Hi all! For those that have a copy of this kit, how many bags come in the box? I bought one from eBay and picked it up the other day, but the factory seals were loose on one end. The seller assures me that everything is there, just want to double-check, that's all! I'm not allowed to build it until my birthday which is another six weeks away, so I can't find out that way until then. There certainly was a lot of stuff in the box, just covering all bases. Can't wait to build it! TIA!

Hi there! What sort of motor is used to run the train on the rail? Although the motors between this and modern train sets are different, can the monorail's engine be easily incorporated into the Infra Red remote setup?

I think that the sand green 2 x 1 bricks with the slot cut out of them from Green Grocer are a bit harder to come by. (Happy to be corrected if I'm wrong! )

This MOC is exquisite!! Well done sir!!

These are fantastic!! I prefer the fishmonger's over the bakery, I think the colour scheme and the interior are better, although the kitchen in the bakery is better. Well done!!

How do you display your modular building collection?
marvinblue replied to yanathin's topic in LEGO Town
I agree, although setting them up like this allows for maximum portability. If I attach the buildings to the road plates, they don't fit into the boxes I have for them when I transport them. I have seen some relly nice-looking brick built roads though. -
Hi there! A little while ago I copied legoman666's design for his tram as I really liked his setup. Since then, I've added set 8870 to light up the front headlight on my tram. The pictures are located at http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=554696 The floor in the front was reduced to a 6 x 2 red plate and one passenger seat. I added the black 4 x 1 to hold down the wires a little under the window line and chose the colour black to try and blend it with the windows and wires. I also had to move the driver back from the controls by two studs to allow the lights to be installed, but he can still drive the tram, so it's all good! Comments and critisims are welcome and if anyone wants any more pics of a partiular item, please feel free to contact me.

My Dad is having the same issues with 60052. We've tried checking the spacing of the wheels (as mentioned above) and have also taken the rubber bands off the non-powered bogey to help to reduce friction. I think that the batteries that he bought are a little dodgey (not delivering full power). We're going to try some fresh batteries in the very near future. I've also noticed that the train engine is quite heavy and seems to stuggle really badly pulling the whole train. I reckon that it's a power output problem.

City Layout - Inspired by Los Angeles, California

This looks absolutely fantastic!! I love it! Where did the upper torsos for the Police come from? Are they your own design or an aftermarket accessory? -
That looks really cool! Well done!

List your favourite modulars in order of preference, and explain why?
marvinblue replied to glendo's topic in LEGO Town
I don't own them all, so firstly I'll rate what I have: 1) PR, I just love it! 2) GG, was a hard choice between the two, but for me, PR won out. 3) FB, I'm a firefighter by trade, so it had to be right up there!! 4) PS, I like the fact that you can seperate the two and the different coloured buildings are cool! 5) GE. I really like having the retail outlet in my City, but was a bit repetitive for me. As for the others, I would rate them like this; 6) TH, 7) PC, 8) CC. These buildings didn't appeal to me at all. I do like the details within TH and PC, but I didn't feel that they'd fit into my City. I also have Town Plan, so I already have a Cinema and Town Hall. As for CC, I couldn't justify the asking price for a facade, no detail inside whatsoever. On the plus side though, this does allow the owner to do their own internal fitout. -
How do you display your modular building collection?
marvinblue replied to yanathin's topic in LEGO Town
My Modulars have pride of place in my Main St, where the kiddies can't get to them!! Having my City in a garage does mean a bit of dusting though... I'm going to reverse my PR, as I find the upper deck gets lost between the buildings. Lastly, on display for their photocalls!! -

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
marvinblue replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
"That's part of what makes the rumor of a Detective Office so believable. So many of them seem to have an almost vintage movie feel about them. And you can easily see either of our two previous Modular designers, Jamie or Astrid just falling in love with a Film Noir story like that. Maltese Falcon, Phillip Marlowe, Chinatown and even a touch of Who Framed Roger Rabbit? (This is Lego after all.) once you think of them the set practically designs itself. Upstairs two room detective office over a small hot smelly business. Next door to a cheap motel with one of those vertical signs with a broken letter. The hard boiled detective. The spunky gal Friday. The femme fatal. Peter Lorre. a black bird. Possible architecture styles Art Deco, New Orleans or Savanna style French Quarter iron trappings or a dense Chinatown feel. Just thinking about it you can practically smell it." - Faefrost I totally agree with this statement with regards to the architecture of most of the modulars. I recently visited Movie World on the Gold Coast in Australia. Most of the façade in the Main Street look like these buildings and I couldn't help thinking that they would make great modular buildings. As for the rest of the statement, I can just about taste it! (I hit the quote button but it didn't work properly, hence the weird looking post!) -
Well done on your MOC! It looks fantastic! Does your boom tip (the ladder part holding the bucket) have the ability to fold up underneath itself? If so, it might be possible to recreate the aerial appliances we have here in Australia. Do you have any other detailed shots of this area of your model?

Hi there mifody. I love the way you've made the modules to click together to create the overall scene. I also love the amount of detail that you've packed into all the small spaces in the Police Station. Keep up the great work!!!
