Lego City 2022 Rumours, Leaks, Information And Discussion
icm replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
I think 60341 from 2017 is the best City police station -
@BrickBob Studpants: I'm not accusing anyone of an abuse of power. I was just fact-checking speculation up-thread, the way one fact-checks speculation about the designer or driving mind behind any other set. For instance, I really appreciate knowing who designed a Creator Expert set and who backed it during the design process. No accusation here, just fact-checking.

Here's a relevant quote from the comments of Matthew Ashton's Instagram post about the set. This comment is Matthew Ashton replying to brotherfromanotherbricks: matthew__ashton Verified @brotherfromanotherbricks I didn’t actually design this set, but I may have nudged someone into making it happen ;) Here's the post, if I can make the link work: https://www.instagram.com/p/CZzXcRbsslF/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet So the hunch expressed in this thread that it's a set happening because of Matthew Ashton seems to be largely correct. The conclusions you draw from that, if any, are of course up to you.

Now I want the summer Harry Potter wave to have some of the fried egg splat parts from City, all nicely printed to look like this: https://harrypotter.fandom.com/wiki/Lamb_chop It's all right, it's canonical to the movies! And not DH1 or DH2 either. Dang, now I want a set of the Hog's Head with Aberforth Dumbledore and his pet goat.

LEGO Star Wars 2022 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
icm replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
This list does sound a bit too good to be true, but the 2021 list also did and it turned out pretty great. So I'll be cautiously optimistic about it because it's from Promobricks - but I'll put extra salt on my lunch just in case. -
As a Space fan myself, I also get to decide for myself what I consider Space to be, and what I want in a Space set. Let's all just agree to disagree.

LEGO Star Wars 2022 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
icm replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Are these real though? We've had a few fake leaks in the past week or so. If they are real, I bet either 75325 or 75334 is Mando's starfighter, and 75337 is a Republic Gunship. That would go with the AT-TE for 75336 and with the 20th anniversary of AoTC, as well as handing the torch over from the Razor Crest in that approximate size class/ship class in the product line. But that's just speculation. I guess Promobricks is usually a reliable source. Whose Jedi starfighter do you think it's gonna be this time? I'm hoping for Obi-Wan's from AOTC, I missed the 2017 model. And I guess Cad Bane's ship must appear in Bad Batch Season 2 or the Obi-Wan Kenobi show, because (spoiler, not spoiler) it doesn't appear in BoBF. That's what makes me a bit skeptical about this list, I don't know any reason for Cad Bane's ship to appear there especially at the whopping $160 price point. -
LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
icm replied to Lyichir's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
You're not the only one. I think I posted about that in a different thread. I know I told my friends who are into Lego about it. For me, that takes it from a meh to a must-buy. Lego hasn't done that kind of near-future sci-fi / engineering concept deep space Interplanetary vessel before, ever. -
Traditional Lego Space is all kids sets with big parts and crazy colors. As for 80035, the connection to Lego history is right there in the name, and in the Classic Space-inspired cloud logos on the spacesuits, and so on.
-
Eh, Space has something substantial right now: the Monkie Kid Galactic Explorer and the Chang'e Moon Cake Factory. They're not quite traditional Space, but the Galactic Explorer at least is every bit as good as any other big spaceship Lego has ever made, and much less overtly gimmicky than the Moon Cake Factory (ie, no rabbits or carrots).

Looks to me like those are 1x1x1 minifigure neck brackets, but it's hard to tell from that picture.

It's not new. It's the sort of triangular part that got a lot of use in Nexo Knights.

It's public domain. The novel and characters are about five hundred years old. Any use of them in any context is fair game.

Lego City 2022 Rumours, Leaks, Information And Discussion

I was planning to get the lunar space station, but I wasn't a big fan of the design. Seeing these new pictures changes everything ... with the space capsule docked in front and the rocket engine on the aft end of the space station, it's no longer a mediocre modular space station, instead it's a splendid deep-space vessel for a great price. I want to send that ship to Jupiter or Saturn. Heck, maybe send it to Pluto. Oh the places you'll go! -
Edit - I don't know what I'm talking about, so I won't speculate about anything.

[MOC] Ferrari F40 1:10 Redux
icm replied to lnteknik's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'm not a Technic builder, so I don't have a truly informed opinion about how @Inteknik's F40 compares to @jorgeopesi's version ... but judging from what's been posted in this thread about the similarities and differences between the two models, I think the OP's 2022 model bears about as much resemblance to Jorgeopesi's 2014 model as, say, the 2021 X-wing Fighter set bears to the 2012 X-wing Fighter set. They both treat the same source material at the same scale using the same building system. They share just one major design element (the shifter mechanism for the F40s, the nose taper geometry for the X-wings), but in every other respect the build is completely different except for the inevitable similarities from using the same system to build the same thing at the same scale. Inteknik has done a great job with his MOC and it's demeaning to call it shameful profiteering off another person's work. Here's another analogy: the 1965 Ford Mustang and the 1965 Ford Falcon shared the same platform and the same engine, but they were emphatically not the same car. Same thing here: Inteknik's model shares the same shifter mechanism as Jorgeopesi's model, but that doesn't mean it's just Jorgeopesi's model with improved paneling. So, kudos to Inteknik for a great model, for explaining in detail which attributes are inspired by other models and which are not, and for sharing the Studio file. But, like I said, I'm not a Technic builder and I don't really know all that much about cars, so feel free to completely ignore my two cents .... -

https://www.polygon.com/features/22891555/lego-star-wars-the-skywalker-saga-has-led-to-extensive-crunch-at-tt-games Interesting read about the culture at TT Games. No Activision-style sexual misconduct, but lots of crunch time during development. -
Oh good, I was wondering how soon someone would do this. Now let's see it in the brick!
-
I predict the 90th anniversary set will be a group of vignettes from different themes, so there's something for everybody but there isn't a big thing for anybody.
-
That's the 31109 Creator 3 in 1 Pirate Ship from 2020.

LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
icm replied to Lyichir's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I'd be happy to have a $130 version of the RDA Space Shuttle or a microscale version of the RDA Starship from Avatar, but those don't seem likely to me. Has the leaker said anything about set numbers and prices? -
It isn't meant to be, per se, but it ends up being the perfect Lego Space version of the snowspeeder from Star Wars. Next you need to make a Spyrius walker for your little squadron to take on!
-
Very nicely done. If you hadn't said it was "built with only parts on hand" I never would have guessed.
