  1. Hmm, the prelim image had the switch on the other side in the gap between the lime green panels. They might have changed it since prelim I guess? I wonder if the entire top (white + lime parts + black top) pivots on the blue pins that the black 3x6x3 panels are secured by to get the battery box out? Might explain the poor alignment of the lime panels?
  2. 300USD == 255EUR at the moment, so EU folk are doing better here.
  3. The knob on the counterweight shifts it forward and back along the rack - probably a worm gear given everything else is direct-drive as possible (the 3 large LAs are all direct drive). The shaft is steering - notice it ends up where the shaft for steering is for the front. Agreed that some sort of simultaneous movement would have been way cooler.
  4. Ah, sorry @Gnac - I thought you were referring to someone mentioning that the red ones on 42080 were the wrong way around, rather than the DBG ones at the back of 42047. My bad :)
  5. Yes, I think that's exactly it. The lower and upper panels are only connected to the bent liftarms at the top for the top panel and bottom for the bottom panel. Nice find :) I don't think it's a traditional piston engine inside, as there doesn't seem to be a differential or space for an axle at the rear or front. There's a bit of green seen in one of the photos inside the front of the counterweight by the looks.
  6. And one DBG 11x3 panel. Thanks! They were left in another container I forgot to count! :)
  7. The red 11214's are just the way I'd expect them to be. Standard build technique. Why are they the wrong way around? Seems to be just bunched up on top of the DBG panel. Weird. I guess just to help tie down logs to cut them up?
  8. The sticker on the box on the right says chains, the one on the left says tools. So I guess a bit of both?
  9. The cabin rotates (notice the large turntable held by the red 3L pins with bushes) which is why that white beam looks like it's an angle. This was all seen in the prelim image ages ago. EDIT: Ah, you mean the one running between the wheels. That is odd. I presume all the steering is linked. I wonder if the cabin rotates together with front wheels and articulation point all at once?
  10. Thanks! By the looks the orange connector at the rear folds up with the stickered panel (panel folds up towards the center?) while the one at the front is connected to the DBG panel on the side. I guess neither orange connector is fixed to the bent liftarms?
  11. Do you have the link to the super-hires photo @Omikron?
  12. Not sure why this was deleted, I guess because they can just be placed on rebrickable? I've added 42069B https://rebrickable.com/sets/42069-1-b1/offroad-research-vehicle/#parts
  13. By the looks 2 large LAs (one for the boom, one to swing the back wheels up and down to wedge the rear end up). The bucket and a gear rack like from 42043 (driven by a worm by the looks) and a bunch of black 5x7 frames, but nothing really jumping out here. All the functions are direct drive by the looks and essentially no complexity. I can't see how the steering is done at the back - could be via linkage instead of rack? Front steering is standard - no Ackermann. Reasonably nice collection of parts maybe, but nothing very exciting. Looks pretty neat though. Think I'll get 42030 instead :)
  14. Yup, superstructure rotation. Seems there is some sort of ball between the two XL turntables. Seems there's lots of small details, so not too surprising that it's hitting 4000 pieces.
  15. This really is in my view the pinnacle of RC technic. Really enjoyed reading your progress in the WIP topic, and the end result is incredible. I know it's not going to be any comparison, but would this still perform even half as good with the usual AAA battery box? As good an advert as this is for the Buwizz (really, they should be cutting you a cheque) I still can't justify the cost :(
  16. It's some sort of light/beacon made of 1x1 stud in trans green on 1x1 stud in white, then something like a black 2x2 round dish piece (but I suspect it's some sort of lamp shade type piece). Connected to a pole made of 2L connectors and 4L axle in black. My guess is it can be placed on the black 3L (or thereabouts) rod piece in each corner.
  17. I think Milan Reindl also uses OK on aircraft (42040, 42052) - it's Czech airlines code, but I don't think he's used that on any non-aircraft models, so Olav Kroigaard seems most likely. Olav also did 42053. Not sure what other sets he's done - a share of 42054 maybe as it had an OK sticker as well?
  18. Yeah, I think you're right re the bionicle piece being a mode switch - the label on the right looks like the crane arm, and the one on the left could well be designating the outriggers/base. @arijitdas Where are you getting Markus Kossman from? The sticker seems to possibly be OK (the letters overlap)? Further, the XL turntable is clearly black, not DBG. The panelling and ladder in DBG are clearly different (the lighter shade on the XL turntable is just reflection of the white it sits on.
  19. Good spotting. Looks like a white tile with labelling on it, so yeah, it seems like another feature. Could be lifting of the cabin maybe? My guess is slew is still on the base (left hand side). They've got the power feed through the turntable, so it makes sense IMO. The storage of the pads (my guess is there's 4 of them) in the front is 6 studs wide between the 2L pinhole+axle beams, so I think they're probably 6x6 plates.
  20. A couple of questions: 1. How much iteration (if any) there is between designer + building instruction people. i.e. once the designer is done with it, is it further refined based on feedback from instruction makers (e.g. to reduce or replace parts, improve build process etc?) 2. How much iteration is there between designers? Often I see different building techniques in different models (i.e. clear influence of the lead designer) but I wonder if other designers have much influence in design elements. 3. I think this was mentioned earlier, but I'd really love to see images/video - even digital models - of how designs evolved. Some of the best threads on here are the WIP ones, and I imagine LEGO must have some excellent stories about how specific models are refined through time.
  21. Nice new pics. Can't see any suspension, and the wheels are reasonably close to the arches. There's the new 7x3x2 curved panel in red (4 of them probably?) and by the looks 8 of the large curved pieces for the turntable from the BWE. Very cool.
  22. The second picture clearly shows they're 3x11. Looks awesome.
  23. Of the above I've only ever had the 2L perpendicular connectors (either axle/axle or axle/pinhole) do it. None of the others. Yellow is worse for the axle+pinhole connector, though they're my oldest parts probably (from 8069, bought second hand) and the older ones feel a bit more brittle than similarly aged ones in other colours (black/LBG). The only other parts I've had crack are 5x3x0.5 triangles (old style) in yellow - again, older ones from 8069, bought second hand (so I suspect the set was left made up for long periods, and where they are in the set would have some stress on them). I don't think I've had a single bush crack, except for really old ones (30+ years old) and it's still rare. I definitely haven't had anything more recent than 2014 crack, though I've noticed a few of the (mostly yellow, though I've had a couple black ones) axle/pinhole cross blocks have been very thin in cross section - i.e. you can almost see through part of the bush segment at the top. I'm in NZ, but have a bunch of parts and some sets from EU/UK - haven't noticed any difference.
  24. Just took this one apart yesterday - been built for about 6-8 weeks I think. It's a bit of a puzzle to take sections of it apart, particularly a month or two after building as I'd forgotten the order it went together. When taking apart, order is pretty important due to all the form locking that Milan designed into it. :) I'm looking forward to building the B model next - it's a nice unique build (reminds me a bit of a Hägglund)
