  1. There is another interview, from the creator of that BMW bike model, posted today (Monday). Seems to be a tight schedule, they may have plans to announce something.
  2. Voltron seems to be a really popular set. There are at least three dozen projects based on it at the front page of the Ideas site... some quite complex, but people don’t read the rules?
  3. Maybe the massiveness of the build. While I have seen some nice skyscrapers in LEGO (where each floor interior is different) I still do not like to build skyscrapers, mainly because their exterior are pretty much repetitive.
  4. If think what confused people (myself included) is that Azani mentioned “three wide-release“ sets. A D2C set is not a wide-release set, it is an exclusive one.
  5. Ah, I am from Brazil, Lego is not officially here too, only a representative.
  6. Where do you live?
  7. Shop@Home, the LEGO online shop: shop.lego.com
  8. Really? I missed that rumor. JW3 is set to 2021. Will Lego keep the theme alive until them? Their report seems to indicate this year sets were successfull.
  9. Rejected Ideas projects are still property of LEGO for at least two years, so no, I guess they won’t have a second chance.
  10. “The train was built with public fundings and in collaboration between different cities in order to allow Batman to travel across the country, giving lectures about crime-fighting while taking his equipment along with him.” Man, the cost of Batplane fuel was high at the time.
  11. I am laughing loud now picturing it.
  12. Great topic and outstanding idea, Berthil! Adding lights to a modular display really makes the city comes to life. Not only at night time but during daylight too since you can see the interiors (which usually are too dark thus it is not worth to populate them with minifigs). Since I don’t trust my soldering skills (having not done any after college 20 years ago) I started to look for ready to install kits. They are expensive and to be honest I am not happy with the results. First I tried was Detective Office. Thd lights are great but... - their placement not always make sense. Some bricks are changed by others with leds but not all of them (for instance, the lights at the sides of the mirror at the Barbershop are not). - wires, lots of wires and their length sometimes are too short, sometimes too long - plus they are not thin enough, passing them over plates make their connections a little bit too loose. It adds up, so a beautiful Lego model (which system is very milimetrical crafted) loose its sturdiness. - wires through floors are really bad, you cannot easy separe the floors anymore. So I don’t really know what to do... maybe I will try to handmade some solution like yours. The tubes were really a great idea. I am not completely sold on the idea of nails for the floor connection I need to find something different. Keep posting your progress, I am also building the Brickactive modulars.
  13. They already did Ghost Rider and Ms. Marvel, so odds they will not release another set with them. Squirrel Girl is popular so it is a maybe. TV live action Marvel shows are for mature viewers so not a fit for LEGO sets, maybe just some promotional Con exclusives.
  14. Keep in mind that Creator line includes the Expert line, with stuff like Modulars, Fairground sets like the new Coaster, the Winter Village, Expert Cars and the big stuff like Taj Mahal. A lot of stuff that can contribute to sales and results. The vanilla Creator line took a dive in my opinion when they stop making full houses and complete buildings for doing that pseudo “modular” line (that are only modular in the sense you can combine various ugly sets into a big ugly set). Sure things like the Pirate’s rollercoaster are nice and welcome but they are so much more they could do. But my biggest complain is still the City line (which is less a city line than the Friends line).
  15. Where are you guys getting extra motors/batteries packs to convert the old models? I thought the Power Up parts are still only available in the new sets, not sold separately.
  16. Sometimes people like to build but do not have the creativity or skills to make good MOCs themselves yet. In my point of view it is not bad to ask or buy instructions as long as you are not harassing the author. I have bought some instructions in the past and still want to buy them if available for great looking mocs, it is a nice way to learn building technics, as diferent people has different solutions for similar problems. I came out of my dark ages a little more than 2 years ago. At first building official sets, then I tried to make some otiginal creations in LDD but found the first steps quite difficult. Building other people MOCs and trying to reproduce them in LDD is a great learning tool. Example, last month I tried to duplicate some sets from the Zhonghua series from Xingbao, based on online photos and video reviews. I was able to reproduce a set 100% but after that I change it to be able to build it with real Lego bricks, and start thinking in ways I can improve it. The result is quite different than the original model and I learned a lot about building in LDD. As long as you are not bothering the original authors I think it is ok. And I agree: appreciate the MOC first, share your thoughts with the author, and maybe request if you can build it too. Do not make pass by posts of just “can I get the instructions?”
  17. The scope of this will be determinated by what “for a limited time” means. Is the program hosted by Bricklink for a limited time because Lego itself will hold it later or because it is a short life program? Plus we may overthinking it by saying it is related to MOCs. It may be just a special program to get or request parts (even some that does not exist now).
  18. Just got this book, after having it in my Amazon basket for a few months. I just have to say it is great, not only for LEGO trains fans, but for LEGO fans in general. Most Lego books just spend a considerable number of pages on trivialities and then procede to a few building instructions. This book not only have an extensive chapter covering the history of LEGO trains sets (including pros and cons of each era) but an awesome second part of explaining building technics, from where you can build anything.
  19. Where I can see those movie posters?
  20. Congratulations, they are nice builds. I am also planning to add the Brickative’s full size modulars to my city layout (I don’t care for the 16x32 buildings, they seem not so interesting to me). I am still collecting pieces for my first buildings. About 65% of the Hospital, which I will build first , followed by Bike Store, Old Pub and Bootblack Street (all of them are around 30-50% of the pieces bought). Since I am on South America, it is harder (and more expensive) to get the pieces. I will probably build the Havana Cafe too, although it looks a little different from the others. I still need to buy its instructions (when they will be back from their vacations, it is already mid-August!). There is already another project that I am taking on the path to learn/master MOCing: I am trying to reproduce (in Lego) the builds from Xingbao Zhonghua Street series. I am trying to build them in LDD based on the photos and video reviews available online. The Chinese Pub is already fully rebuild on LDD, from which I made some color changes to be able to build in real bricks, plus some modifications of the parts I did not like (like the stairs). But those are really simpler builds that the regular modulars or the Brickative’s ones.
  21. I guess I misread him, but even so I don’t know if LEGO could please anyone. If it is exactly the same set, as purist collectors want, it won’t sell much because it doesn’t have modern appeal. If LEGO change it, substituting the old pieces for modern ones (like the windows) some estrutural changes have to be made, plus adding interior detail will also requires those changes, maybe also changes the facade to add detail and modern building techniques. So the end build would so different that it only resembles the old set, and the nostalgia/completeness will not be a factor anymore. Lego may better just release a new set within the same theme.
  22. I think it is exactly the opposite: collectors would be happy to have a exactly copy of the old set, while new and casual builders would think the buildings are too simple and empty by today’s standards.
  23. Those earlier releases don’t fit with today esthetics so they could not be rereleased without a major overhaul which would make them pointless as rereleases. But I agree that they can revisit old themes/buildings (like the hotel) with a completely new building.
  24. Ghostbusters. And as people arealdy pointed out, Simpsons.
