LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 22. Rumors and discussion
icm replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
No, "Horse and Groom" is a reasonable name according to accepted use of the words in this context. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groom_(profession) -
That makes sense. Seems like a good reason to me.

The 2x2 corner wedge tiles have been around for a few years now, but they're still somewhat rare. Edit, Bricklink link: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=35787#T=C -
LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion

You mean besides what the winning entry was, the kid playing with cardboard boxes in a bedroom? -
@Celloguy - Thanks! My digital models for these don't have wing stripes at all, because there was no room to lay them flush in a nice clean wing that's only two plates thick. Instead of having yellow and black stripes on the wing, I gave each ship a yellow pinstripe around the aft fuselage and gave the 928 black grille parts on the aft fuselage. It was only when building the physical models that I decided they needed that splash of color on the wings after all, but I'm short on black and yellow tiles to try a lot of options. PS - Your 928 spaceship + signal shack is supposed to be 98% buildable from Bricks and Pieces, right? About how much would it cost to order all the parts from B&P for that one?

My two cents: Don't read too much into the Classic-inspired logo on the 2022 City Space sets. It doesn't "mean" anything, it's just a fun nod to the past. Besides, it isn't the actual Classic Space logo, because it has a blue planet instead of a yellow moon. Lego has been putting Classic-inspired logos on Space or Space-adjacent sets for a while. Heck, the Monkie Kid Moonbase has a Classic-inspired logo, only it's a rabbit swooshing around a cake!

I agree that the new City space cockpit looks a lot like the old Millennium Falcon cockpit piece from set 7190 in the year 2000 (also from Solar Explorer, set 7315, year 2001), but I doubt there's a $160 Millennium Falcon coming in 2022. Brickset doesn't list a retirement date for 75257 ($160, 2019, Rise of Skywalker version), so it's going to be sold until at least June of 2022. Also, in keeping with the downscaled sets from 2021, I would expect the next Falcon to be $100-$120 and quite a bit smaller in build size.

Thanks, I'm glad you like them :)

Hi all - I usually just post renders of my digital designs on Flickr, but this last month or so I finally bit the bullet and ordered enough parts from Bricklink to actually build the group of Classic Space remakes that I started working on in Studio way back in the fall of 2016. It's been long enough! And having really built these in the brick makes them worth a Eurobricks topic post, methinks. I wrote about some of the design goals for these builds on Flickr, so rather than pasting a wall of text here I'll just link to Flickr. What do you think of them? Thanks for looking! (Sorry for the potato quality photos, I don't have a good photo setup at home.) 2022 Friends Rumours, Leaks, Information And Discussion
icm replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in LEGO Town
The winch-driven elevator in the Friends treehouse is pretty cool. There's also a winch-driven elevator in the 60351 rocket launch pad. The Friends treehouse as one of the Friends in a space camp outfit, which lends weight to the rumor that there's a Friends space camp set we haven't seen pictures of yet. Edit, never mind. It's not a space camp outfit, it's a beekeeping suit.- 136 replies

Lego City 2022 Rumours, Leaks, Information And Discussion

It's the meatball on the top of the rocket, and the worm on the sides of the boosters. There are actually pictures of 60350 on Brickset too now, we're just missing 60348 and 60349. -

Hi-res pictures of 60351 are on Brickset, but there aren't any pictures of 60348, 60349, or 60350 yet. An interesting detail on 60351 is that the rocket has a NASA sticker on it. This is the first time since the very first Town space shuttle back in 1990 that a Town/City minifig-playscale Space set has explicitly had NASA stickers or printing. Lego has always been pretty open that Town and City Space is inspired by NASA (Space Shuttle, SLS, etc), but usually the logos on the stickers or prints of the actual sets don't represent any real-world space agency. Edit, and sure enough as predicted, the astronaut minifigures in 60351 are the same as the minifigures in the Artemis educational promotion that were revealed/leaked some time ago. -

Someone else has probably pointed it out already, but the helicopters have a new nose piece that uses the same dual-molding process as in the 60262 Passenger Jet for larger windows than in the old City helicopter nose piece. -
And it's got those nice new nougat hulls from the Bowser Airship ... I might want to get me one or two of those for the hull alone, unless it can be found on Bricks and Pieces ....

Lego City 2022 Rumours, Leaks, Information And Discussion
icm replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
60351 looks like a fun playset and a good model of SLS, but it doesn't look like $170. Only 1010 pieces for that price? I'd normally say a rocket like that would be a must-buy, but I think I'm going to wait for a steep discount on this one. I can see that as a $120 set, given the usual high PPP of City and the fact that it has the new rocket cockpit piece in dark orange and the observatory dome pieces, but no way is that $170. The 60229 from 2019 had a lot more "volume of stuff" and 1050 pieces for $150, and it was still way overpriced. -

The shape of the cockpit of the lander vehicle in the 60350 Moonbase reminds me of the old windscreen used in 7190 Millennium Falcon from 2000 and 7315 Solar Explorer from 2001. I wonder if it's time to try a modern update of 7315? Unfortunately, the 60350 part looks extremely specialized and it might not be possible to use in a Solar Explorer remake. We'll see. I can't wait for pictures of 60348, 60349, and 60351. -
Which Lego YouTube channels are best these days?
icm replied to Lego Mike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The crisis was that COPPA came into force, which basically requires that he shows his face all the time and talks for more time because if it's just a video about the toys without him in the picture, it's automatically flagged as a video "for kids" and demonetized with comments locked. He wouldn't get any money from videos if that happened. The Patreon personal branding is a secondary income stream in response to COPPA that provides a cushion in case YouTube flags a video in its infinite wisdom and won't negotiate. -

Since the 2019 rockets were based on SLS and (vaguely) Soyuz, and in the meantime Falcon 9 with Crew Dragon has flown with five crews, and Super Heavy with Starship has been officially selected by NASA for a crewed lunar landing, I wonder if we'll finally get a SpaceX-inspired rocket after so many rejections on Ideas. -

It'll be interesting to compare and contrast the $170 City rocket with launch pad and the $100 (?) Monkie Kid rocket with launch pad. -
Doesn't look so bad to me.

Same for me. I'm glad I'm not the only one to see it broken, not that I'm glad to see Bricklink broken but because it means the problem isn't malware on my computer or my phone. Chrome on Android, Chrome on MacOS, and Safari on MacOS all show the same problems.

What a neat spaceship! Totally looks like it could be a set circa 2021. I'd sure buy it. Really good job keeping the look and feel of the original set, while using modern parts and set building standards, and swapping out a totally 1980s play feature (the cargo bay in the back) for a totally 2020s play feature (a giant robot with lots of joints). I think it's especially cool how the cockpit is "held" by the robot hand, even if it's actually a firm clip connection that keeps it on rather than just the grip of the fingers.

Given that China is now a major space power and that the Monkey stories have always involved traveling at incredible speeds and heights to distant lands via cloud, a Monkey Kid rocket doesn't strike me as too much more of a stretch than, say, a mobile base in the form of a gigantic mechanical spider.
