  1. After I found out about the hub part, it indeed feels like the only logical solution for this. Nice to see everyone discussing ideas and feeling good about sharing them with others
  2. Looks good with the linkages. I think this would already be a big improvement over your previous version in terms of responsiveness. Nice compact solution for the ailerons btw.
  3. That is BIG. I was also very much charmed by the white version, it looks great on the plane I think. Feel free to use whatever you want, I would be honored if I can be of inspiration to you
  4. Just a general comment: TC15 rocks! I didn't have as much fun with the hobby since a long time! Thanks for cooking this one up @Jim and other staff/members involved
  5. Check out set 42005. It is a specially designed pair to create a solid axle with strong center pivot allowing to route a drive or steering axle through it. With these pieces, there will be no pivoting stress on the axle inside.
  6. Update time: I am working my way from back to front, I started with rear control surfaces (double rudder and elevator): And a short movie of the control surfaces in action: I have also worked on a variable pitch setup for the props, it is inspired by the designs from @steph77 and @Jeroen Ottens, and turns out to also be quite similar to @Lipko's design. Guess there is only a few ways to achieve this with Lego... After some internet research I found that there actually was an all-white version of the P38, called 'White Lightnin'. So that will be a perfect inspiration for the (mainly white) panels I have available.
  7. Cool, always have a Plan B Good luck with that, hope it works out for you! Edit: just a wild thought... could pneumatics work? Tubes can run through the joint without issue, the cilinders can handle lots of weight without backlash, and with a compressor and airtank in the base structure you always have enough pressure... Might not be what you're looking for, but I thought I'd share the idea.
  8. I believe that linkages are the best way to control airplane surfaces, as they have little backlash and you can span large distances with them. No idea how that would help your build though, running multiple linkages through the joint would be a challenge, and because your plane will move on a single point, it would move the endpoints of a linkage even when not intended... Would it fit somehow if you used these to transfer the movement in the central joint? From all gears they have the least backlash... guess it will explode the size of your joint... Maybe PF would be the only way to go.
  9. Bold decision! Dark ages are one thing, but selling your collection takes some courage...All the best with your other hobby, hope to see you back one day
  10. At this pace you'll be done before xmas... so much for keeping you busy through the winter. But seriously, it's looking beautiful. Are you already planning on the physical build? I'm really interested to see how it performs 'in the brick'...
  11. I am working on a similar variable pitch setup with the wheelhub as well. I took my inspiration from @steph77's helicopter moc. Wouldn't have thought of it myself either.
  12. A real headbreaker... I hope you get it done, it's an excellent model and deserves that playability part. Good luck in solving the puzzle...
  13. @JunkstyleGio lovely renders, especially the show version. @Didumos69 i see a new 'ant colony' thingy coming up
  14. I feel you, have the same issue in my build... Maybe just wire the motor(s) to an external batterybox, as part of a display stand? Could save some space and provide a way to show all functions without having to hold the plane in your hands...
  15. Good to see you active again! That's an impressive list on functionalities you have planned, and it looks like you made good progress implementing them. Good luck with your build, looking forward to next update
  16. Guess I am a bit biassed, but my collection is so large by now that I look at sets mainly from aestetic and parts pack point of view. I have enough parts to create the mechanics, but new panels and such are always interesting to have and when I build from instructions I find it more fun building something that looks good. So from that perspective it ticks all boxes for me. Just my personal opinion.
  17. Looks waaay better than on static pics. Must have for me now
  18. @Xewyz2001 your build is coming together real fast! Nice job so far, functions working real smooth and looks are great. I especially like the jet nozzles, are those space wheels? Don't recognize the parts...
  19. @Ngoc Nguyen thanx for pointing that out, totally missed those in the photo's. Odd parts usage...
  20. Looking back at those B-model pics: front bumper has two ball pieces, but not the one with axle hole all the way through. Wonder what they are used for in A-model, possibly for 'clamping' something at an angle?
  21. For the mixed flaps mechanism, I think you should check out how a tank subtractor works, you could use that principle to control aileron and elevator movement with just 1 pair of flaps.
  22. All these helicopter controls are beyond me... and you go one step further with this build. Already amazed by what you have built... keep it up, you'll make it in time
  23. Guess the only way for you would be to build wire frame, like @Jeroen Ottens 's Millenium Falcon. For pistons I think I will use the 3l axle with stop, and put halfbush on other end. It will move freely, but at least won't fall out when the plane is upside down.
  24. Thanks @I_Igor. I am still in doubt whether to put engines in, will have to be mini engines to be able to fit. I also would've loved to build it in LBG or DBG, but there are just not enough panels available in those colors. Hence the white with medium blue bottom, it is closest to real colors and still looks OK. Hope to see yours soon as well! Real brick mockup: Mr. Technic is a bit shocked by the size...
  25. Looking good, especially with that canopy part. Interesting functions, not like the average airplane. Will be following this one. Good luck!
