DC Superheroes 2020 - Rumors & Discussion
Digger of Bricks replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
OMG, do I see Trans-Yellow canopy and windshield recolors?!!! -
Love it, love it, LOVE IT!!! Excellent job with all of these, my immediate favorites have to be the Ingenue and your Video Game Heroine... Oooooh, really?! Would you perhaps plan on taking pics by any chance? Well, either way, I do hope @Peppermint_M comes by if she hasn't already to check these out... I'll take those six seasons of a Pulp Adventure inspired Netflix series too please! Seriously, I don't know why we don't see many studios nowadays tapping into that genre...

Damn, that Pirate Ship really does not disappoint upon closer look... ...heck, it might as well be an Expert set it's that good, and a couple years ago I would've never expected the first outright "Classic-themed" Three-In-One set to be as excellent as this (even its two alternate builds look superb)! Oh, and that Space Rover? Not bad at all (its alternate builds too look awesome)! It's undoubtedly Sci-Fi for sure rather than near-future "NASA" Space; and while I would've wished for something a little more colorful more on the "Classic" side of things, I'm sure that all-new Classic Spaceman figure accompanying it shows there's promise for further successor sets afterwards that could lean closer towards a more colorful palette.

Horror/Spooky Themes
Digger of Bricks replied to Harkonen's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Exactly! To me, taking after Lovecraft's work just sounds like a good excuse for a 1920's "Adventurers" theme with a Stranger Things-esque bent. Well, that is pretty much what Pharaoh's Quest had done, which counts as an "Adventurers" theme alongside Monster Fighters outside of the original Adventurers anthology of subthemes with Johnny Thunder. -

Well, when you think about it though, how much more supernatural could an Adventurers theme get than it already has? -
LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion

Ah bummer, I was kinda hoping there'd be a cool new Aviator/Aviatrix torso print introduced with one of the Airport sets... -
Official pics of a few of City's summer sets are out, and there's at least one new recolor I see in the flagship Airport set... PromoBricks - LEGO City Summer Sets 2020: Pictures and Information

Horror/Spooky Themes
Digger of Bricks replied to Harkonen's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Oooooh, a period-set Cryptid Hunters theme?! That I can totally get behind... ...say, what if such a theme had younger protagonists more like Hidden Side, a Junior Monster Fighters if you will? Imagine a premise that'd essentially be Hal Roach's Little Rascals meets Disney's Gravity Falls, with a rag-tag gang of Depression-Era street urchins tracking down and capturing legendary cryptids in appalachian backwoods with their junkyard contraptions, all the while trying to evade G-Men, Moonshiners, Cthulhuian Cultists, and Nazi Saboteurs. * * Well, at least coded versions of such... Well, they needn't directly base such a theme off of Lovecraft's work, just merely use it as inspiration. Right? -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
Digger of Bricks replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
This is likely because the kids already have City and enjoy opportunities to add to it. It is not always to the CMFs' benefit that they offer such unique characters. Not everyone is a MOCer, and of those who are, not everyone can visualize a scene from scratch without being inspired by an official set or theme. CMFs that don't belong to an existing theme can be great, but some people might view them as "orphans" with nowhere to go. I've said this before (and perhaps the last time not too long ago), but in regards to representing "City" archetypes, I think the Collectable Minifigure theme should opt for takes on those occupations that are set back just a few recent decades rather than making them straight-up contemporary. The City theme can always give you a more contemporary version, whereas CMFs of those same archetypes could have a slightly more vintage vibe about them for differentiation, all the while still being able to be slipped into a modern "City" setting without standing-out too much. -

Oh my, that actually looks kinda sick... Is that supposed to be Sally's hairpiece from Disney Series 2 recolored? -
Just a few more "covers" I've been listening to more recently...

Horror/Spooky Themes
Digger of Bricks replied to Harkonen's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I've expressed this elsewhere in the past, but the kinda "spooky" theme I've set my hopes on seeing is a Lovecraftian, Pulp/Noir redux of Monster Fighters set around the 1920's or '30s (because, of course)... ...other than that though, I'd also be up for another "spooky" theme with kids/teens as the main protagonists, though their adversaries should be much more diverse than Hidden Side's focus on ghosts. -

Yes. Justice Society is one of the best superhero teams ever. I love them to death and wish Lego would make them all. Stargirl and Jay Garrick are not enough. Right Now we have Hawkgirl, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Stargirl, Hawkman (Kinda), and enough parts to make a kinda ok Alan Scott. I have made purist customs of close to 30 JSA and All-Star Squadron members, so I am just waiting for official figures, or at least a yellow hood for Hourman. Golden Age, Silver Age, Justice Society, and other "vintage" characters and variants are absolutely the way to go for further Series, because why waste CMF slots on modern incarnations that'll most likely reappear in playsets shortly afterwards? Sorta as they did with Jay Garrick, I'd like it if Lego gave his costume design a bit more of a Pulp/Noir touch, kinda like this illustration...

Exactly, CM4Sci‘s on his A-game with these Dang, now I really want them to make another set! Maybe I misremember things, but didn’t they slyly hint at more sets last year? Well, here's his Starcourt Mall playset concept, which ain't that bad

Inspirational Modular and Castle MOCs
Digger of Bricks replied to LegoModularFan's topic in LEGO Town
This has some great techniques in it as a potential future set, hope there are any chances of it reaching 10K supporters and getting approved even though a great similar idea got recently approved... Oh, I forgot to also mention @Ben Pitchford's other recent project, which has a pretty similar structural build and color scheme... LEGO Ideas - Medieval Dock House- 817 replies

Recently, I checked out Disney's ill-fated The Lone Ranger from 2013 for the very first time. Oh yeah, it's got its issues, but that train chase finale was just too much fun, thanks in no small part to Zimmer's rendition of the William Tell Overture scoring it...

Digger of Bricks replied to LegoModularFan's topic in LEGO Town
Well, for that matter, a part of me does wonder if any further projects with a Medieval European theme that end-up achieving support might have a harder time getting approved due to that forementioned Blacksmith's Shop... Speaking of such, as of this post, the next up-and-coming project to be achieving support is an architectural one... LEGO Ideas - Ruined House by kirteem- 817 replies
