Excellent job! As others said, the suspension and the gearbox are very clever! I would guess fitting all the controls for the gearbox into the right spot was quite a challenge.

That looks absolutely amazing! The photo with the wheels off is just wow! I agree, the Ducati shocks are a perfect fit and add a lot to the model. I love the long suspension links. The drivetrain seems to be completely crazy: there is an angled servo in the front and the angled 36T gear in the back. Could you explain how it all works? Do you have / can you make a photo with the body off to show the chassis? Oh my gosh, this thing just blows my mind!

Thanks, that's ingenious! I didn't know you can pull the hose out. -
Old Steam Tugs in scale 1:40

This is just mindblowingly beautiful. A cliché to say, but I am literally looking at these with my jaw dropped . I am pretty sure you have used the full assortment of the Lego's 3.18mm parts... Wands inserted into the flex tubes is inspired, as many many many other NPUs. Cleavers for the propellers?! Hairpieces for the air vents?! I do not recognize the conical pieces used as a bottom connections for some of the 3.18 bars. What is that part? P.S.I love the slight color variation in the hull of the Furie. -

I can tell it is build by Desert Eagle only by looking at it. It's your signature style: dozen of motors, bald colors, and very recognizable styling. Performance is amazing. Good job! -
So many wonderful thoughts and opinions here. I am definitely a perfectionist. And as @DrJB rightfully said it can very bad for work and life. I am constantly fighting it and, of course, it is very hard for to let things go at work and at home. So when it comes to hobby, it's a happy place for me. Lego is the only place where I can satisfy my perfectionism. And I go all the way. That's why you haven't seen a MOC from me for 5 years. My big one was finished 2 years ago, but I am not publishing it since still find some things to tweak. It never stops to amaze me what optimization can accomplish. I refine a mechanism until it all clicks together. And that feeling when everything finally fits together just perfectly is very specific and I know it very well. In most cases it will be very clear to me that I have achieved at least a local optimum. It's kind of hard to explain. But I am sure some of you will understand. And that moment is pure joy.

That is a fantastic model! Congrats. I kinda love the exposed studs. They give the model some character.

Very cool model. The description of all the difficulties you've faced makes it even cooler. I really dig the color scheme with wheel caps in three different shades. Somehow it works really well. And the presentation is top notch. One question: how do you drive the geared hubs in such a limited space? Is there enough space for the mating cv-hoint part, a gear, and support? A picture will be much appreciated.

Oh, this is brilliant. The suspension looks super responsive and the packaging is amazing. And the windscreen and pillars in Technic and at that scale - wow! The chassis photo resonates with me a lot - this is exactly the scale and level of density I like the most. Amazing work. Any chance for a under belly shot? I am super interested in the suspension, especially since it is updated from the previous version and seems to work really well. -
Ah, the manual goes in the front, I've missed it in the second picture. This is cool. Thanks for the replies guys.

I see you are wasting no time with your 2021 list. A very solid start! Personally I think the steering solution is not much worse than "u-joints and crap" (), super compact and efficient. A guess it is a bit less realistic, but so is the transmission in the back. I assume "system" or modularity takes the priority here. A bit off topic: I always feel that placing the gearbox away from the fake engine is wrong. To the point where it almost feels like it is not worth it. What is your opinion on that (obviously you are okay with it, but still)? To what scale you need to go to do it in a more realistic way? Does anyone remember any examples out of their head? Again, sorry for off-topic, let me know if this is a wrong place do discuss it. Just the whole theme of modularity got me thinking.

This is genuinely great. And thanks for the detailed write up. So many great solutions! Very clever idea of running driveshafts from the tracks back to the fake engine. The picture with the whole thing hanging in the air on a 3frame which is 3M high is impressive! And then there is the steering, working steering wheel, suspension. And all of that in two weeks??! It takes me that long to mount a door on my creations... P.S. The video and photos are absolutely beautiful!

Very nice truck. The solution for a differential is brilliant. The photo from behind the cab really shows how dense it is. Good job! -

Very nice build! As others have said, refreshing and fun. The use of pistons is inspired and fits the style of the build perfectly. Thanks for sharing! -
[MOC] Unimog U400

Rarely I came across a MOC which leaves such a deep impression. For a minute I couldn't believe my eyes, seriously. My brain was trying to comprehend the scale vs functions and couldn't. That number of motors, switches, and working things just don't go with that size of wheels. Outstanding work. The photos are amazing too. They look a bit like renders and that adds to the surreal impression. It's everything I am hoping to see when I go to that forum: complex functions, compact size, solid construction, nice bodywork, and beautiful presentation. And it's a MOG for crying out loud! Nothing can be better. Just perfect. I would agree with others - it's one of the best MOCs in a long time. P.S. Each implement is a masterpiece. But my favorite is the winch. I am just in love with how beautiful and effective it's. I want a poster with it in my living room -

Great job! I really like the bodywork. That line from front fender to door to rear fender really pops in the model similar to the real thing. And that is sometimes very hard to do in Technic. Congrats!- 21 replies

Very nice truck. The color scheme is gorgeous. I’ve looked through the Bricksafe and found the older version. The new one definitely looks better. I would guess that is a compromise on performance for the looks. Would you mind sharing a couple of photos of the updated chassis, body off for example? I can see you’ve switched the shocks, any other changes?

[MOC] Vintage Tractor
proran replied to MangaNOID's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Fascinating study in the steering geometry. Now the rigid hose makes perfect sense. For the slack in the steering I’ve switched to the new 1m worm gear meshed to 20t bevel. But, yeah, bump steer is a huge pain. Thanks for the interesting discussion! -

Very nice tractor. I appreciate the amount of work which went to the front axle. The rigid hose in #1 connectors seems a bit sketchy, but as you are saying it is probably okay for a non-motorized MOC. Also as far as I can tell there is no worm gear in the steering mechanism. Bump steer is not an issue? I must say the blue headlights look a bit odd to me. I guess it is there to «spice it up a bit”? ? I am fascinated by the vintage tractors myself. I have a MOC sitting on a shelf waiting for a video, probably it is the time to finally publish it Too bad TLG is not fond on vintage machinery for the Technic line. Tractors are the perfect subject for a set.
