  1. Perhaps an old 9v micro motor might fit, and then run a wire to the battery box. But even without motorization, this is a cool funny little MOC. The level of detail is quite deep, and of course smart use of the bucket. This kind of re-use of function-defined parts make me want to sit down at my collection, pull a few random parts out of there and start building something totally freestyle... Best ideas are born like this.
  2. After saving my work yesterday, I re-opened the files and continued working on the instructions today. I did not change any of the steps I finished yesterday, but still I found that the PLI image of the static cable had disappeared from the instructions (leaving an empty PLI box with '1x' text inside and the '20cm' textbox floating in mid-air) and could not get it to load again... So I ended up re-creating the static cable inside my model .mpd as an in-file .ldr submodel. Worked like a charm. Not a big issue, just thought I'd share this info.
  3. Years back I got 8435 and 8436 for around €100. The deal also included 10018. I had no interest in Star Wars, so I tore 10018 apart and stuffed it away. Turns out that one is worth at least €600 to €700 nowadays...
  4. Street work truck could be something like a cement mixer (google search gives all kinds of results, including trucks with a drum on the back and a crane-like arm on it). Than its just the numbers *12 and *13 the wrong way around compared to that source. That Lambo is dark orange/almost red. Remember the 'red with wingdoors' rumor from awhile ago? Seems plausible...
  5. Thanx @roland, I will try the loose .ldr/substitute option first. Should I save that inside my main .mpd, or somewhere outside as a separate file, or should it specifically be inside the parts folder of my LDraw root?
  6. Hi all, let me give a short intro before jumping straight to my question: I am currently building a model in LDCad and I'm creating instructions for it in LPub3D (with LDView as renderer). One of the parts I am using is the Power Functions 20cm extension wire (as a submodel .ldr inside my main .mpd). Inside LDCad I have been able to create the full wire from a template, I have routed the correct path for the wire through my model, and I have attached the correct connectors to both ends (1 PF, 1 PF/9V). But when I am creating instructions, LPub3D shows the 'routed' submodel (with all the weird angles in the cable and rotated connectors) in the partslist (PLI) for that step, instead of a plain picture of the 20cm cable. I have been looking further and found that the partnumber for the 20cm wire with 1PF and 1 PF/9V connector is 60656 (see also link above), but I have not been able to locate that part in my parts list, nor did I find it in the LDraw.org parts tracker (official and unofficial). Same for the 50cm PF cable with partnumber 58118. My question is: Are these parts even available in LDraw, and if so, where can I get them? I can work around it for now by just putting the 'routed' wire in my PLI, and I will put some text block besides it stating this is the 20cm cable, but my OCD compels me to keep looking for the correct visual representation for these parts... Thanks in advance!
  7. 42111 entertainer was earlier mentioned as some kind of fairground mixer. I don't think it will have anything to do with F&F...
  8. Well, it seems that 42112 and 42113 (either setnumbers or descriptions) got swapped compared to last year info (previously 42112 was mentioned as 'air' and 42113 was 'truck', only later to be specified as 'sort of cherry picker' which could now be switched to B-model) ... so on high level it still looks to be pretty much accurate information.
  9. Oohh, I got two buggy motors laying around eating dust... and I have 9398... a perfect reason to finally spend some bucks on a buwizz or 2
  10. Thanx, that was exactly my tought as well, but I was a bit unsure how well this would be received by the 'paying' end... I know your feeling about the pics, but I am nowhere near your skill in photography, so I am really happy with the pics
  11. @LegoFanaat1975: welcome to Eurobricks. To make your presence here as pleasant as possible, please try to follow our forums rules and regulations. As this is an international forum, inside the public topics we communicate in English only. Please disable auto-translate before posting your replies... 12. Long overdue, but as I promised about a year ago, I will create building instructions for this MOC. Work is in progress. I finished the digital build with rough stepping sequence for the instructions. Now the fine tuning begins... Here is the preliminary parts list (99,9% final): https://rebrickable.com/users/Rudivdk/lists/62367/. Part count is a little over 2000 parts, a few rare-ish parts but nothing too shocking. I used a PF rechargable battery box, but the PF AAA batterybox also fits, and I guess also a Buwizzz would fit (not that you need the remote control, but still...). For the cover of the instructions, I have a nice surprise: when picking up the contest prize last year, I had some pictures taken by @Jim in the very same studio where all the magnificent review photo's are taken (WAAY better quality than I could ever dream of making myself): And finally a glimpse of what the instructions are going to look like: As it is a lot of work, I am considering asking a small fee (something between €3 to €5) for the instructions, please let me know what you think about that.
  13. +1. I would even add a 1l bush (or cross beam or something 1l) between the frame and the axlejoiner on the 4l axle, so the axlejoiner/gear/1l bush are locked either way inside the frame.
  14. Same for me, 8207 was also my first Technic set and I felt overwhelmed by it's functions back then (coming from 'Town' theme with hardly any 'functions' in those sets). IMHO these kind of small sets (mini Claas also) are what Technic is about for little kids who are getting started in Technic: small so reasonably quick to build so they don't get bored halfway through, few but realistic functions so easy to play, and recognizable enough to represent a (near) reallife thing.
  15. I always put them at 53° So actually I'm 0.13° off...
  16. @Didumos69 we actually have the Technic Index page for that, including a section for 'notable topics'. The index needs dome severe maintenance/updating, something I started planning awhile ago but it never got off the ground properly due to life taking my time away from LEGO lately.... I will see if I can pick up on that again sometime soon.
  17. I've seen this on YT some time ago, but then he only got it flying for less then a second and only few cm in the air. Was posted as POC only back then. Cool to see he finished it properly. Still a lot of money spend though on mostly non-lego electronics...
  18. Very cool! Was also playing around with walkers myself recently, I started way simpler though. This one looks really nasty with those long legs, and as already mentioned the sudden acceleration does the trick.
  19. I haven't seen it, but I would guess something similar to turntables or wheel hubs... which would mean the red gear is useless for anything else but the diff...
  20. Hi @Danifill welcome to Eurobricks! It is good to see your enthousiasm to get started. However, on Eurobricks it is common habit to only start topics when you have actually built something that you can share, or when you have some direct questions to the members. So if you could show us some of the things you have already created, that would be awesome. And you might wanna read through the 'new members' section on the main forum to see about the do's and don'ts around here. Good luck and have fun on EB!
  21. I fully agree with you there, but we're both adults and have (probably) driven our fair share of cars, so we might be a bit biased there... It could also have been a (TLG?)marketing-driven decision. Anyway, it's good to see that Milan knows how to properly assemble a geartrain to an engine (duh...), so I expect some kind of external requirement towards the Defender setup.
  22. Free building vs license restrictions? Maybe Landrover wanted the engine/gears this way around because kids would link high gear with high speeds and engine speed is the only thing that changes when shifting gears?
  23. I would try to come up with a linkage that needs the 90 degrees on the input side, and only gives the needed amount of movement on the output side. This can be done by connecting a short arm on the servo, and link it to a long(er) arm on the steering arms. Then you also avoid the teeth-offset issue.
  24. Neither do I, in the end every set is a parts pack to me since I never keep them assembled forever. Lately I do notice that I get pickier with sets though, probably because my collection is almost getting out of control (and literally growing out of my room...). So I don't know if I will get me one of these. Depends on the 2H line-up, I decided to only get 1 or two medium/large sets a year from now on and get loose parts through the internet if needed.
