed to be an archway it's supposed to be an entire building actually . . or at least a facade. I got the idea for the design from the building in this image; It should really be a lot taller but I didn't have enough parts, and I had to replace the transparent colours with black because trans colouring gave me a bunch of ugly lines that I didn't have the parts on hand to fix.
  14. Wait, what wand box part? That sounds new and exciting.
  15. Haha, I still think this is one of the all-time goofiest Bat-vehicles. Including the weird ones from TLBM. :P
  16. Christmas at Grimmauld Place, yes please! I still really want them to do a proper Grimmauld Place set. Ideally as a pseudo-Modular in the vein of Ninjago City (but much much smaller and more affordable). Maybe that’ll be the 2022 HP D2C.
  17. *Your entry has earned 5 XP* Astrid Speccroix’s Logs #1 Hello? Is this thing on? I hope so. My name is Astrid Speccroix. I came to Fondor because I’d heard rumours that the Confederacy of Free Systems was conducting an operation here, and I wanted to petition them to help my home planet. I don’t think I really thought through what ‘conducting an operation’ meant. Stormtroopers. It meant Stormtroopers. So here I am, hiding behind a pile of crates as those damn bucketheads assault an innocent citizen, and all I have between them and me is the backs of their heads and a burnt-out old slugthrower. If I get out of here alive, I’m going to buy a bigger gun. (First build for Factions, yay! Personally, not bad given I was late to the party and threw it together out of whatever I had lying around.)
  18. Whoa. What a gorgeous design! Wonderful work.
  19. Lucky you, getting to go to the LEGO store . . in Victoria we’re still under quarantine . .
  20. Considered trying to make a custom Rosalina at digifig Mario scale. Then realised how useless that would be and decided to hold out in hope of minifig sets instead. Sorry. I have a custom Invincibility Star, but it’s literally just the Podoboo printed eye part on a TLM2 yellow Star part. (I meant for it to be a custom Luma but it just doesn’t look right . . I’m working on the Luma thing still.)
  21. This might just be me, but I’m getting sudden Club Penguin flashback vibes from this set. Especially that little snow fort, that’s such a lovely design. It’s gorgeous and I can’t wait to put this in my Christmas square. Also, is that a trans blue 1x1 tooth? That’s awesome! I want so many of those!
  22. Oh yeah? What have you put around it? I got it in about April 2018, right after the Downtown Diner was revealed, and resolved to match the aesthetic by putting the DO and DD right next to each other. But more important things kept coming up and I kept putting it off and . . well, there’s been an empty lot labelled ‘Reserved for Downtown Diner’ to the left of the Detective’s Office for more than two years now.
  23. Agreed. Winter Village was what first got me into city building a couple of years ago. (Then I managed to get the Detective’s Office at 30% off as my first Modular Building, then they made the Sanctum Sanctorum and I just had to get it. Then I was looking at those together and thinking, “Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a road there?” and now I have five tables in the shed with a layout of more than sixty baseplates . . I guess you could say it snowballed. :P)
  24. I just keep my Winter Village built permanently as part of my city. Though it’s nothing compared to some of these; I only have the 2015 Toy Shop, Train Station and Fire Station, plus the Friends Ski Resort Chalet and a modified version of the Creator Expert 3-in-1 Ski House from a couple of years ago. (Actually I got a couple of other sets from that modular series and put them all together as a large house/sweet shop, and tweaked the roofs so that they were all covered in snow to match.)
  25. This is an amazing design. I love it!
