  1. Exactly! I would argue that this is by far the best time for D&D sets. Not only is it the 50th anniversary, it reentered public consciousness thanks to Stranger Things and Baldur’s Gate 3, and while last year’s movie sadly bombed, it received high praise from critics and fans alike It’s by far the funniest film I’ve seen in like a decade. Come to think of it, I don’t believe I’ve ever laughed as hard in a theatre before than with the distraction and graveyard scenes Also, Hasbro and TLG used to be mortal enemies, so this collab wouldn’t even have been possible before the Transformers set
  2. I keep forgetting that D&D belongs to Hasbro So not only do we have two Hasbro-licensed sets now, but also a CMF series! Interesting times. …do I smell a Mr Potato head figure for Toy Story 5?
  3. Official pictures are out! I adore this set Sorry Didney castle (either version), but when it comes to my favourite Didney set, this one takes the cake! So many cool details, the minifigs are awesome, and the build itself is outstanding! Also love that new 2x2 half-round tile piece. I can see that one becoming quite useful for other sets (and MOCs)
  4. Not surprised to hear this. They wouldn‘t create a codename just for a couple of Brickheadz, after all And them being s@h/LEGO store exclusives à la Monkie Kid explains why they weren‘t on Brickmerge‘s list before!
  5. So basically a Minecraft version of the ?-block set I really like the idea! Also sounds like a reimagining of the microscale sets that started the theme
  6. Time to eat humble pie Too bad, as I was looking forward to the Wicked sets. Oh well…
  7. Well, how am I supposed to know that they suddenly change their numbering conventions?
  8. Nice to have the casting rumours for F4 confirmed! I hope LEGO does the film justice with at least two sets This probably closes the biggest gap in the entire Marvel theme
  9. Well there goes my interest, if it’s indeed a minidoll theme. Boooooo
  10. This sounds amazing! What a nice addition to the Ideas set So many new pieces!! This makes up for the sad news that the Wicked and Wednesday sets will allegedly feature minidolls
  11. I‘m firmly in team „moulded“ While the giant T-Rex is an amazing model, the smaller brickbuilt creatures always look rather robotic to me, which isn‘t helped by the colour-locked ball joints And the stickered eyes in the JP diorama are just terrible
  12. Marchion Ro immediately comes to mind! But so far, all of the anniversary figures were based on something that had gotten at least one set before (even if it was just a polybag). I doubt they’d a book or comic character, and those usually aren’t as highly requested as film, TV, or game characters anyway A villainous character would make sense considering Malak is the only one. My pick would be the Seventh Sister
  13. Not the whole franchise, but the Wednesday series is Love the new picture of the cottage It gets better and better with every new image! Hopefully, the official reveal is right around the corner
  14. Simple, it’s the set numbers. Minidoll themes (Friends, Didney, Elves, DC Superhero Girls) are all in the 4XXXX range Art is a separate theme with separate set numbers. Being in the 7XXXX range, they pretty much have to be playsets
  15. Depends on the movie I’d be in favour of a Deadpool & Wolverine set, but in most cases (like horror franchises) I’m glad TLG doesn’t produce sets for those IPs. Alien for instance would be cool, but I’m not losing sleep over not having any sets based on it Not that I think sets based on R-rated movies would be offensive or anything, I just like to think of LEGO products as something wholesome the whole family can enjoy.
  16. March 1st, I believe! We should see official pictures pretty soon
  17. Whoops, you're right! Plus there's another major difference: this isn't a normal Ideas set. Instead of securing the license after determining a winner, they first got the license and then basically used Ideas to let fans decide what they want to celebrate D&D. So this is pretty much the ultimate D&D set, as decided by the fans!
  18. Agreed. Had they planned to do more, they would‘ve launched an entire theme from the get-go rather than holding a contest on Ideas to create one set So far, the only Ideas sets to get follow-ups were Minecraft and Friends. Sonic doesn‘t count since the sets aren‘t really compatible.
  19. I know what you meant, but still, even an indirect tie-in would be risky. There‘s a reason we haven‘t seen Deadpool in any set since 2012 (ignoring SDCC exclusives) Putting Wolverine in a set is easy, since they can refer to X-Men 97. Deadpool though? There‘s no way it wouldn‘t be perceived as a movie tie-in.
  20. Stranger Things can be ruled out. Not only is the timing off, S4 was a lot gorier than the previous three, and the two „Buffalo“ sets are 10+, if I remember correctly. My money‘s on Wednesday
  21. Sure, but there are three major differences here: The Punisher and Blade minifigs were comic-based (as is the set in general) and thus didn‘t tie in with (and promote!) any violent live-action content. They were side characters in a Spider-man set. A set with Punisher branding instead would not have worked. Deadpool is not only violent, but vulgar too, at least much more than Blade and the Punisher are. Consider yourselves lucky if there‘s a small Skullpoopl reference somewhere in the X-Mansion, because that‘s the best we‘ll get
  22. As I‘ve said, this argument immediately goes out the window when looking at all the Ideas sets that are branded as „18+“, regardless of age appropriateness. It‘s a pure marketing tool, not an age restriction As @THELEGOBATMAN points out very well, this would break a lot of parents‘ trust in the brand. It‘s simply not worth all the potential headache.
  23. Yeah, that doesn‘t exactly inspire confidence, but at least the sets will most likely be worthwhile! I mean, as flawed as JWFK and JWD were, the sets were awesome
  24. Yes, the Karens yelling at LEGO store employees because little Jimmy wanted to see the inappropriate movie the set he got for his birthday was based on won‘t be mad at all You can‘t argue with the 18+ branding when there are Winnie the Pooh and Sesame Street sets on other shelves that are also 18+ Seriously though, they draw the line at explicit content and it‘s a valid stance for a TOY company. You may not agree with it, but that‘s the way they handle things
  25. Your opinion is not a fact. Hard to grasp the distinction, I know
