Generic Contest Discussion
MangaNOID replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yea totally get that, but With very limited and sporadic building time I was pretty keen to Chill and do some LDD when I did get time even if it ends up a waste of time plus I think I want to build chosen subject anyway even if not fit for the contest. It’s something I would never have built if not for this. That’s why these contests are so good also -
Generic Contest Discussion

I think it would be interesting to see two different approaches to the same build! something that I have chosen already, might be built by someone else also but that’s ok. sounds like a fun contest this one. I have some draft plans today of chosen subject but can’t proceed until the entry topic is more defined of course. Ready to go! -
nice work. I have to comment on the 42042! I was just about to show an update on mine that I finished so seeing this is great! I like the bucket very much! I may even switch to your bucket setup as the motorised claw doesn't pick much up really which is no fun...ah... for the kids ya know. do you still use the L motor? I cannot seem to get enough power to use the L motor anymore for independent track driving after switching to similar manual setup with single motor. I think my motors got wet a bit at sometime so that may be my problem

Sh*it guys, can’t anyone enjoy anything around here without pretentious crap being flown around (pun) sometimes I feel it should be the pretentious technic forum.., yea I’m grumpy, I just turned Vegan and my kid doesn’t like anything I make for dinner I love this RC LEGO helli! Thanks for posting so I could see it

Like I was a bit Weirded out by the two different wheel guards too but then I googled the real one and it’s just like it. Love the suspension! You went that extra bit to replicate as best as one can. Great solution without stressing or loading parts that shouldn’t be. I will build this if I ever get time to LEGO again. Would love to put some of the old foam wheels on it though

I just looked at this again on my PC and realised I can zoom in on your image that's also 3D and movable! I really like the changes and the extras you have on there. I may incorporate some of these when I have time. fuel caps, exhaust, swash plate simulator and I like the undercarriage/landing gear too it looks a lot neater! which is good as you wont have floats to hide it great to see this coming from an engineer working on the actual vehicles.

[MOC] Framework Buggy

Oh yes This is my cup of ‘T’echnic. very nice 👍 -
Great stuff, I’m glad someone has made use of the lx build. I think it was a bit messy as it was my first digital build so not very ‘modular’ to easily work with. I look forward very much to seeing what yours will look like with the changes. the only real building quirk in real life was getting the tail ‘straight’ without sagging in its long length. And yours from the link looks a little different from my real build. It might be the LDD file as that was more of a guide build than a definitive build. You may not need the tip, but take note that you may need to lengthen the gap between the technic bricks like in the photo of my one a couple posts up. The brick may need to come forward to the angle support beam. I can’t remember entirely whether it’s that important but I’m sure your work it out. But those axles are for ‘stretching’ the bricks a little with the half axle bush to Un-sag the tail. I hope you post your topic when it’s done 👍

MangaNOID replied to JintaiZ's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I’m surprised you guys can even make a conversation out of this with the info there is so far But hey if you google 42130 there is Toyota, Hyundai and wedding dress links that come up, so maybe there is a link somewhere -

Thank you @steph77 I agree. I really struggled to get a happy medium on the colours with parts I had. Bricklinking is out at the moment for rush parts, as it took almost 2 weeks for some parts to arrive from just 10 kilometres away from me the other week. but still overall I am very happy with this simple build Thank you also @Seasider I will be building the cargo bike at some stage. I like the concept too much to give that up yet. I’ll keep the chassis together for now but I’ll need to work on that front compound (?) curve area left and right in LDD as that is what mostly stalled me. Plus boxing the front susp to the real handlebars area for a sturdy build. It’s in the ‘to build queue’ good luck to other entrants, can’t wait to try and decide how to vote there are some marvels entered already! -

sorry to say I’ve been a little absent so far in this TC but time gets the better of me at the moment. But I’m finished. It’s not exactly what I hoped for compared to what I started but I just wasn’t going to be able to make the cargo bike as I liked with the time and resources available. So this is what I have finished up with. The colour scheme I could have was limited so I thought it kinda looked like a medical scooter so that’s where I went with it (just) certainly not as complicated or technical as some other builds but it produced some challenges along the way I guess. A couple shots without the dress up garb on it and I think it’s a reasonable looking scooter. Just that the colour doesn’t work for a normal scooter. Chassis There is the ‘E’ motor in there somewhere it’s simple but it all works quite well. -

Probably the last update before entering the contest. I managed to get a few hours the last couple of days so managed some styling And front steering placement. fairly happy, but the front mudguard area is proving tuff. thinking of doing a ‘touring’ version with screen... maybe if I can get it to look right. Screen is a bit too big maybe at the moment. I’m actually really happy with this build so far everything is very sturdy and locked in quite well so this may be a keeper for me as it’s 1:8 scale to go beside my Datsun if I ever finish it. -

Ok, thanks for the comments everyone. Sorry for leaving replies for so long but time has been difficult to find with young children on holidays and wife doing a thesis. anyway I have had to change direction in this slightly as time and parts are limited and bricklinking stuff is out on such time limits these days! so I have kept the back and will be doing an E-moped type build with a delivery box on the back just to keep my theme going. I think I may be able to finish something this way that I will be satisfied with. as it sits now. I can’t believe all the panels I’m using contrary to my usual philosophy -

Yes sorry, I overlooked that part of the comment when replying. To answer, I did try that but I could not get it to counteract the miss alignment with also limiting the number of gears and the gears with ‘even numbers’ produced a miss alignment themselves, but yes all sorted now thanks! Thanks! Hopefully I can implement it well, into a technic model. -

Well, you may be right. I aligned them, not really knowing what aligning meant, but kind of figured what you meant and It did seem to fix the problem. But just to make sure I switched back to see what would happen and instead of handle bar turning too much like before, it then turned too little! anyway thank you it has helped And bars and forks now turn the same. Still can’t figure why that would happen but won’t dwell on it, it’s all good now. Oh and thanks @2GodBDGlory and @HorcikDesigns but to answer there is no slip in the gears they mesh tight as! And there is no torsional flex in the axle as I loosened everything to try and make sure it wasn’t that either Sketching out the bodywork dimensions... Need to box the top of the forks to the handle bar area for rigidity but otherwise structurally happy for speed building!! If I like what I come up with I’ll put a bricklink order in for the right colour parts. I’m not good at body stuff so there will be gaps...which is how I like it anyway. -

Thanks peeps! I Had a couple hours over the last 2 mornings and built steering and forks. Trying to not use any cargo space for the function. Now one weird problem is that the handle bars turn slightly more than the forks but there is no gearing. I thought it may be slack in the uni joints but if I turn the forks the handlebars still turn more. I’ll live with it but no idea what is causing it?? Scale is more like 1:8 not 1:6 As mentioned in original post. I am not familiar with the 14T gears so hope I set them up right. They were the only gears I could use because of the ‘uneven’ teeth making axle alignment possible to align bars and forks. Below shows the correct alignment at straight and then the miss alignment at full lock, it’s only slight but I can’t figure it out -
Hey everyone, I’ll give this a go but I really think I’ll run out of time as time is hard to come by right now, so this is quite a bit less technical than most of the current TC19 builds also. looking for inspiration of what to build I came across this concept sketch which would very much fit in to some anime series which I’m a bit into. Its got a futuristic vibe to it so that’s what I’m aiming for. Link to original Here It took me about 12 hours just to get this E motor, suspension, chain driven setup! Very frustrating but I needed it to fit in the space parameters for scale or I would not continue with the build. It should be pretty similar to Technic bikes @1:6 scale. I also had to build it so the panels come off easily like a Vespa I suppose as this is somewhat what the bike is based on. I have put an fake Electric motor in there Which is probably oversized to a real one but didn’t want to make it too easy for myself. Wheelbase is long! E motor is white and red direct drive to wheels. Is this a copout to piston engine? Not sure how else to represent an E motor. suspension travel with chain tensioner. The drive cog is not on the swing arm pivot point. It all just fits! For any eagle eyed viewer Im using the narrower wheels for these tyres (London bus wheels?) which makes the tyre slightly narrower also so I can fit the chain in without rubbing.

Oh man those portal axles are very cute too. technic stuff doesn’t get front paged enough... Seriously very nice scaled down, upgraded version of the 8110 -
“If you can’t get there, there is no point in going” I’m glad, as part of the human race, that humans never thought like this, or we would still be stuck cave dwelling great model, looks amazing!!

2GodBDGlory's old MOCs

its a shame this didn't get its own thread as it looks very interesting. You couldn't have moved the tail moving L motor to be hidden inside the tower at the time? I also liked how you got pitch control on propellers as well! nice work. Also I think the controller should have got its own thread
