[BTSC] BotBS Tournament Soccer Cup 619
Darnok replied to Darnok's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Playing Schedule This years tournament will be played with six teams, see below for details on all of them. The OP of this thread has a schedule with daily updates for all games played. The six teams are split in two groups (three each), in order of registry. Starting with December 11th, one game will be played each day until the 22nd 23rd, with a break on the 17th (changed). Both groups will be played as double round-robin, i.e. each team plays each other twice. The winner of each group will move on to the final. In the unlikely case of a tie for the top of a group - meaning after using secondary scores like goal saldo, direct comparison of their results against each other and number of cards received (in that order) - those teams would first play a semi-final. Because of this, the date of the final is still open. The schedule and group tables are as follows: ==================================[ GROUP A ]================================== Group A Sea Rats Smileys Ocean Eleven Weelond Regimentals Sea Rats Smileys 18. 20. Ocean Eleven 11. 22. Weelond Regimentals 13. 15. Team Game 1 Game 2 Game 3 Game 4 Points (Saldo) Sea Rats Smileys [5|3|2] - - - - Ocean Eleven [3|1|5] - - - - Weelond Regimentals [3|5|4] - - - - ==================================[ GROUP B ]================================== Group B Quinnsville Cannonade Rassilon Rascals Team E Quinnsville Cannonade 19. 21. Rassilon Rascals 12. 23. Team E 14. 16. Team Game 1 Game 2 Game 3 Game 4 Points (Saldo) Quinnsville Cannonade [4|3|5] - - - - Rassilon Rascals [3|3|3] - - - - Team E [2|5|4] - - - - For each group, the first table shows the dates of all pairings, the second table shows the results. The second table also shows each teams stats as [A|M|D] behind the teams name. As for the teams, here they are with their full line-up: 1.) Sea Rats Smileys (SR) @dr_spock 2.) Ocean Eleven (OL) @Ross Fisher 3.) Weelond Regimentals (ESL) @Capt Wolf 4.) Quinnsville Carronade (COR) @LM71Blackbird 5.) Rassilon Rascals (SR) @MKJoshA 6.) Team E (OL) @Bodi P.S.: I had good fun with the team player names - some were provided by their "coaches", other I had the freedom to choose. Inspiration came from different directions. If anybody has an issue with anything: just let me know! Good game for everybody! -

Entrance is closed now, we got six teams competing in this years BotBS Tournament Soccer Cup 619. The schedule with more details will follow later today, games will start tomorrow. Dammit! I hope life is going well though, and hopefully you can make it next year. Would have love to have you around - on the other hand it means I do not have to do another schedule yet again. So not all is bad! -
Fixed both, I got something wrong about Robin it seems. The lady is Danielé "Danny" La Mer, spiritual leader of the pack. A feminized version of Mr. Ocean, with "la mer" being a french version of his second name.

[BTSC 619] The Quinnsville Cannonade
Darnok replied to LM71Blackbird's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Another great team introduction! Loving the stadium build, there is just one minor mistake: the goals are standing on the field! They belong behind the field line: Maybe fix that and add some folks to the bleachers? -
A great team introduction! I think you have achieved a lot of background story and character of the team in not that much of text. Please take it as the compliment it is intended to be! @Ross Fisher: I took the freedom to assign positions and come up with names for your players, based on actors and their roles in a certain movie: Any complaints should be shouted in my general direction.
-
Awesome build, I will comment in detail later on! @Bodi: It seems your team only has nine players, I guess that's not intentional?

Last call for the BTSC 619: if you want your team to fight to death on the field of glory (or just kick some balls), join now! Registration is still open for roughly another 20 hours (i.e. still the 9th anywhere on the world). -

Darnok replied to Darnok's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Ah, two rather late entries - the more, the merrier! I only now realised that I can not do a game schedule before knowing all entrants - so not before tomorrow. Silly me! So yeah, schedule will be up tomorrow, with the first game on the 11th. @Bodi @Capt Wolf @dr_spock @LM71Blackbird @MKJoshA @Ross Fisher If you have not done so already, please let me know whether your team intends to play fair or unfair in their first game - PM please, for secrecy. Also, if you want your game reports to have more details (and have not done so yet), I would gladly appreciate a list of names for your team. This is by no means a necessity, I will fill any blanks left myself though (either by rollings stats and tactics randomly or making up names as needed). Looking forward to how this goes! -

Aww, very sorry to hear it. Well, life is life, sometimes you just step on a brick in the wrong moment. Best of luck for next year, and my best wishes in the meantime. -

Guys (and gals?), there are only two more days left to sign up for the BotBS Soccer Cup 2019. Four teams are in so far, can we have some more? I hope so! -

So we have enough teams for two rounds so far - it's something! Excellent entries from everybody so far, Mesabi Landing can be proud to have you. P.S.: Four more days to sign up, I hope we see many more challengers! -

Don't get me wrong: I see no need to hurry anything. Just a friendly reminder for everybody, so nobody needs to hurry later on. -

Just a short heads-up: the tournament starts in two weeks from now. There are no entrants so far. -

I do this for my own builds, I think a link is in my sig (have turned visibility for those off due to much annoying stuff from other users). It is super helpful indeed, if a bit more work every now and then to keep it updated. -

LEGO Hidden Side 2020
Darnok replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I do like the Lighthouse and the portal with Ghost Jack. Other than that: maybe, but not too likely. I don't know why, but most of this doesn't catch my interest like the first wave. -

I'd consider that unfair play - just let me know your team wants to "do the Neymar/Robben/fakerofchoice". -

Darnok replied to Darnok's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
They may look complicated at first, but in the end it is quite an easy process. I like rolling dice, and this process gives me a somewhat realistic sequence of outcomes describing the "natural flow" of a game - which should make writing up the game reports quite easy. Already looking forward to how some old-timers are doing this year! -

Finally, the BotBS Tournament Soccer Cup 619 is near! Sign up until 9th of December, and find out all the details here: -
BotBS Tournament Soccer Cup 619 Hello and welcome friends of ballshaped entertainment, to this years soccer cup, brought to you by the WTC straight from Mesabi Landing! Winning last years glorious tournament in Bastion, the Red Rogues earned the right to bring this years event to Argentia. With the year 619 starting with destruction and drama, followed by slow bureaucracy later on, for the longest time it was unclear if the event would even be hosted, but now the ball will finally be rolling. Mesabi Landing and the WTC are proud to host the BotBS Tournament Soccer Cup 619! 1. Timeframe You can sign up for the tournament until the 9th of December. Games start on 9th of December, with the tournament setup depending on participation numbers. If a group stage is necessary, it will run until the 21st, followed by a knockout stage in the first week of January (holiday season from 22nd of December to 6th of January will be free of games!). In case of less than nine participants there will be no group stage. If necessary, NPC teams will join to bring the number of teams up to 8. 2. Participation Rules The only requirement to participate in the tournament is a players declaration to do so, combined with one or more picture(s) of „his team“ plus a short background story for it. One team per player only this year! This declaration happens as a thread of its own (preferably with the tag [BTSC 619] in the thread title) which is linked to in a post in this thread. A player has to be part of the BotBS game before the tournament itself starts (i.e. 9th of December 2019). Signing up is easy! The picture(s) of the team require enough minifigs for a legal soccer team, i.e. eleven players including a goalkeeper, plus one trainer (usually a figbarf of twelve minifigs). A unifying colour scheme is welcome but not necessary. See below for some comments! The background story of the team has to include the team name as well as the name of the trainer and at least two of its players. More background is welcome (and makes writing the game reports easier) but not necessary. Since this year each team has values affecting its ingame performance, each participant can decide to either choose these values or let them be determined randomly. This can be done until 9th of December (so not necessarily when posting your thread initially, but later on). The details are covered in the rules below under „Team Stats“. While no additional builds are required to participate, each player can earn a bonus for the team by building and licensing a property in the settlement of Mesabi Landing before the tournament starts (i.e. 9th of December 2019). Again, the details for this are covered in the rules below under „Team Stats“. If you are looking for examples of previous teams: you can find plenty in the threads for the 617 event in Trador as well as the 618 event in Bastion. If you do not have the minifig parts to equip a whole team at once, you could use the ones you have spread over multiple pictures, changing as little as the heads - using multiple pictures to get the team numbers required. The team also does not have to be uniform at all. Finally: creative solutions are just as fine! 3. Rewards Each participating team earns its player 25 DBs, regardless of outcome in the tournament. All builds licensed in Mesabi Landing to gain a bonus are compensated in their license cost by the WTC. The overall winning team earns its player 250 DBs, and the right to host next years Soccer Cup! The overall best team presentation earns its player 100 DBs. The best build to gain a bonus will earn its player 100 DBs. 4. Gameplay Rules This is quite some content, beware: Don't get a shock from all that, as a player you have to do (almost) nothing after setting up your participating team (unless you wish to play unfairly, in which case some communication is needed). If you have questions, please feel free to ask! 5. Participating Teams Sea Rats Smileys (SR) Ocean Eleven (OL) Weelond Regimentals (ESL) Quinnsville Carronade (COR) Rassilon Rascals (SR) Team E (OL) 6. Thanks. I kept the walls barren on purpose (with the exception of the painting) to stress the unfinished state of the office. Maybe that will change once the interior is complete. The WTC Administrator is mostly Beetlejuice from a Dimensions set. Mordo is taken 1:1 from Doctor Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum. Aye, such stuff can work wonders. The great thing about using the laptop is its flexibility combined with the massive variety of images provided by the internet. With books I am restricted to the motives I have printed in them - and to their size. Not only can I use so much more images on the laptop, but I can also easily resize and edit them.

Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion, Era II
Darnok replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
A letter had been sent to the local governor of Corrington on the Paradise Isles: === 9th day of the 11th month, 619 Mesabi Landing Dear Colonel Sir Dirk Allcock, Governor of the Paradise Isles, Representative of the Crown of Corrington, .it is with great unrest that we at the WTC have heard of the recent attacks on Spudkirk. As loyal servants of the Crown we wish to do our part in overcoming this new threat to Corrington and its shining future. You might not know, but one of our expeditions has returned some time ago, bringing with them a map of the New Haven region. We believe this map shows vital information of an ongoing conflict on El Oleonda, and could provide helpful intel in whatever the Crown deems necessary for that area. We can not tell how current this information on the map is, but it should be at least a starting point and a reference for future developments. Find a copy of this map attached to this letter, as a gift from the WTC to your efforts. Another way we hope to help should arrive in Spudkirk shortly: a fleet of our finest warships, accompanied with pioneers and construction workers. They are meant to protect and rebuild Spudkirk, making it Corringtons presence in the New Haven sea region to be reckonned with. These ships and troops are at your disposal as long as they are needed. Please note that I will be unavailable in person for a while. The newly appointed WTC Administrator Arthur Mengsk is the current head of all our operations in Mesabi Landing, until either myself or the honourable Count Mesabi return. In the spirit of cooperation, yours sincerely, Kadeus Mordo WTC Representative Of Foreign Affairs ======================================================= An IC post to illustrate some of the WTCs latest decisions. I assume @Bregir and @Ayrlego are the ones who have to know this, but I believe it will be of interest to others too. The map in question will be shown to the faction players in the Corrington PM shortly! The troops are supposed to be these, recruited with the purpose of helping with the rebuild of Mesabi Landing. Their expertise should come in handy in Spudkirk - and they can hold their own in a fight of course! The next KPA will show what fleet Corrington can muster in Spudkirk. -
Some things never change... ... and some things do change. After months and even years of work for the WTC it had become clear to Kadeus Mordo that the administration of such an organisation could no longer remain as it was. With the Mesabis in charge in name only most of the everyday dealings had fallen to him - something he was no longer willing to handle all on his own. The Operator corps had done a solid job with smaller operations, but they had no big picture to work with. Taking these ruthless individuals, and searching their ranks for the very best of the best - or worst, depending on your opinion of the WTC - Mordo recruited a select few of them to become what he called WTC Adminstrators. This new rank came with almost absolute power over the WTCs ressources, surpassed only by the Mesabis and Mordo himself. They were meant to run the WTC with its grand plan in mind, dealing with strategic tasks and giving Mordo the freedom to pursue his own agenda - while answering only to him. That would change once the infamous Count was back in Mesabi Landing, but who knew how much longer that would take? The first of this new WTC Administrators was to be Arthur Mengsk, an individual of shady and mysterious past, and completely loyal to Mordo. "Kadeus my friend, these new offices are shiny, as is my uniform. I ver much like all of this - other than the huge amount of work it brings. I have yet to properly furnish my rooms..." "Always the complainer I know, Arthur! Remember to call me properly out in public, I do not want to have the Mesabi nepotism associated with me. Officially we hardly know each other, and you were cosen for your exceptional work only! Anyway, despite all the work on your end you were able to put up some painting on the wall? Nice bit of classical cubism right there." "Sure is, I like the old masters. There is always time for art. And it might not look like it with the stacks of paper there, but I have dealt with most of your requests already. Our operations in Quinnsville and Stormhaven are well underway, with your other plans set in motion as well. We have dispatched a small fleet to Spudkirk, accompaned by some troops and construction workers." Mordo replied: "Very well, so I can leave for the East soon. Excellent! What is it with the latest WTCM delay? I also heard the parade has not happened yet... but we paid for ot already! What is up with that?" Slightly agitated, Mengsk responded: "Those darn newspaper folks messed up something, the official excuse had to do with printing errors. Whatever! The parade is paid for indeed, and I will personally see to it before the end of the month. Time to give those redshirts a kick up their lazy antistuds! On the other hand, you might be relieved to hear that we just received the last paperwork necessary for the football tournament. So with some luck we might have it run and done before years end!" "Good news indeed. I will put it into your hands. One more thing. These two letters..." "... need to be dispatched as soon as possible. They contain copies of a map and our reasoning for sending warships and troops to Spudkirk, so have one each sent to the place and the local governor. I will leave before nightfall, and trust you giving this the utmost priority." "It will be done... Mr. Mordo. I guess ou can not tell me any details of the letters contents or what you are up to?" "Of course not. I have company by two High Priests though, if that is giving you the right idea." "Holy sh... may your fire not perish then." With a simple nod, Mordo turned around and left... ================================================================ Posting this was planned for a while, as @Mesabi can attest. At long last! A few things will follow soon, some text only, some with builds. This one will stay around for the time being - the office can not stay without proper furniture forever! I also hope to use it for some upcoming stories in the near future. I consider the build done for the scene I wanted to show here, but overall it is somewhat "WIP", so no EGS license for now. licensed on June 30th, 2022. I used the very same "trick" as in another scene before in regards to background outside of the window: It's hardly visible, but things like this matter to me. Also, from above: So let's see where the WTC is heading with these latest decisions. As always, comments and criticism are welcome - in particular in regards what you would like to see for an expansion of this build.
