[TC15[ Motorized BiCopter
Rudivdk replied to Zerobricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Where the f*** did this come from, truly some stealthy competition here !! Some very innovative and smart mechanical parts in there, I especially love the controlmixer joystick in the cab (by far the smallest and smartest I have seen)! And the rotation regulator ratchet is also really cleverly done. For my personal taste the looks are just ok, but your functionalities more than make up for that! Welcome to the party- 16 replies

[TC15] Skycrane helicopter
Rudivdk replied to Erik Leppen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Nice to see this one finished as well, I was afraid you had abandoned it after the long silence... Really cool rotor head with the blade pitch in six-blade layout. That probably creates an extra challenge over two or four blades (never built it myself, but it looks more difficult with the 60º angle between the blades). Colors work well together, and overall build is impressive. Your approach with the studded beams payed off, the body looks really solid and there's no sagging at all. I also like that container lock mechanism, works well! I was watching the video (from your contest entry post) and thinking: how can it stand so stable on those thin transparent supports". Then the blooper . -
Haha that's funny, I was struggling with the controls for my variable prop pitch and almost abandoned it altogether, but since you had it from day one and even with cockpit-control, I pushed myself to include it and settled for the current solution in the end. Guess we made each others builds better without even realizing it.

That stepper is indeed nice and very compact, I remember seeing it on YT a while ago. I do wonder though how well it will perform when a full gearbox mechanism is attached (added friction stress/resistance from moving the driving rings and changeover catches etc.), the whole mechanism seems not very well equipped for heavy duty stepping... Only way to find out is to build it

Nice! Looks good and seems to work flawlessly. Great build! <rant> Seeing you work that crank really makes me think back of the good old studded era. Why are there no cranks on modern sets anymore... A crank instead of those double bevel gears would make some of the controls so much more user friendly. <\rant>

[TC15] Sikorsky S-64

Great that you managed in time, looks good! -
From the TC15 general topic, rules about the MOC discussion topic: A discussion topic needs to show some actual progress (i.e. pictures of the build in progress) and should NOT be used to "reserve an idea". In your case the topic is not used to 'reserve an idea' which I think is the main reason for this rule, so you might be OK there... Judges decision I guess? That aside, I really like this build, for the looks but also the subject matter itself. I think it is the only (active) pre-WW II era entry in the contest so far. Looking forward to seeing all its functions in the video

Is that Sheepo's Mustang in blue? -
I see it is also featured in the Netherlands (below site is not owned nor maintained by me): https://www.autoblog.nl/nieuws/deze-stratos-kun-je-maken-van-je-lego-911-gt3-rs-120343?amp=1 The post gives proper credits and links to the original on Rebrickable, so I don't see any harm... Nice exposure @Pleasedontspammebro!

[TC15] AH-77S - HUNTER
Rudivdk replied to steph77's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I was able to build it without the ring-with-4-balljoints part, replacing it with a 8880 hub part. Had to do some small changes to make it fit and it might be a bit less smooth, but it eliminates 1 rare part... If anyone is interested, I can make and share some pictures of my changes -
The Fus Do Rah title drawed me in here Massive fan of the TES series, and I really like this diorama of it. Captures the vibe of Skyrim really well! Very cool building techniques as well, never seen anything like it before. Great build!

[MOC] Kenworth T800 tridem
Rudivdk replied to ArsMan064's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Oh wow, I only just now realize that this is created with the 49mm tires. Makes it an even better build in my opinion, I love small scale builds. This one has really great looks, it doesn't tell it's scale from first look. Well done! -
I had great fun building this model, and I wish every contestant all the best in the final voting. Thanks to everyone who has been supporting and following me during development of this MOC, special thanx to @I_Igor for your close support and motivation! Contest entry post: ============== WHITE LIGHTNIN' Lockheed Martin P-38 Lightning When the design started in 1937, the twin-boomed P-38 was to be the most innovative plane of its day. On its official introduction in 1940, it found itself amongst the best performing fighters in the world. Its versatility and ruggedness became legendary. Before the end of WW2, it had been nicknamed "fork-tailed devil" by the Germans and for good reason. It was the best fighter plane in the WW2 skies, making short work of it's opponents: in the air, on the ground and in the waters. The Lightning’s legacy is unmatched, a total of more than 10,000 P-38s were manufactured. One specific example of this beautiful airplane was the 1944 manufactured P38L5LD (SN #44‑53254), known as White Lightnin', which was seen at many airshows in the period after WW II. This specific version is the inspiration for my TC15 contest Entry. I don't have much experience with Bricklink, I got my entire collection from buying sets. So I can't be of much help there unfortunately... As for your build: looks very good sofar, could be official TLG set! Hope you get your parts supply sorted before the deadline, good luck!! -

Technic Hall of Fame Discussion
Rudivdk replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
@Jim, @Milan I was scrolling through the Hall of Fame and noticed the top3 of TC14 was not (yet) added. Also some of the last nominations in this discussion topic seem to be unanswered. Is there some issue with (updating) the HoF? Not blaming anyone, just politely asking about it. -
Nice! I like the subtle final tweaks, makes the model just that little bit more consistent. A worthy studless successor Good to see the entries finished one by one, looks like we will have a good number of contestants.
