Ah yes, the scientifically-accurate OT, where parsecs were used as a unit of time, starships make sound in space, explosions in space manifest as huge fireballs, and hyperspace is a thing Oh, and space wizards. SW has always been deeply rooted in fantasy. From the first second to be precise, as it even starts like a fairy tale. And ANH in particular is one of the best examples of the classic hero‘s journey!

LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

Likely search optimisation Some people suggest AI, but why would you need AI for something you could come up with in 2 seconds? Granted, I‘ve seen way dumber uses of AI, but that‘s beside the point. The faceprint is also exclusive …for now. I can see it being reused for random Hogwarts students -
Unfortunately, I don‘t see that happening. As hopeful as I am for a wave of sets, I‘d consider releasing a D2C set based on an untested new cinematic universe a very risky move, despite the design likely being comic-accurate enough to work as a generic Daily Planet D2C sets based on then-upcoming movies or shows are very rare anyway. The Sanctum Sanctorum is a recent example, but that one was not solely based on MoM and had been featured in multiple movies beforehand. Another example, the Dune ornithopter, was based on the first movie (and technically wasn‘t even a D2C set). Unless I’m overlooking something, the only current exception is the upcoming X-Mansion

Sure, but that doesn‘t change the circumstance that she hasn‘t been relevant enough in the last two and a half decades to warrant an anniversary minifig All the others had prominent appearances in recent(-ish) shows, games, and/or movies, while Mara simply hasn‘t. I wager A LOT more people have encountered Malak in KOTOR than have ever read a single story featuring Mara. Most younger fans probably have no idea who she even is -

Doesn‘t make much sense. Maybe if Enoch had been included in the initial wave, but 11 months later, they have no excuse -

While it‘s a nice print, that L0-LA is totally oversized! She‘s supposed to fit in the palm of a hand, not cosplaying as a frisbee It‘s a cute set though! -
Classifying Batman as sci-fi is a bit of a weird choice. He has futuristic tech, sure, but genres are mainly about tropes, not set dressing. For example, Star Wars is fantasy, not sci-fi. While there are spaceships and futuristic technology, the story and characters adhere to fantasy tropes (the hero’s journey, a mentor, the wise master, an evil overlord, magic etc) As @RedHoodPug points out, Batman stories follow detective tropes. He IS a detective after all, and that‘s even what DC is named after!

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
BrickBob Studpants replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
If there’s any theme that doesn’t need its own CMF series, it’s definitely City It already gets the lion’s share in most regular series, most BAM minifigs are City-adjacent, and then there are the sets themselves. Any other theme (like Pirates or Castle) deserves it way more in my opinion -

That wouldn‘t work at all with the moulded eyes. Both the size and position are completely off -
Wicked 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to TheBrickPal's topic in LEGO Licensed
Thanks to @Brick Clicker, we have some new info: 75684 Emerald City ($99.99, 945 pcs) 75683 Hidden Bedroom Box ($69.99, 740 pcs) 75682 Buildable Elphaba & Galinda ($54.99, 558 pcs) 75681 The Palace Boat Trip ($29.99, 304 pcs) As pointed out in the Wednesday thread, it’s interesting to see buildable figures in a minidoll theme! No idea what to expect there -
Lego 'Wednesday' rumours and discussion.
BrickBob Studpants replied to Agent Kallus's topic in LEGO Licensed
According to @Brick Clicker, 76780 includes buildable figures of Wednesday, Enid, and Thing, 76781 is Wednesday‘s bedroom with the same three characters (Thing being moulded), and 40750 is a Brickheadz set Interesting that they‘re going for buildable figures within a minidoll theme… Has to be a first (unless you count the Bruni figure from Frozen II) -
Even though I can‘t say I care about Fortnite, the upcoming sets do sound intriguing, especially the minifigs! From what I can tell, they go for some of the classic skins 77074 Battle Bus ($99.99, 954 pcs) includes Adventure Peely, Cuddle Team Leader, Meowscles, Brite Bomber and more 77073 Peely Bone ($99.99, 1414 pcs) 77071 Loot Llama ($39.99, 691 pcs) 77070 Burger Battleground ($14.99, 193 pcs)

Let‘s hope Gunn is cooking with Supes, because otherwise the DCU is cooked, and the DC theme with it So far, everything looks great in my opinion, so I‘m not worried yet. The general buzz seems to be positive too, however, the deciding factor won‘t be us fans, but general audiences. I think the time is right for a optimistic, positive take on Supes after Mopey McSadface (no shade towards Cavill though, he did well!) And for the love of Batman, no Jesus imagery this time! Twice was already two times too many. Thanks.

I don‘t get why they should‘ve picked a Legends character that will never ever be relevant again Darth Malak at least can easily be made canon again once they delve into that era. Mara on the other hand cannot be reintroduced into canon unless they change pretty much everything about her, except for the design and character traits maybe Also, it‘d be kinda weird to celebrate 25 years of LSW with a character who hasn‘t been relevant in 25 years …Yeah yeah, get your pitchforks ready, I‘m not afraid of you!! -

That‘s a really cool model! I like how they‘ve captured his signature pose Hopefully a remake of the 2008 Grievous figure is also in the cards at some point! That model could be improved so much with all the pieces that didn‘t exist back in the day. -

It‘s interesting, because SW is one of the few themes where this happens regularly. For most other themes, pictures of the entire wave still drop all at once (the other current example being Marvel with the 4+ Hulk set and the stilling missing Helicarrier) They must have marketing reasons for this strategy as I doubt they do it on a whim Personally, I don‘t mind too much but I have to admit it‘s kinda getting annoying now. At least we should see the remaining sets on Monday at the latest! -
Nahh, I just like building them, like some of the Ninjago, Dreamzzz, or Monkie Kid sets I usually get them to reach the threshold for GWPs. Not interested in reselling. I do have duplicates of some sets that I could sell if I wanted to, but it’s not worth the hassle to me and I have no intention to join the dark side The only set I ever sold was a second copy of the 2020 Burrow, and I did so to a friend of my sister‘s for the original retail price. I ain’t a scalper

Over 3000, not counting CMFs I have two rooms entirely dedicated to my collection, a big one with all the movie/TV-based sets, and a small one with all the game-based stuff. The split was made earlier this year Unlicensed stuff is either in boxes or in the living room But yeah, I’ve never looked at a DC set and thought it wouldn’t be worth it. Sure, the 4+ sets aren’t exactly my cup of tea, but I still buy them since they have nice prints, the minifigs often have something exclusive about them, and I can’t stand gaps in my collection

Comicbook accurate costumes and character designs often are a bit of a damned-if-you-do-damned-if-you-don‘t type thing Fans are miffed when movie costumes deviate too much from the source material, and general audiences are put off by the more out-there designs, unless they‘re played for laughs. In this case, I think the mask looks fine. We need to see it in the context of the film to properly judge it though!
