Wizarding World 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

There‘s „cute“ ugly and „oh-god-my-eyes“ ugly That old one was nightmarish and didn‘t fit in with anything Even zombie minifigs look cuter than him! -

Yes, because the FB franchise worked out so well They should consider themselves lucky if they even get to 7 seasons, let alone any spin-offs. As I’ve kept saying for years, streaming isn’t a sustainable model, like AT ALL. It just doesn‘t generate enough money for expensive productions like that to be profitable long-term (or even short-term). With a movie, we can quickly (and publicly!) see whether they get their money back or not. With streaming, how do you calculate that? Do you only count people that subscribe specifically for a show? What if they immediately cancel again? Or do you count a cut of a the fee of people that pay anyway, whether they watch the show or not? And what about people that only watch the first episode and then drop out? Does their money count? And then there’s the issue of piracy. Providing all the content online with top-notch quality is such a great idea And on top of that, the whole thing is led by a megablock who 1) didn’t know FB was part of the WW, and 2) got the release date of DH wrong, by like 3 years TLDR: I wouldn’t get my hopes up for a new “cinematic” universe -

The old one was pretty cool and holds up rather well to this day, apart from the ugly faceprint that is No matter what they do with the new one, it can’t be worse! Interesting point about the cloth pieces. They still produce fluffy/furry ones like that from time to time (e.g. the Range Troopers from Solo), but rather infrequently, so it‘s gonna be interesting to see what direction they‘ll take! Also, as far as I know, the old troll was the last doll-like figure like that. My guess is they’ll do a print instead -

I don‘t think has been discussed much yet, but what would your preferences be for the troll? The description we have is rather vague, after all Personally, I hope they go the bigfig route, but with a new torso/legs piece. So regular bigfig head and arms, but a new piece for the rest -

Well, not much to discuss at the moment! Unless minifigs from the June wave start leaking -
What sense does that make? The Batman 2 was scheduled for October, so 3 months after Superman. By that point, it would’ve long left theatres And even if that was true, why an entire year? How about, I dunno, last year’s big strikes that resulted in the delay of countless other projects? Pretty annoying we have to wait an additional year, but I’m sure it’ll be worth it! Fingers crossed TLG plan a replacement wave, e.g., another one based on BTAS. We need more sets for that show than what we’re getting this year!

While I don‘t want the theme to end just yet, they will run out of material to cover at some point The reboot (if it ever gets sets) won‘t help, as it will be more of the same, just with a slightly different coat of paint. Interesting to see HP being in the top 5, as 2023 was one of the weaker years for this theme in my opinion, apart from the Second Task, RoR, BoH, and Gringotts sets The rest was still good, but not on the level of the 2020 or 2022 offerings. -

Polybags with exclusive prints have become super rare, let alone exclusive recolours. She will most likely appear in one of the two 2HY sets -

Finally, there‘s Roy to complete the Koopalings! The clear highlight here is Bowser‘s Train though! Looks really well-realised, especially the giant Bowser face Mario Kart in 2025 is welcome news too! I‘m surprised they‘re announcing it this far in advance -

I agree for the most part. X-Wings and TIE Fighters don‘t need exclusive minifigs, but adding a selling point or two can‘t hurt The anniversary minifigs technically aren‘t needed either, as the boarding scene set for instance likely would’ve sold just as well even without Fives, but they are a nice and very welcome incentive! The X-Wing vs TIE Fighter set is currently the least interesting one of the entire year to me, and the option to build uglies, while a neat idea, does little to change that. But I will keep an open mind. Maybe it‘s better than I give it credit for! -

So the worst case is Nearly-headless Nick and Sinistra in the GH, Fudge in the Durmstrang ship, and the Grey Lady in the AC, whereas the best case is Bloody Baron and Vector in the GH, Crouch Sr. in the ship, and Fat Friar in the AC. Fingers crossed it's the latter!! -

That wouldn‘t have made too much sense given that the 2021 set is still available. I‘m so glad they decided on a new scene to stand out from the set’s precursors -

Fudge and Sinistra have to be placeholders for Crouch and Vector, or at least so I hope Sounds awesome! Still funny that the ideas for the Great Hall’s figure selection we spitballed here (the troll, Vector, and one of the missing two house ghosts) have a good chance of actually panning out -

They‘re actually doing the troll scene, just as we were hoping for?! And new potion/flask pieces? Holy smokes! Well, that settles it then. I crown 2024 as my favourite LEGO year ever, and it‘s only March It pretty much was a formality at this point -

I could live with a slight sand blue touch, but the old black and regular blue TIE Fighters looked awful in my opinion If you take off your nostalgia-tinted glasses, it‘s pretty obvious how inaccurate that was. I was so glad when they finally changed it in 2010, no need to go back to the dark times -

Lately, a reveal roughly two weeks ahead of release seems to have become the norm for D2C sets, so this tracks. Sure, this is technically an Ideas set and not a D2C, but still- 686 replies

I stand corrected I had no idea they brought it back into canon, let alone 6 years ago! Maybe there will be a remake once it makes an appearance in a show or movie -

While it’s hard to predict what they’ll do with the summer sets, I think it’s pretty likely KK will be included in one of them. He’s the most iconic AC character next to Tom and Isabelle, and so it’d be weird not to have him in the theme’s first year -

Huh. Not surprised they went with the 2007 version over the 1999 one, that one was pretty terrible with all its misprints So yeah, here you go, for those who didn’t like the new version that comes in the Sith Infiltrator -

And the book-exclusive minifig is… …Maul, with 25th anniversary printing on the back. We don‘t see the front, but since he comes with a hood and his regular lightsaber, it‘s probably a reprint of the 1999 one, in the same vein as the 20th anniversary figures. Sure, it could theoretically also be the Rebels version, but wouldn‘t they use the Inquisitor lightsaber hilt if that was the case? Then again, it‘s broken in the show, so who knows. -

Oh yeah, that was so much fun! Especially when we had no idea which sets some parts or entire minifigs were from Factory leaks are still a thing obviously, but to a much lesser degree.
